>> tremendous retail numbers were out today. that's a great indicator of how well our country is doing, how will -- well economy is doing. walmart announced. we had tremendous numbers come out today which i'm sure you saw. we are doing very well. the economy is incredible. the consumer is doing incredible and go ahead. any questions? [inaudible] >> we will have a very long time of wealth and success. other countries are doing very poorly. china is doing very poorly. the tariffs have been into china. they haven't been into us at all except for the reporters that make us want to look that way. we've taken in close to $60 billion in terror of money.

the consumer has not paid for it. at some point, they may have to pay something. they understand that. our farmers understand that. they know we had to do something about china. we are doing something about china. that being said, we are having good discussions with china. they want to make a deal. we will see what happens. we had a deal and they decided not to make it. now, they would have liked to have had that opportunity. i think they missed a great opportunity. they feel that they missed a great opportunity. china very much wants to make a deal. we will see what happens. yeah? >> [inaudible] involved from the standpoint of, they are very anti-jewish and anti-israel. i think it's disgraceful, the things they've said. this isn't just a one line mistake.

what they said about israel and jewish people is a horrible thing. they become the face of the democrat party. i've got a very strong statement. if you look at their language, what they've said, if i ever said it, it would be awful. it would be a horrible month. said, omar aey've limb, it's disgraceful. i don't know why israel would let them in. if they want to, they can. i can't imagine why. >> [inaudible] think the longer the trade war goes on, the weaker china gets in the stronger we get. we are taking in masses of money. the longer it goes, the stronger we get. i have a feeling it will go short. i think china has lost millions of jobs. you saw that reported today.

thousands of companies are closing in china. i don't know. maybe they want to do this for years. they would love to have somebody like biden who doesn't know what he's doing. he said, we want to build up china. they gave us a very strong china. china has taken out over $500 billion a year from our country. that's not going to happen anymore. >> [inaudible] concerned are you about a violent crackdown of the chinese and hong kong? >> i'm very concerned. i put a memo out last night. these are men i like a lot. i said, i would be willing to bet that if he sat down with the protesters, a group of representative protesters, he would work it out in 15 minutes. i know it's not the kind of thing he does. i wouldn't -- it wouldn't be a bad idea. they have a certain little leadership role.

if he sat down with them, he would work something out very quickly. it seems like things that could be worked out easily. >> [inaudible] >> i don't have comments about who i spoke to. myhink by social media -- social media statement speaks for itself. they are so anti-israel and anti-jewish. if other people made that statement, there would've been held to be -- pay. -- hell to pay. >> china said they want to retaliate. what is your response to that? >> if they did retaliate, which i don't think they will do, they are offering things that are very good. i don't think they will retaliate. if they did, we have the ultimate form of retaliation. they have very few jobs left in china. we would be able to step it up. i've been very mild about it.

there's a long way i can go. somebody had to take on what was happening with china. we can't allow china to take out of our country $507 million every year. not including intellectual property theft and so many other things. we are having very good talks with china. i think things will happen but we will see. >> will you want your team to be with them in september? >> september, the meeting is still on. more importantly, we are talking by phone. we are having productive talks. they would like to do something. the top we had a few days ago with my two representatives, nobody knew what was on that talk except for myself, china, and those people. that was a very good conversation. >> [inaudible] >> jay powell should be cutting rates because every country all over the world is cutting. we want to stay even.

i don't mind if we are higher. we have better credit. we are way too high. jay powell made a big mistake. he raised them too fast and also quantitative tightened. that was a big mistake. $50 billion a month. it put us in a position -- interestingly, even with normalized interest rates, president obama was paying nothing. we have a much better economy. look at our economy from the day after my election. we determined esteem the day after the election. -- picked up tremendous esteem the day after the election. when somebody says from january 20, not from january 20. it's from november 9. the fact that i won lifted our economy greatly. if i didn't win, it would go down. frankly, if that happened for some reason in the 2020 election, you'll see this

economy go down. outside you that right now. >> you have any idea on when china will follow through on their purchases and crackdown on fentanyl? >> they want to follow through very quickly. this is part of the conversation that we had. they had a special representative come over and talk to us. a very strong message to me. they want to start doing that very quickly. i'll be honest, i'm not there yet. not china. i'm not there yet. we will see what happens. i would really like to see china come in a humane way, solve the problem and hong kong. humanely solve the problem and hong kong. they could do it very quickly. i see it yesterday, i have a lot of confidence in president xi. i have no doubt he would solve that problem quickly. >> [inaudible]

i don't encourage or discourage. if israel allowed them to come in for the normal reasons, other than those reasons, i believe it would be a terrible thing for israel. it would show a terrible sign. they want to do boycotts. they said horrible things about jewish people. they said horrible things about israel and israelis. it would be a terrible thing, frankly, for israel to let these two people who speak so badly about israel come in. they have become the face of the democrats. the democrats don't want to do anything to condemn them. if this were 10 years ago or a different time or people, or whatever, they would be condemned for the things they've said. they've said some of the worst things i've ever heard said about israel. how can israel say, welcome?

i don't think it would be a good thing for his real. that steve king needs to resign? >> i don't know the situation. i read a statement that he made. i haven't been briefed on it. it wasn't a very good statement. >> [inaudible] are you going to have some sort of declaration about the intent to steal a trade deal with written? >> we are dealing with the u.k. entree. we will have a great deal made. i am dealing with boris johnson. i spoke to him yesterday. i will speak to him again. he and i are aligned. we feel good about each other. we will make a fantastic deal with the u.k.. we should do more business than we are doing with the u.k.. i don't want to say they are our closest allies. i don't want to insult other people. they are one of our closest

allies anywhere in the world. we will have a fantastic relationship with u.k. and a great trade deal. that's moving along rapidly. >> any other goals for the g7? >> just relationships. we'll see what happens. we have a lot of things to discuss. a lot of things to do. >> [inaudible] >> i don't know. he would be terrific if he rim. -- ran. i spoke about it a week ago. it is something you would like to do. i think he would be very good. he loves new hampshire. he loves her country. he would be very formidable. >> [inaudible] >> we will look at that very closely. we are looking at the whole gun situation. i want people to remember the words mental illness. these people are mentally ill. nobody talked about that. these are mentally ill people. people have to start thinking about it. buildingo start

institutions again. if you look at the 60's and 70's, so many of these institutions were closed. the people were allowed to go onto the streets. that was a terrible thing for our country. cities couldn't afford them. they closed them. in new york, they closed a lot of them. people went out. they went on to the streets. it's a terrible thing. a lot of our conversation has to do with the fact that we have to open up institutions. these people can't be on the streets. we have a tremendous crowd in new hampshire. it's all over the place, everybody is saying, wow. our competitor has no crowd. i don't know what that means. i think we will do very well in new hampshire. new hampshire should've been one last time. except we had a lot of people come in at the last moment which was a rather strange situation.

thousands and thousands of people coming in from locations unknown. i knew where their location was. we will have a tremendous success in new hampshire. these are great people. the relationship is very good. >> [inaudible] >> we are looking at it. i feel very badly. he was harshly sentenced. people feel very strongly about that. i floated it. i wanted to see where the democrats and republicans stood. people feel very strongly about rob mccoy the. he's been in there for 7.5 years. what he did was terrible. it's a long time. it's a long time. >> [inaudible] >> i've been dealing with mitch mcconnell. he's a man who we've had tremendous success with judges in judicial appointments.

we will be up to 179 federal judges within the next two months. nobody would've believed that's possible. that was because president obama was unable to get him to pleaded. i inherited 138 empty seats. nobody could believe it. we will have them almost all filled with tremendous judges and tremendously talented, smart people. they will be filled within two months. 179 judges. two supreme court justices. that is something that nobody would've ever thought possible. i want to thank president obama for that. >> background checks for gun owners? >> i've been speaking to mitch about that. i've been speaking to everybody about it. we don't want to see crazy people owning guns. i want to remember that mental illness is something nobody wants to talk about. these people are mentally ill. we have to study that, also. you know, it's them. they the trigger.

the gun doesn't pull the trigger. we have to look seriously at mental illness. we are doing that at a level that hasn't been done before. >> [inaudible] is there anyone else who are you are talking to? >> many republicans. it's been pretty, an amazing experience. they want to see something happen. it's very simple. they don't want to have insane people, dangerous people, really bad people having guns. republicans agree with me. i would say, pretty much uniformly. >> [inaudible] >> i'm afraid that if we came up with a good bill, the democrats might a bit and do things that can be done. i hope that wouldn't happen. that has happened in the past. you understand. >> do you support universal background checks? >> i support strong, meaningful

background checks for people who should not have guns. people who are in same. people who are mentally ill. people that are bad, bad people. like this guy in philadelphia who had been arrested numerous times. he's a bad guy. people like that would not have guns. people like that should be locked up. he shouldn't have been on the streets. thank you. they do very much. >> [inaudible] >> i will speak to him. we have a call scheduled soon, president xi. i believe he can work it out. i know him well. if he wants to, he can work it out in a very humane fashion. he can work ever -- something to make everybody happy.
