emphasizes for the impeachment of the -- impetus is for the impeachment of the president. 40 days to go, it is up to the people. we want them to have confidence in our vote. acknowledge, you cannot ignore his ridiculous date men's, -- statements, you have to know people should vote. it will count. i will vote.com. i have to go back to my day job. that is it. thank you all very much. >> house republican leader kevin mccarthy took questions from

reporters in the gop agenda and the president's comments on the peaceful transfer of power. >> i want to begin by extending prayers to the two police officers shot in louisville last night. to the country, we are grateful for our law enforcement and the risks they take to keep our communities safe. what happened to breonna taylor was a tragedy. i should honor her death making sure a similar situation does not repeat itself in the future. excuse for the organized violence we are seeing in the streets and it must stop. today marks the one-day anniversary since speaker pelosi launched the most partisan, weakest impeachment in u.s. history. watched sunday. it seems like she's going to try again. when people look back on the work of the house of representatives for the 116th congress, they will see it was led by a majority more concerned

with attacking the president and building up our country. democrats years since -- nancy pelosi took the gavel, democrats have done more to dismantle institutions than to help the people. that trend continues. yesterday, house democrats as advised by their leader speaker pelosi blocked relief for american small businesses. it is far from the first time these actions have taken place. i will give you a few examples. april 15. the paycheck protection program stopped accepting applications after it ran out of funding. democrats delayed the passage for another two weeks. the reauthorization expired. house republicans tried to use weekendy weakened -- session in august. remember the emergency cyst for the post office? covid relief for those losing their jobs. they noted it down.
10:47 pm
august 22, democrats called for an emergency session over their postal service conspiracy. september 10, republicans try to pass a targeted relief bill that included $250 billion for ppe. democrats blocked it. despite democrat's unwillingness to help, republicans are not going to give up. we made a commitment we are going to work on rebuilding the greatest economy we have seen and that is what we are going to do. house republicans led by steve the dischargeced position to push for a floor vote on ppe extensions. you know what a discharge position is. it only needs 218 signatures. i have listened to members on the other side talk about their desire to help and their belief they have voted once for ppe.
10:48 pm
the question will be, will they put politics before people? right now, they have been following the speaker. a speaker who told us we could not leave in august unless we had covid relief. she sent everybody home. she said it again, i don't know if she means it. , 2000 smallmetown businesses have shut their doors. moreps she will want to do to help them and not just violate local orders so she can get her hair done. i know in my district, ppe has helped save 100,000 jobs. small businesses employ more than half of america's private sector businesses. it is not a republican or democrat issue. these are people's livelihoods.
10:49 pm
for too long, speaker pelosi has been playing games with them. each and every time we have moved to do a covid relief package, she has delayed it or stop it, causing more people to be laid off. there is an opportunity with the rules of the house that democrats do not have to follow their speaker. democrats can show where they stand. they don't even have to make -- vote for more money. wouldn't it be nice before we depart if we focus on what the american public wants us to do? i know a year ago, the american public did not want to see and impeachment. speaker pelosi went down that route. just as she talked about it sunday.
10:50 pm
cause impeachment simply because the president could follow the constitution. to me, that is a pauline. -- appalling. we made it commenced to america. to restore a way of life. we have a plan to defeat this virus and get a safe and effective vaccine. a plan to make our streets safe and secure. that we do not defund the police, the ad $75 billion. it goes to police training. 500,000 new body cameras. we want to uphold the constitution. protect the freedom of speech. protect religious liberty. we also have a plan to rebuild this economy. 10 million new jobs. you know what we do? we help with ppe, small
10:51 pm
businesses. we have a tax proposal to help create the jobs. we end our dependency on china. something the democrats will not do. will unveil the china task force recommendations. we will bring more manufacturing jobs here. we have an infrastructure, a five-year plan. to build streets, bridges, highways. make sure internet goes to every house. we also have the ability to renew the american dream. make sure every child goes to an excellent school. it is a far contrast for what the democrats have voted for. defunding the police. dismantling institutions. destroying our economy. let me open it for questions. >> the president -- [indiscernible] there will be a very peaceful transition.
10:52 pm
u.s.oncern i have, i hope the same question of hillary clinton set up there, never can see the race. what about our own congresswoman, aoc. who said we need to radicalize. -- never concede the race. did that have anything to do with police officers or sheriffs being shot? did it have anything to do with sittingul truck staged out military weapon tree? weaponry?tree? -- there will be a smooth transition and i believe president trump will have a good inaugural and we will reunite the station instead of radicalizing this nation. yes, sir. >> [indiscernible]
10:53 pm
>> yes. do ift do you plan to president trump refuses to -- transfer of power? president trump will peacefully come to be sworn in again. it will be a smooth transition. i'm concerned about what i am hearing on the other side of the aisle. i'm concerned the democrat nominee -- u.s. me a question, if i may, i will answer. the democrat nominee hillary clinton has gone on television -- the last time the democratic nominee has gone on television advising the current nominee, you don't see the current democrat nominee because he put another lid on it. it would be nice to see joe biden come out. there are times i worry about his health. a.m.,s a lid before 10:00 denying us the ability to know
10:54 pm
what he believes in or wants to say when he wants to be the leader of the free world. you have the former nominee tell him, never concede. you have aoc come of the movement leader of the democratic party inside congress, tell people they need to radicalize. we have in our streets last night, officers being shot. the speaker just had a press conference. what did she say about the officers being shot? did she mention them? you were here. did she mention a couple weeks ago the two officers, sheriffs shot sitting in their own patrol car in their home state. did she mention that? the nominee we have this year has chosen -- the senator from california who was the former top cop of california. did she happened to mention anything? about those sheriffs being shot? did she condemn the violence?
10:55 pm
from what i saw, they did not. that is appalling. >> we are talking about the president -- [indiscernible] >> let me be very clear. it will be peaceful. i know you want to create a hypothetical. that is good for you. no questions, no quorums, no concerns. it is going to be peaceful. this nation is designed that way. this nation will have it that way and that is what will take place. it is exactly what the president said before. i know there are a lot of things going on. there are a lot of small businesses shutting down. there are a lot of people with unemployment and congress is not providing covid relief. there is going to be a smooth transition just as there is every time before. i am sure you asked the speaker, u.s. to her about hillary
10:56 pm
clinton. about her own member, aoc's comments. because i imagined that concern you but i did not see that in the conference. let me put it all to rest. it will be a smooth transition. no concern on the outcome. yes? anyone else? >> [indiscernible] >> i know that. i was very clear she was the former nominee. >> joe biden was asked about this -- >> the president has the nest and said it would be a smooth transition. i know this will keep you up at night but don't worry about it. it will be very smooth. if you think hillary clinton does not have any more power, she is advising joe biden. if you think aoc does not have who lost inll those their primaries. ask the speaker of the house when she had a meeting with aoc as a freshman. who tweeted it out. the speaker, not aoc.
10:57 pm
i think those questions are worthy of what the democratic party is saying. i think if there were two officers who were shot and you were the speaker of the house, you would acknowledge that. they were shot when you have a member of your own party prior to it telling the country to radicalize. i think you would condemn that, too but i think that is the difference between the two of us. i believe in you reuniting this nation. not fighting us. not use or i would try to impeach somebody just because they follow the constitution. thank you, all, have a good weekend. >> who will control congress in january? stay informed in the competitive races.
