11:02 pm
it. i think we can do better than that. i think the democrats have at least a ticket that looks like they are going to look at the rest of america and take them into consideration. trump, he declared bankruptcy in his businesses. i don't see him as being able to manage much. a person who is running the post office. i don't know. nobody could make it a bigger disaster than this guy and he was only there a couple of months. the revolving door of all the people he hired or fired. he doesn't know what he is doing in terms of managing this. i think it is a big job. i think biden has done this before. i think he can do it. >> next call is connie in alabama, republican. good evening, connie. >> yes. how are you? >> how are you? >> i'm ok now. [laughter] i think donnel trump is the best president we have ever had in my lifetime. i don't particularly like him as a person but i absolutely love
11:03 pm
what he has done for our country and i would look forward to him doing the same thing for the next four years. >> go ahead. >> these democrats have lost their minds. we got a lot of voters out there that are just diehard democrats and they refuse to look at the truth or they have been sheltered from the truth and they don't understand the truth because the media does not report all the good things that donald trump has done for our country. >> do you think some of these things came out this evening at the convention? >> oh, no, these things have been going on ever since he was elected. i have been following him and i actually watched joe biden and joe biden is losing something. he is not in touch with reality. i do not for one second believe that he is anything more than a

presentation tonight on the republicans on c-span and they just really hit home a lot of really good stories about donald trump. he is a good man. >> so bill, what kind of business do you own and how is business right now? > it is a restaurant and we're suffering. it is not because necessarily the pandemic. we're just people don't want to come downtown anymore. >> have you reopened for inside dining or just outside? >> just outside. >> and are you even open in the evenings minimum? >> no. we don't stay open late. it has been too much of a problem with people trying to get the employees to go home, gets them home. >> thank you, sir. tom in south port, north carolina.
11:08 pm
independent line. hi, tom. >> good evening. as somebody who is who has voted republican previously, i'm still not convinced that trump has drained the swamp. i feel like it is been nothing but a parade of criminality. d you know, i respect reagan and bush and larry hogan as people who are responsible for the entire country. i still don't feel like trump will ever represent the entire country. i'm not satisfied. i feel like he has let down the country with the covid-19 pam. >> are you planning on voting for joe biden? >> as of dad, yes. >> thank you. where is south port, north carolina? >> near wilmington, north carolina. >> thank you.
11:09 pm

i like his policy. i like what he did in israel. he always has god in everything he does and i really respect donald trump. i know he is not perfect but i think he has done our country great. >> ronald is next. he is a republican from mount pleasant, south carolina. a couple of south carolinaians have had big speeches tonight. >> yes, sir. yes, sir. it was an amazing start of a convention. i think the republicans, every single one of the speakers did an amazing job. talk about how you bring hope and promise to this nation. they are all doing exactly what they should. on the other side, as people have already said, it is doom and gloom. donald trump is one of the most amazing people i've ever seen lead. it truly is extraordinary.
11:11 pm
i think there is going to be a real big surprise come november. i think it is going to be similar to reagan's second term and a red wave is coming. >> so are you a fan of your former governor nikki haley and your current senator tim scott? >> absolutely. both of them are amazing and i hope to see them fighting for many years ahead. >> next call is chip in lawrenceville, georgia on our independent line. chip, what do you think about another four years of a trump presidency? >> well, i think we will have an opportunity to do what really needs to be done to help the economy in a big way. and that will be i believe that trump will probably want to pass the fair tax. retail sales tax. if you read the books he has written in the past, they would like to just take it out of the fair tax books. that is what will help our economy more than anything else. get arrived the income.
11:12 pm
you pay the same amount of tax. get rid of the income tax and prebait.r tax with a that's what we need. what they missed out on. you start talking to people who are familiar with this, they are for it. all there is to it. >> thanks for calling in. dustin from cleveland sentence a text. trump trump is the only president i will be voting for. ohio is trump country. lee is a republican in south carolina. where is caltans? > it is in a little small town close to spartanburg, south carolina. >> what do you think about another four years of a trump presidency? >> i think that is the only way to go. >> why? >> i grew up as a democrat. my whole life. but when i got older, i realized the democrats have changed tremendously.
11:13 pm
the republicans, they stand up. for what is right. and president trump, he has been the greatest president in my lifetime. >> what makes him so great in your view? >> because he stands up for the american people. >> all right. next call is hunter in pennsylvania. democrat line. what do you think about another four years of a trump presidency? >> i think it would be great. i'm a lifelong democrat. i'm definitely switching my party and voting republican this november. > why? >> i just like that trump is tough on crime. you know? he is not going to let them do what they are doing in the cities. he is going to get stuff done. >> next call is pete in chicago on our independent line. go ahead, pete. > yes.
11:14 pm
not republican or democrat. i have to say donald trump is the law enforcement president. i have to say he has shown all the respect for law enforcement and the military, teepers, public service sector. with these riots going on, he has offered to have the military come in and everyone is turning him down. they want to do it themselves. chicago is getting destroyed. eattle is getting destroyed. people don't want the help. other than that, i just have to say that i have never seen a president try harder than this in a lifetime. what i really can't say, whether i'm republican or democrat just
11:15 pm
because everybody else has silenced my voice because if i say that i am republican or vote for trump, i would get bashed. possibly lose a job. possibly lose friends so i've been silenced from my right to speech. >> you said you were a law enforcement official. what kind of work do you do you do in law enforcement? >> i'm a police officer in the city of chicago. >> what do you think about what is going on in chicago? ot just the protests, but also the shootings? the city itself? can that be preventsed? >> totally different. other than the protests. protests are just totally out of hand. there is just people trying to take advantage of the whole b.l.m. movement and all of that.
11:16 pm
as as far far as the shootings that are going on plus a lot of people are blinded by the media and all of that. a lot of things are magnified. the shootings are getting worse. it is time to get some help for the city. >> while we have you on the line. what kind of instructions do you get for you know policing a protest? is this a free speech issue or is this a police matter? >> no, no, this is just free speech. i can't really say much about other than law enforcement all over the nation that is just doing a great job busting their hump right now. >> thanks for spending a few minutes with us, pete. tomorrow night, the convention kicks off day two and in the evening, you'll hear from melania trump, mike pompeo and
11:17 pm
senator rand paul among others. sid in new hampshire, republican line. what do you think about another four years of a trump presidency? >> it is a must. i was blessed to have run his ground campaign in 2015 and 2016. my wife and i first ran a campaign office in new hampshire which is a bastion of liberals and we saw more democrats coming in and saying what many people are saying tonight before me. i've been a democrat my whole life. after this, i'm going to be a republican. we have to win this election. this will be the end of the country as we know it if we don't win this election. i firmly believe in 2016, we are going to. the black vote. you look at tim scott, when you listen to tim scott, walker, the football player talking.
11:18 pm
just marvelous speeches of how the truth of president trump, that he is not a racist. he loves everyone in this country. and that's the president that we need. if democrats win, biden wins, we're done. it is over. >> are you a long time g.o.p person or did you jump onboard when president trump first start campaigning? >> no, i'm 64 years old. i've been a republican my entire life but i was never involved in politics until my wife said to me trump is coming to town. that was 2015 this nanch. >> will the president win new hampshire this time? >> oh, i think he will win new hampshire this time. we only lost it by i think it was less than 1% actually in 2016. >> it was 2% that he lost new hampshire. is that correct? %? he lose it by
11:19 pm
>> i thought it was around one but i believe new hampshire will flip this year to president trump. hope sound florida. >> it is on the east coast in west palm. >> what do you think about another four years of a trump presidency? >> i think it is absolutely necessary. my family was democrat for a lot of years. in fact, they were involved in democratic politics for a lot of years. this democratic party does not vemmable the party they used to be. they condone violence. they want people to be agrieved and say they can't get jobs because the government has not helped them enough. i don't recognize this parties. they are socialist. they lane to the left and biden has never accomplished anything in his career. my whole family has been
11:20 pm

election in our lifetime and they are both using fear, believe it or not, to try and get votes. i believe this the republicans are using fabricated fear, you now, fierce of the black lives matters protesters and antifa and bringing on the people with the guns in st. louis where the democrats are bringing in real fierce. the fierce over the pandemic, fierce of racial injustice and police brutality. another four years of trunch is not a good thing. >> kevin, tell us a little bit about yourself. >> 30 years the old. i'm a democrat. i used to be a republican back in high school but with college, that changed a whole lot of my views. now i view myself more as a democratic socialist. more on bernie's side but definitely going to vote for biden because you got to. >> what kind of work do you do?

'm retired military.
11:23 pm
the democrat party, there is is nothing like it was in my grandmother's era. that's the only way we're supposed to vote until you start thinking for yourself. no, it is not the only way to vote. if you love this country and have put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into it and you have family members that gave their lives for this country or you have lost limbs for this country, you don't want to lose it. you don't want to see it go down the drain. trump is standing for this country and for constitution. . we need strong leaders like that. not politicians. >> >> a text, i love how he is so involved in everything that happens. we need that kind of transparency and honesty. trump 2020. next is chris in utica, michigan. republican line. hi, chris.
