>> governor-elect ron desantis giving his speech. just north of florida is georgia. stacey abrams has are fused to concede in her campaign there. leading with 99% of the vote in. politico is reporting a record number of women will be serving in washington. at least 103 women have been elected in this election cycle. they will join the 10 women in the senate already there. that is a new record on top of the 1992 record. raceississippi senate heads to a runoff. cindy hyde-smith and mike sb will be in the runoff. that is on november 22. neither of them achieved 50% of because -- when you

look at the balance of power, the republicans retain control. there are five races still to be >> >>florida has still not been declared even though rick scott has given a victory speech and bill nelson has not conceded, necessarily, but rick scott is ahead by about half a percentage point at this point. more results this morning. --brian camp in the georgia in the georgia governors race holding onto a lead of 51%. stacey abrams not considering the race. let's take a look at some interesting senate races, including in montana, where right now matt rosen dale is

ahead by about 2100 votes. matt rosen dale with 49% 1% for jonith 48. tester. in nevada, another state where president trump had campaigned extensively. senator dean heller is holding onto his lead over democratic congresswoman jacky rosen. dean heller has about 93,000 votes compared to 85,000 or jacky rosen. still a lot more to come in, especially in clark county, which is a stronghold for democrats in the state of nevada. mitt romney is coming to washington as a u.s. senator. he is the former governor of massachusetts, move back to utah, and easily defeated jenny wilson in the utah senate race. and finally in arizona, where it has been a close race all evening.

elections tonight. we also saw an unprecedented number of women run for office and when office -- win office. women candidates ran in more than half of the most contested races in america. if you don't know them yet, don't worry, you will. from lawrence county to the cornfields of iowa, down from miami to the tip of maine, this election was a triumph of volunteers knocking on doors and making phone calls. of neighbors gathering, of people who have never been all that political deciding that now more than ever is a time to get involved. tonight the grassroots movement that began with the women's march continued -- women's march, continued with the parkland students, made his decisive jump to the polling place and has finally brought the change that washington so

>> currently the house gop has 235 seats in the house of representatives. it's looking like the democrats could pick up 35 seats tonight. that would bring the house republicans down to about 218 -- 200. 218 needed for the majority. >> we are focusing on the house races. take a look at georgia sixth congressional district. karen handel one in that special

election last year. it is essentially tied with just a handful of votes between republican incumbent and lucy make bats, who is the democratic h,allenger -- losey mcbat who is the democratic challenger -- lucy mcbath, who is the democratic challenger. let's head out west. in utah the fourth congressional district, where mia love hoping to run on -- hold on to her seat. ben mcadams has been maintaining his lead. he has about 51.5% compared to 47% for the republican incumbent. in california's 48th congressional district -- we will go to nevada's fourth congressional district. the republican candidate with about 9% of the vote now reporting -- 90% of the vote now reporting has 66%. steven horsford has about twice

a percent -- 27%. incumbent, who has been in the house of representatives for three decades, but this could be another potential pickup for the democrats. in washington, the candidate to defeat dino rossi has increased her lead. more votes knowing that congressional district with about 64% now in. the democratic candidate has nearly 53% of the vote. there was a poll and alaska's at-large district that showed don young behind by one point. he is holding a lead at 53% in that large seat -- at-large seat. he is the dean of the house of representatives. you can check out the results on our websites as well as the victory and concession speeches on demand as we get more of them tonight, especially out west in arizona and nevada.

ist we have collected so far all available for you to check out at c-span.org. newspaper is tweeting out that stacey abrams suggests a recount will take place in the georgia governors race. you can see it there, brian up a little over 50% and stacey abrams at about 48% or so. a couple of hours ago kellyanne conway came to the white house lawn to speak to reporters about the white house reaction to tonight's results. >> what are the president's thoughts about the gubernatorial race? >> the president is very happy that ron desantis will be the next governor of florida. the president certainly helped him in the primary and general election. i joined the vice president last week. we have many people in florida and it's a hard-fought race, i think in both the florida and governor -- georgia governors race is you saw a lot of straw

power from the democratic party's. issues still matter to voters. even though people like to focus on personalities, it's policy that matters to people, and principles that matter. >> [indiscernible] you are dealing with a democratic house now. how is it dealing with a czech presidency? checkedch presidency -- presidency? ed presidency? historic. it has only happened in the last -- the fact that republicans will gain more tonight is a testament to the fact that voters want the statewide officials to people who will continue have this test to have this economic boom going -- continue to have this economic boom going.

the president went 5-5 in the last two days alone. on sunday and monday campaign for the governor of georgia, marsha blackburn in tennessee, and yesterday of course i was there when he barnstormed for her. mike braun for senate in indiana, those are pickups in the senate seats. >> are you concerned about rick scott at this hour? >> rick scott looks like from what we see, he has cleared the point of -- halfway point of automatic recall. it's too close to call but it's -- he's ahead as well. it's a message with incumbents as for incumbents who have to campaign -- it's a message or incumbents that they still have to campaign for voters. he has spoken to several people. he and the first lady are right there, front and center, flanked

by family, friends, senior advisers, and others. there are always surprises every election. i don't want to comment on who has called on either side. .'m not going to comment >> are you concerned about democratic control of the house right now? >> [indiscernible] >> shirt. it's also -- sure. it's also up to the democrats. they have shown very little appetite for working with the president so far. that's why i don't believe it is a shellacking like obama suffered.or clinton its because they have not been willing to work with this president. he was willing to do a deal on daca and the dreamers almost a year ago and we are still not there because they walked away from the table. immigration reform is more than

daca, it's more than just the border wall, it's a very competition. we have to keep the government running, a funding bill. we have to work on infrastructure, frankly. the president does not want anything to happen with what's been an incredible economy through his deregulation, his tax cuts, his trade policies. everywhere we go we hear from job creators, job holders, job seekers. >> is c concerned about the impeachment -- is he concerned about impeachment -- the impeachment threat? >> i don't know that there will be much of an appetite across this country and in some of these democratic districts among the constituents for their members to be spending all their time or even most of their time, instigating, investigating, tried to impeachment subpoena people -- impeach and subpoena people.

there seems to be little appetite for that. i have heard -- hardly heard the words russian collusion on a. i think there is something to that -- all night. i think there is something to that. they are talking about health care, immigration, national security around the world. this president's policy to try to denuclearize the korean peninsula, which helps everyone. the remains of our fallen from korea have been returned. this president is sanctioning iran and russia when he has to. he showed a lot of strength and leadership around the world, and many people may not say america first, but they say stop apologizing for america. >> was it his focus on immigration that helped in the senate tonight? >> how will the administration handled that? will you turn them over? >> we will talk to the lawyers about that. if that's the first order of business than you are going to have to ask the democrats the

question you just asked me, which is where do you think you can work with the president and the white house on behalf of this country. we are willing to do it. >> how will you foster that kind of bipartisan sentiment from this administration to a democratic house? >> we can. , inow just two weeks ago the last week or two the president signed into law the most comprehensive, historic bipartisan legislation in america's history on anyone drug crisis. we got billions of dollars in new funding. that has to united states senate 98-1 -- past the united states the unitedassed states senate 98-1. obviously the president is trying to work with democrats on some of his judicial and executive nominations. it? so late, isn't his got more senators so maybe

he won't need more democratic votes, but he always welcomes them. if you see some of the democrats running these house seats and you take a look at the districts , those democratic members are going to have to ask themselves, what did my constituents asked me to come and do. i guarantee you it's not to try to obstruct, impeach, impunity. >> he was focused on the migrant caravan so much. do you feel like he is the naked with that? >> well -- vindicated with that? >> where was he criticized? where else was he criticized -- where else was he criticized? he has been complemented for raising attention to the fact that we have people poring over the border. people come over the border by the thousands every single day. for manyemarkable

people is when you shine a light on an issue in a different way and people see, they come and say maybe border security is national security. this president and the unaccompanied minor issue is very much the same as the one president obama faced. congress has failed to act. they failed to act then and they failed to act now. mostlye part congress is responsible for what happens moving forward with immigration policy in the united states of america, and they need to act. i don't know if the president worries are not he was the negated or not in bringing -- vindicated or not bring attention to the caravan. mexico has been terrific in tried to offer a third save country, tried to offer asylum to these individuals coming from central america. some of them are taking that. some of them are saying want to come to america.

i think it's all in education for everyone to continue to look at that and not always try to boil it down to sound like. the fact we are not talking about a shellacking tonight, the fact that it took from 11:00 -- until 11 a copy him for most networks -- 11:00 p.m. for most to announce that the house was becoming democratic shows a lot. it's pretty remarkable and historic yet again two years later after he made history in an enormous weight, that we are picking up in the united states senate among entrenched incumbents that are very popular at home, like bill nelson in florida. certainly joe donnelly in indiana. certainly a place where president obama went and campaign with him just this weekend, to gary, indiana. do you regret the advertisement that was deemed too racist by fox and cnn? >> let's go back to the

campaign. let's focus on what just happened tonight in which is voters responded. i respect the will of the american people. we have not discussed the advertisement at ultimate -- at ultimate -- at all tonight. >> what about 2020? is he thinking about the reelect? is he starting? >> one of the things i will tell you about the president, something that always struck me through this entire cycle is that when his political team would tell him, well the party in power always loses the house and they often lose the senate, and they have grievous losses, and you show him all that. but president george w. bush was elected twice, president barack obama was elected twice. he would routinely say i don't want to hear about that, i don't care about that. we have to on making sure the president and vice president,

and those who go out there and do it, can help keep the senate. get people who can vote for an agenda that's about a booming economy, peace and prosperity. he has never been focused -- as focused on his race as he was in helping them. you saw that last night, he got back after 2:00 a.m. after being on the campaign trail. >> [indiscernible] conway was kellyanne about 2.5 hours ago on the white house on giving the white house -- lawn giving the white house reaction to tonight's results. it's 2:30 a.m. on the east coast. steve scully is still getting new results. steve: beyond 2:30 and we will be here for a while, it looks like. let me show you three of the closest races we have been tracking through the course of the week. a reminder, it's all in our website.

in nevada, the one state that the republicans were defending, a state that hillary clinton won in 2016. right now jacky rosen, the democratic candidate, is ahead of dean heller. cnn calling this race, saying it will be a democratic pickup in the state of nevada. the ap has not yet called it. also out west in arizona, where we have been watching the returns in the senate race. this is a seat that the republicans hoping to maintain. left by jefft flake. with a leadally sinema.sten . and wisconsin, a governor's race

where scott walker hoped to seek a third term. evers, the democratic candidate, with nearly 100% of the votes in. 49.6% and governor scott walker with 48.5%. >> congresswoman jacky rosen will be coming out to speak and if that happens we will bring that to you live. heidi heitkamp, claire mccaskill, joe donnelly all lost the races. bill nelson is behind in florida. it has not been declared. and dean heller, it looks like he lost his race. the only republican incumbent to go down in this election cycle. new senators include kevin cramer in north dakota, josh in misery, mike braun in indiana, and it's looking like you can add rick scott in florida and jacky rosen to that

list, but those are not confirmed. here is a live picture from las vegas. it looks like jacky rosen's folks are just getting ready to speak and to bring her out. we will watch this a minute. if we -- if she comes out will listen to her -- we will listen to her. because when we moved back to our hometown, we did raise that kidsy, three of my four work in my business, and the theme of my campaign is that we need to take to washington what works in the real world, what works in jasper, indiana, what works in warsaw, indiana. what works in this great state where we lead by our performance, just like we did in tackling infrastructure. we are a state that works and i thank my lucky stars that i was born in this state and in my hometown, and that it has worked out. i really do. heller. senator heller: help me all through this process. we got elected of course. i want to thank the governor for pointing me to the united states senate. we got reelected and i think we really did some good things. i did something today that i have not done in nine other races, and that is i called my opponent, and called jacky rosen and congratulated her on a great race. congratulated her on what she did, what her party was able to achieve, not just in my recent all the way down that ballot. we have hit a couple of blue waves for a couple of cycles. as a party we are going to have to come back together and decide how we are going to go forward in the future. but my hat is off. who worked hard. the hard work that they put into it. they were there every minute. i knew that i could count on them and i knew that if we work hard enough we would be successful. we were not, we were not, and i take the blame come take the blame for that, because i know that perhaps there were more things that i could have done. i will tell you what i am glad that i have done. serving in the united states senate, a couple of major achievements. first and foremost was this tax reform bill that we passed back in december. it was not done single-handedly, i understand that, and we could not have done it without president trump, but i tell you, that was a generational change for nevada, for the people of nevada, and for the people of america. number two, number two, to change the supreme court, to move the supreme court to the right. that also was a generational achievement and i was pleased and proud to be part of that. those are good achievements, big

-- too. i want to tell you that my faith and upbringing are a big part of my decision to take on the case -- race. it is our responsibility to leave this world a better place than we found it. and after all of the hate, all of the hate i have seen recently , i cannot tell you how much this means to me as a former synagogue president, to stand here tonight as your next senator. hate will never win. hate will never win. and plenty of people have their doubts that this victory would be hours tonight. but this is the story of this election cycle, women stepping up to lead, to take back our country, our agenda. i am humbled by the two nights of the -- by tonight's results.

i will always put nevada first. i will work each and every day to represent all of the people of our state, to provide first-class constituent services , and to find common ground with anyone in the senate with in idea that benefits nevada. that will have lots of fights ahead of us. let's talk about those issues. we are going to fight for a $15 nobody innimum wage, this country who works full-time should ever live in poverty. we are going to fight for every student to be able to graduate

from a public college or university without crushing debt. were going to fight back against plans to cut social security and medicare. you one that i am so proud of how we reacted in las vegas. but we are going to fight to pass common sense gun safety. you know, we are going to take the privilege of a two more fights we will work on we fight for civil rights, for voting we need to fight for immigration reform.

we can fight for immigration reform that protects our workers and keeps families together. and i look out at those beautiful sunsets we have here in the desert, and we need to fight for real action to address crisis and invest in nevada's clean economy. this, i willou fight like hell against anyone who tries to defund planned parenthood or attacked women's reproductive rights. and we have the biggest fight of all, one that binds each and every one of us. if you don't have your health, you don't have anything. so i will never stop fighting to protect our health care.
