bills.ng week. live coverage next here's an update from a capitol reporter. >> sarah ferris is a congressional reporter for politico. she joins us with the latest on talks to fund the government head of the december 21 deadline to prevent a shutdown. and the white ss house in talks at this point? >> the house and senate went won't thursday and they be coming back, at least the house, won't be back until leadership of he the house and senate are still here over the weekend. hey will be trying to figure out what the white house wants. they will then try to put orward a spending package that can pass both chambers an hopefully avoid a shutdown by did friday but lawmakers leave the capital on thursday with basically no idea of what next week will look like and they will be here on christmas. >> so president trump met with past atic leaders this

week at the white house. what are the key differences, wall, of course, but what are the details in terms of wall? they are on the >> so the border wall has been the issue for months and months, of the appropriations in other words on capitol hill have reading the text and looking at the specifics. president trump has been billion for the border wall. that's his number. there is not a specific project wants. that's his number. the house republicans have been number.o give him that the house bill would include $5 illion, but the senate $1.6 tisan bill includes billion for new fencing largely in california in specific areas border. that's something democrats have already agreed to so there is a plan out there right now that $1 upon 6 billion for the wall, that both parties have agreed to.

course, is , of that's a lot less than $5 billion for the white house and that s meeting on tuesday was televised on national television, this extraordinary with nancy pelosi and huck schumer, trump repeatedly told them he would demand $5 billion and he wouldn't accept the $1.6 billion. now, what are you hearing in terms of what his advisers are at this point now that he's dug in this deep to border wall? >> there is not a lot of people in the white house who are shutdown ating for a this point. the republicans will be in the final days of their majority in house. the senate republicans would like to see things done. they don't want to be blamed for so there are advisers in the white house who have begun to pressure trump to to explain to him that it's going to be nearly impossible to get the $5 billion a the wall without causing really dramatic year end shutdown that, again, both really on capitol hill
