appropriations chairwoman and her republican counterpart. lift aheadn enormous of them. there is a total lack of bicameral, bipartisan agreement on funding levels that need to be worked out in order to write these bills that fund the day-to-day operations of the federal government. there are some huge issues looming like funding for donald wall.s at the same time, you have congressional leaders weighing resolutiongressional to keep the government open and get these negotiations continuing. leaderay, house majority steny hoyer announced that they do plan to take up a short-term spending bill the week of november 18. continuing this

resolution expected to be an are you expecting both the house and senate to pass it and the president to sign it? caitlin: house majority leader steny hoyer did say today that they will pick up a continuing resolution the week of november 18. that would extend current funding levels to buy more time for negotiations over the regular annual appropriations bills. sure if that would extend funding to congressional leaders and the white house. at least through mid december. once again, we are sort of setting up government funding deadline around christmas, kind of took everyone else's chagrin. around christmas, president trump sounded alarms when he kind of left the door open to

possibly shutting down the government over impeachment. earlier this week, we had his top liaison to congress meeting with lawmakers, giving out some reassurance. as long as the democrats don't try to tie his hands on border wall funding. through mid december seems to be the current thinking when it comes to a cr at the moment. >> eric was recently on capitol hill. what are you hearing about the level of funding for the border that the white house and congress might except? caitlin: this is sort of the as senator shelby told us. this is the biggest issue really as they try to fund the government. seekinge house is

billions and billions of dollars for a border wall. senate republicans have proposed providing him with $5 billion in their department of homeland security spending bill. house democrats are pretty insistent on the fact that he is not going to get another dime for that wall. they are upset about the fact that senate republicans have proposed taking billions away from the mastic programs to fund that wall. impasseists an enormous over funding and they have been waiting for some kind of signal from the white house if trump has kind of come down off that number and will accept something less. >> senate democratic leader chuck schumer has said that he is increasingly worried that the

president will want to shut the government down because of impeachment. what are other lawmakers talking ?bout this as a possibility caitlin: there is concern because we saw, just about a year ago, the president urging -- mick mulvaney and the president did shut down the government over him not getting the amount of funding he wanted for the wall. we saw that did not play out very well for republicans. i think the blame sort of fell squarely on the president for shutting down the government over this issue. , about what could happen. the president is a little bit of a wildcard in that respect. his top liaison to congress was
