developing an emergency rule to require all employers with 100 or more employees that together employ over 80 million workers to ensure their workforces are fully vaccinated or show a negative test at least once per week. some of the biggest companies are already requiring this. united airlines, disney, tyson foods, and even fox news. the bottom line, we are going to protect vaccinated workers from unvaccinated coworkers. we are decreasing the threat of covid-19 across america. host: also announcing more stringent requirements for healthcare facilities that accept medicare and medicaid. here is more from the president yesterday. [video clip] pres. biden: my plan will extend
10:06 am
vaccination requirements i previously issued for the healthcare field. already, i have announced we will be requiring vaccinations at all nursing home workers who treat patients on medicare and medicaid because i have that federal authority. tonight, i'm using that same authority to expand that to cover those who work in hospitals, home healthcare facilities, or other medical facilities. a total of 17 million healthcare workers. if you are seeking care at a health facility, you should be able to know that the people treating you are vaccinated. simple, straightforward, period. and continue to do this because it is the only way we're going to get this virus under control. the donald trump death cold, the magnum around -- the maga morand who refused to get the vaccine, they do not want to do anything. they did not want to do the patriotic thing and get a simple vaccine. think about it. back in world war ii, the patriotic thing to do was to send our young boys to fight to save this country and this democracy. we had american people rationing. they went without plenty of stuff. these morons -- host: we are going to try to cut out the name-calling. on the line for those who oppose the new mandates, good morning.

robert, you are on the air right now. also in the drive through, i assume? caller: yes i am. can you hear me? host: go ahead. caller: first, i adamantly oppose a vaccine mandate for a multitude of reasons. first of all, it is purposely deceptive to refer to this as a vaccine. this is mrna gene therapy, not a vaccine. the only reason i was asked to receive the nomenclature because that nomenclature absolves the pharmacy industries of any kind of criminal damages. that is why the vernacular is used. this is not a vaccine. this is mrna therapy. dr. robert malone, the man who pioneered this technology, said himself on multiple videos you can find throughout the interview -- the internet where
10:10 am
he said that he would not recommend this gene therapy to be used. there were no long-term studies done so we have no way of knowing what the long-term implications are going to be. host: what would it take to get you vaccinated? i assume you're not vaccinated? caller: i am not. can i give you a few more points? my fourth point is this, there were studies done and all animal studies, the animals died because it was proven to be one of the secret ingredients of the pfizer mrna vaccine for moderna. host: that is robert this morning. this is jeff from brandywine, maryland. supports the vaccine mandate. good morning. caller: i am in support of it. i am glad president biden has taken a stronger stance. the unfortunate part with all of this is that just last year,
10:11 am
just to remind the american people, we did not have a vaccine and the scientists got together and worked diligently to get something to save the american people and save the global community. here is the thing, i am hoping he continues along this line. if i were biden, i would keep going. if people want to be that stern and come up with every plan for every opinion to oppose this, then there is no more i can do for you. as american people, we have to keep going forward and realize that when the doctors and the fda recently approved it across the board, then the motive on the opposing side's we say blue, they say gray.
10:12 am
to keep going back and forth. children are going to suffer. keep that in mind. those who oppose, when your kid succumbs to something like this with not having the vaccine or you are not having the vaccine, then all of this stuff is going to hit you what has happened on television. different people have said, i oppose it. all of a sudden, they got hit with that virus and in the hospital on the deathbed saying, please take the vaccine. host: that is jeff in maryland. this is our lane in minnesota on the line for those who oppose the mandates. good morning. caller: good morning. thank you for taking my call. i totally oppose this mandate. why is he mandating the american people to go ahead and get the shot when we are letting thousands and thousands and thousands come through our border from mexico and all over
10:13 am
the united, all over the world, on american soil that have not been vaccinated? now we are bringing over the people from afghanistan. none of them have been tested. none of them have had a shot. how are we ever going to get this under control if we do not take care of the people that are coming here illegally to begin with first? host: that is arlene in minnesota. in the rules in the rules on how these mandates will occur and how the biden administration is moving them, the department of labor is set to issue those workplace standards in the coming weeks under an emergency temporary standard implementing that requirement for businesses that have over 100 employees. "washington journal" noting that businesses who do not comply could face fines per violation.
10:14 am
employers will have to give workers paid time off to get vaccinated or to recover from side effects of getting vaccinated. "the washington post" -- "the new york times" continuing on the process of how these rules will come down. experts say mr. biden has the authority to impose vaccine requirements on the private sector through laws that require businesses to comply with evidence-based federal health safety standards. the occupational safety and health administration has already imposed other pandemic precautions such as a rule in june requiring healthcare employers to provide protective equipment and adequate ventilation to ensure social distancing among other measures. that is from "the new york times" this morning. the rational reaction on capitol hill, mixed as you would expect. thomas massie calling it absolutely unconstitutional. the republican congressman from

who supports them. good morning. caller: good morning. i definitely support the thing that biden just said because we have to take care of our own people. people that do not get vaccinated are putting other people at risk. i have blood cancer and not think it is right for people to put others at risk of this vaccine. the pandemic has killed millions of people. people that do not understand this, are not patriotic people. we have to stand up for our country. host: out of pennsylvania, this is ashley on the line for those who oppose. good morning. caller: i am very opposed to this. i believe that being a nurse and a mother, i am very educated about this virus. i have had covid and been vaccinated. i just do not think that -- i

think it should be up to the individual. they have put so much pressure on healthcare workers and the public and i think this should be an option. i do not believe that people, we are already struggling and i do not think that this should make a voice in where we stand. i do believe that things will eventually get better, but i do not think that mandating this is going to be the answer to our problems. host: what are the rules in your -- i do not know if you are in a hospital setting or healthcare setting. what are the rules there as a nurse for vaccinations? caller: we are mandating to be vaccinated -- mandated to be vaccinated. we have been diligent with ppe. i was vaccinated and became covid positive. i cannot say that i believe it works or does not work. i was around my whole family,

who i believe then became positive. i think that we should have a choice. i do not think that my job and my career should be in jeopardy because of this mandates and. host: this is ricardo in oakdale, california. supports the mandates. caller: good morning. i am a recipient of in-home services and my caregivers, a lot of them are hanging around with drug addicts and they do not vaccinated -- they do not vaccinate. they need to crack down on all of this. there are a lot of criminals and drug addicts that are getting these viruses. they are going to give it to us seniors that are recipients. thank you. host: steve, canonsburg, pennsylvania. opposes the mandates. good morning. caller: good morning.
10:19 am
quickly, i do not believe that vaccines should be mandated. i do not consider it to be apolitical is you or geopolitical issue or anything like that. i see the mortality rate of this virus is less than 2% since the time of the outbreak started. i have spoken with people from the cdc and allegheny health network in my area and they have confirmed with me the vaccine is not more than a way to help you get over it. it is nothing more than a way to help you provide a fight if you get exposure to the vaccine. it is not going to stop the virus period. the event that will stop the virus is the virus going away. people will the argument about smallpox. those are viruses that got in your system and destroys you for your life. people have gotten it and recovered in less than two weeks. i have known people who had the virus and were not vaccinated. they have recovered. they are back to work. i do not think it is something
10:20 am
that should be forced upon people who are not at risk for major health issues. host: what about the more than 600,000 americans in the past 18 months who have not recovered? who have died? caller: unfortunately, this part of any virus. people from the flu die every year. i have lived next to places that spew toxic chemicals into the water and area -- and air. all they do is getting fine. -- get a fine. people die every day from car wrecks. immunization is not going to make you immortal. you can have covid and die from something else. it makes your system weaker, like a lot of other viruses. if you are prone to illness, the vaccine might be for you. but it should be up to the individual and the person's doctor to decide whether or not the vaccine is something that should be put out. it should not be forced upon people who are not at risk for the sickness. i have been around people who
10:21 am
have cancer. i have people in my family with respiratory issues and health issues. some got vaccinated. some have not. it has been over a year and a half. we have been exposed to covid. we have not gotten it. there has to be a better way than making everybody no matter what getting vaccine. i think it is a little too much. host: steve in pennsylvania. as of last month, covid back up to the third leading cause of death in the united states. the numbers, 652,480 americans have died of covid. some 40.5 million cases since the start of the pandemic, the cdc's covid data tracker. in arkansas, supports the mandates. good morning. caller: i've have had my vaccination. i got mine in march. what i want to say is america -- to america, you will have to listen to this. anytime that you can have
10:22 am
400,000 or more people gather at a motorcycle rally and let them go back across the united states spreading that virus, that is a problem. that should never have happened. anytime you have what they call white privilege, they should have canceled that thing. those people left sturges and went all across the united states. look at the uptake when it happened, when things started spiraling out of control. when all those people left. look at the date and the time. after they had that rally, you cannot blame this on immigrants. what happened is the american people, most of the at that rally, they are the ones who exploded this thing. you can never have white privilege and let them have a motorcycle rally or any big gathering like that go on across the united states. host: kenneth in arkansas. a few of her comments from social media. dan on twitter with this saying,
10:23 am
"i have no problem as long as the company pays for it. i do not like people who do not practice good hygiene." jose saying, if the vaccine protects you, why do you care if somebody is unvaccinated? this from kurt saying, "show your vaccine card to enter a restaurant or a shop." picking up on those more stringent rules, dr. leanna when in today's paper to -- "washington post." the headline of her column today, "right covid strategy does not go far enough to compel vaccination." she says, "why didn't he announcement mandated -- why didn't he announced mandates for train travel?" the biden administration needs to make clear that there are consequences -- >> we will leave this recorder program.
