6:08 pm
committee to share what he knows withholdmp decision to aid to the ukraine. following the deposition, representatives spoke to reporters very and what they had to say. we just concluded an .nterview with mr. mark sandy i am not going to characterize his testimony except to say that he is the first witness from the office of management and budget to come forward. we have asked other individuals like the acting director mick mulvaney as well as others around the white house.
6:09 pm
we have seen issues that are pertinent to this testimony today who have refused to come in. it is with gratitude that we want to thank him for coming in today and providing useful testimony. always, when witnesses come and we learn more and today we learned more because he honored his duty to cooperate in our investigation. >> [indiscernible] mr. sandy's testimony relates that the administration placed on security assistance to ukraine. i will not go into what he testified to. this investigation is most importantly about $391 million in taxpayer money that was leveraged to ask the ukraine's to look into the president's political opponent. this was authorized by congress, signed into law by the president
6:10 pm
by wheny day that went that money was not given to the ukrainians, the ukrainians were dying. by when [indiscernible] >> the question is whether he was reluctant. i will say he cooperated and answered all of our questions. we learn more about this investigation and as a former prosecutor, what is remarkable about this investigation is that it is almost entirely driven by witness accounts. or witness accounts. most investigations today are driven by document production, reviewing emailed communication, electronic communication, the administration has refused to turn over any electronic communication and we have been
6:11 pm
severely limited. because people have come forward and produced information, we learn more. i can only imagine where this investigation will be if documents were actually turned over. in spite of that, brave courageous americans from the state department have aided our investigation. your you enjoy the rest of saturday. >> today was a really bad day for democrats. since i have gotten to congress, this was one of the worst most unsuccessful fishing expeditions that i have witnessed. today, we brought in mark sandy who is a dedicated career employee of the office of management and budget to answer a question with regards to why there was a hold on the money to
6:12 pm
ukraine. i believe that it would be great for adam schiff do not only be releasing the deposition transcripts of the four witnesses before yesterday and today but to release all six before he conducts a number -- another open hearing. what is scheduled for tuesday morning and that should not take place unless all six deposition transcripts are out by then. it's an easy solution just released the transcripts. and you don't have to take one person's word for it. the american public and just read for themselves what the transcripts say. today, you saw an even bigger hole blown inside of adam schiff's fairytale story. one day it was quid pro quo. then he changed it to the word extortion. then he changed it to bribery. today was a sobering reminder of how this ridiculous this
6:13 pm
impeachment charade is and how ridiculous the impeachment attack is on the president of the united states. today was a great day for republicans and up terrible day for the democrats and the resistance. tellld love to be able to you every single question that was asked and every answer that was given. if we can get adam schiff to give us permission to tell you that, we can talk about every single last and that happens behind these closed doors. back inare, supposedly the open phase of this hearing yet we are here on a saturday, you all are here on a saturday and it is now very late in the day where we are inside the most secure room of the capital in wheresement unfortunately, all the questions that got asked and all of the answers given you could not watch live. my constituents could not watch live. when you are asking that most important question of why there
6:14 pm
was a hold on a to ukraine and a fantastic answer is given to all sorts of questions candidly genuinely throughout the entire day, it is unfortunate that the american public doesn't know the answer. you can't have another hearing tuesday morning without releasing today's transcripts. there's a lot that would get cleared up if you would let that information out quicker. we've not been sharing specifics but i can make a general characterization throughout this entire impeachment hearing, the democrats may have been suggesting that there is some as it relatesoses to behold on aid yet we heard that thegeneral terms assumptions the democrats have made and certainly the allegations that they have made
6:15 pm
have not been supported by the witness testimony here today. certainly have not been supported by the reasons for that hold on aid. >> what do we know before today? bet ukraine did not know there was a hold until august 29. we heard that this past wednesday. then, the aid gets released shortly thereafter. guess what ukraine had to do to get the whole lifted? absolutely nothing. we knew that going into today. in order to put out the new shiny object which is moving all startedere the speaker using the work bribery because extortion quickly fizzled out and wipro quote fizzled out. , thenswer given today answers given today as it relates to that only further drives a big coal into the
6:16 pm
argument. you cannot remove this president for that claim based on what we knew going into today. you have an even better case after today. >> [indiscernible] >> i think it is fair to characterize there were a whole lot of technical terms that were used today. weree process, terms that -- that i was not aware of in having served four terms. we were able to clearly cut to the chase and put it in layman's terms. terms, i would just offer this general characterization that whenever there is a hold on aid that gets placed on the by omb, the reason for that hold is not always known.
6:17 pm
yet, the reason was ultimately shared in general terms behind consistents, it was with other reasons that we have heard from the president of the united states. would you say the answers were good? for the president? i am leavinguntry, here and getting on a plane and going back to my district this evening. playughters have a school tonight and hopefully, we're able to make it. constituents those like her and her generation relying on members of congress to be here improving our country or it is others who want to see usmca past, they want to see prescription drug prices lower, there are important priorities
6:18 pm
that the american public have right now. we want to see those priorities advance. instead, everything has come to a grinding halt. it is embarrassing. it is an epic grinding halt right here in this country and history is not going to be kind to adam schiff and all of the people who are pushing this. day for the president? about todayited is is because it is a great day for our country. it is adjusted democrats. day for the resistance. if you were standing on the side of pennsylvania avenue in january 2017 holding a sign that said in peach and now, you had a bad day. are still having trouble coping with the results of the 20 16th election, you had a bad day. as far as the president of the united states goes, he will be happy with how today went. nobody knows better than he does
6:19 pm
what the answer was to the question we were given. connecting as we are in today's deposition. you will go back and watch statements that the president has made way back in the past. it is all going to add up and i will to you it is not the dots adam schiff is trying to connect area the evidence is in front of us. come here and they are testifying or the media stories are getting written where they fortrying to make a case something that does not exist. they are trying to make a case for quid pro quo and they are not talking about the fact that president zelensky said he felt no pressure no demand no quid pro quo. press conference to media by komen some country where he was trying to explain over and over again what he knew and that there was nothing wrong that was done.
6:20 pm
plus, you all have the evidence go back and read the full transcript. the president zelensky did not know there was a hold on the aid. there was no mention on quid pro quo or the hold. in the weeks that follow, it is not until august 29 when they read it and politico. then the aid gets released shortly thereafter. following today's deposition, adam schiff who did not attend today's questioning issued a statement. reacting to today's testimony from omb official mark sandy, he mentioned that mick mulvaney has refused to testify. and that if mulvaney had evidence that contradicts what we have already heard, he would be eager to testify and provide documents. instead, he is hiding behind and assisting in trump's efforts to conceal the truth from the american people.
6:21 pm

6:23 pm
our c-span campaign 2020 bust team is traveling across the country visiting key battleground states. asking voters, what issues they want candidate joe best presidential candidates to address. >> i want the candidates to address what is good for the american people and put the people of our country ahead of party and politics. one thing that is very important to average americans is the and job creation and i am hoping there will be a real focus on that. >> i believe that the candidates recognize the massive health care disparity we have within the whole nation. properto health care and health quality. >> i believe that there should be a higher focus on climate change. i feel as if no matter who you
6:24 pm
are, it's something that affects the matter where you live. most recently, i have noticed that there was not an emphasis on climate change. people debating if scientists are actually correct. we never question earthquakes or hurricanes but we want to question climate change. we don't see the immediate effects. we are pushing on our children so i want to see more of this in the presidential election. >> voices from the campaign trail. >> the white house did not release weekly address from the president. texasssman escobar of delivered the democratic address. she talked about the daca initiative and the supreme
