significant. it can often make up over half of the vote. but the question is what does election day turnout look like? it does not seem like we have got to those ballots yet of course, this is very fluid of what we are understanding coming in. democrats i talk to expect that margin in both of those races to tighten, but democrats are feeling ok about where their. again, nothing is decided. democrats felt like they had a good handle on absentee ballots and early voting in that state but the big question mark is what republican turnout was like because we know most republican voters typically vote on election day. host: in washington, it looks like patty murray will be reelected, correct? >> yes. i'm not sure if the ap ha officially called that one, but this was a reach states that we we saw some of the ground
12:57 am
shifting towards republican and we did move from solid democratic to likely democratic, but still showing murray with edge. she got about 52% in the primary in august. that was a lot of ground for murray to drop and for smiley to make up. every election she has had, murray has built on the percentage she has gotten in the primary. it looks like that was true again tonight. host: and what is happening in utah with mike lee? >> it seems like he is ahead but it is still a close race we are watching. again, utah is a state where we are not sure how many votes have been counted yet. another late closing state
12:58 am
closer to the west coast. again, if melinda doesn't pull this thing close -- does pull this thing close, there is some dissatisfaction for lee from moderate republicans, and that would be good news for mitt romney if he decides to run again in 2024. there is speculation he could face a primary challenger, although utah operates under convention rule as well, and that is how lee got to the senate in the first place. host: is it safe to say we will not go control of the senate tonight? >> operatives from both parties i have been texting and emailing with, that is what we think. but i can say this. this is a far better night then democrats were hoping for in some of these states.
12:59 am
the worst case scenario, the republicans were going to pick up three or four more seats. that is not coming through. at this point, it is a one seat margin or either way, no net change. perhaps if something happens in arizona or nevada to flip that. but because you have democrats feeling a little better about pennsylvania and where that stands, that is one of the key states. it comes down to nevada, georgia, and pennsylvania. democrats feeling pretty good in georgia, it is razor close their. where some of the outstanding ballots are could favor warnock a little bit, but again that 50% number if either of them get there. this is far from the worst case scenario that democrats were fearing. for a midterm cycle were so many fundamentals were against them, they had over performed expectations.
1:00 am
to me, it comes back to -- you heard mitch mcconnell say this over the summer with him and other republicans close to him echoing this. if you think back to the 2010 midterm, it was such a republican tsunami and the waves and obama's first midterm election. and in 2012, there were multiple we could see that be repeated tonight it is too soon to tell. >> back to the east coast, the showdown was not as close as i people were thinking at the end. >> right it does seem like democrats took some of the turnout margins they needed to, bottom line it was a salient issue. you saw a lot of money poor in their from democra the democratic governors association , spending their and there were a lot of republican dark money
1:01 am
groups that re really heavily helpingthey were able to balance the playing field. bottom line new york is a blue state and we are seeing democrats across the board and that held there in new york. >> what is going to happen in alaska? >> we are not going to get anything there for a while in the question is as markowski hit 50% on the balance there, i've seen because of course this is a different election cycle and election style than we have seen before. we saw this happen in the special election in the house race in alaska certainly with mary peltola ended up winning their over palin. if it has to go to a second round, this is the top four people that advance and that has to go to -- if no candidate gets 50% then ranked choice voting. we would not see those number
1:02 am
two votes and they would not be released for at least a week or more. >> jessica taylor is the governor and senate at a tour for cook political report with amy walter, we appreciate you being with us. >> thank you for having me. >> we will come back and take your calls and hear your voices in just a minute after we check in. >> i want to follow up on what is happening in nevada, this is a longtime political observer of nevada politics, his tweet after 9 p.m. eastern time, it appears to be a research issue that will prevent clark county, the biggest county in nevada, 74% of the population in clark county. officials fromabating the dropbox mail and any mail that comes in today he is told they only have the personnel to tabulate the early male votes before today and in person today
1:03 am
, this is not good. and then a local reporter there saying in washoe county theyre not counting mail-in ballots opped off at polling locations they are -- there are just too many. they will be processed tonight but counted in the coming days, the mail-in ballots dropped off through sunday will be counted. that gives you an idea, it is a resource issue with counting these ballots. we won't know tonight. t state of georgia, quoting ralph reed who is speaking to the room athe walker campaign at around 1223 a.m., we are unlikely to resolve this tonight. several georgia counties ve suspended vote counting for the night, neither walker nor warnock are at 50% threshold. separated by less than 900 votes. they have been tweeting out that the walker campaign headquarters , folks are starting to head
1:04 am
home. just an update for you on what is happening in nevada and why we won't know the outcome of those senate races in the governor race as well in the state of nevada. there are some races in nevada people are watching as well. >> and for ourrs in 2022 and who you are voting for republicans: at independence call 2028 92 two, send us a text message at 20203. for xt messages only please inyourirst name and your city if you wou and you can ue t conversation and make comments on all or social media sites at c-span for facebook and for twitter as well

. levi is in ventura california. republican line you have been holding for quite aligned we we really appreciate it. caller: it was duller than i expected, i moved to california about six months ago from washington i was a democratic state and now i am here. i expected the exact same results and it is disappointing to see my vote getting canceled out by millions of others who disagree with me. economically and politically. host: why did you move to california? caller: it's beautiful here. a lot of people like the politics side of everything, affecting where they live, and this is really a beautiful place. i love it here, i have to drown
1:06 am
out, excuse my language but the 80 accuracy of what goes on around me. in my opinion it all comes down to common sense. i paid five dollars a gallon under biden -- obama and 187 under trump. now i am paying at 540 a gallon under biden and to me that comes down to common sense. here in california, i have to accept that not everybody has common sense. host: that's levi in ventura. this is ramona in alaska. democrats line. ramona was it busy today at the polls? ramona we need you to turn down that volume or we can't talk to you. can you do that? let's go ahead and move on to brooke in orlando florida. republican line, brooke good evening. caller: it's brooks with an s,
1:07 am
but it happens a lot. i just wanted to call, i am a 20-year-old republican voter, this is my second time voting, last time was in 2020. i really want to call in and make some observations, i think a lot of people echoed the similar sentiment. someone from florida too. about what's going to happen going forward. everybody's going to say this was a referendum on biden, especially a lot of republicans have been saying that. i think what we are really seeing is that this is very much an election on trump, and the influence he has on the party. specifically with the battleground states so we are going to look at georgia, pennsylvania and arizona. all of the senate candidates there were major trump backed candidates right? dr. oz,
1:08 am
herschel walker, masters. it does not look too good for them right now, i think we have to ask ourselves what that looks like for the 24 election. if we do not get florida, governor desantis was supposed to win by 10 points, and one by almost 20. the same goes for marco rubio, he was only supposed to win by eight and one by 16. i think those two people are potential future leaders of the republican party and i think we have to look at the selection, there are a lot of questions. i remember back in 2016i was in middle school, i knew who the president was the next day. when this stuff happens where we have to wait days on days, it looks bad on the party because people start asking questions about when these votes are coming in and it doesn't look good.
1:09 am
i think we need to take the party in a different direction and i think we will see what happens with the selection. but it is not looking too good especially in the senate. >> brooks what you do in orlando. >> i am a student and also on the board of the florida state college republicans. >> we appreciate your insight this evening, thank you very much. while speaking of insight, kirk is the managing editor of the hotline. kirk is there a chance that the republicans don't take the house? >> i don't think we are in that territory quite yet, it still seems republicans are favored to win the house at this point. but that margin that we are projecting a little earlier, maybe 25 or 30 plus seats, i think that's gone up in smoke with these early returns.
1:10 am
republicans are still favored to win the house at this moment, but we are looking at maybe single digits, almost like speaker pelosi entered in. >> what are some of the races that you have been charting now and let's start with new york's race? >> new york washen we talked about a little earlier toni democratic seat in long island that bid cried by about 10 points, that race has n officially been called zimmerman has conceded to the republican in that race. or is at least on track to concede that is going to be a nice pickup for republicans. what is interesting about the race that has flipped so far or are projected to flip in favor of republicans, new york is third as well, they are all in blue states. democrats are really out taking
1:11 am
the coverage in these midwest rust belt states in keeping all their seats in ohio. it might flip one in the cincinnati suburbs, it's just been a really interesting performance and a little scattered performance by republicans who are really underperforming expectations coming into tonight. >> speaking of ohio, steve shah but he lose tonight? >> i don't know if that race has been called yet but the democrat was leading the last returns i was looking at an republican strategist that i have been texting with an emailing, are almost writing that race off. that is going to be a big flip for democrats right now, steve has been on the radar for a little bit especially the past two cycles, a little more favorable map in the cincinnati suburbs. it looks like they're going to pull it off tonight. >> minnesota, what is going on in minnesota? >> it is a really
1:12 am
interesting race and now that we have gone out of virginia, that's another suburban -- that'll be paying attention to as returns keep trickling into ni it's in the minneapolis suburbs that is held by democrat angie craig, she's in a rematch with leading.nd right now angie is it's a su district that democrats flipped in 2018 on their way to the historic majority, y can hold onto it here that's a good sign for the other suburban districts that are still out right now. >> let's go back to new york and new york 17. guest: that is the race for se patrick maloney that is the chair -- he's charged with defending the democrat majority and noinds itself charged with def his own seat. he is trling right now to his republican opponent and it's
1:13 am
ys the shiny trophy to go after the campaign chief, but republicans tried to that. they had a solid chance of doing that here in new york. republicans have invested upwards of $10 million forcing maloney and his allies to put some skin in the game. it's going to be very competitive and what could be ironic is that maloney could lead the democrats to the best midterm performance of a first-term president's party since 2002. not necessarily going to defend the house but minimize their losses. but might end up losing his seat that's the dialogue we are looking at right now as we get more returns throughout the night and probably tomorrow. host: i don't think you're old enough to remember this but guy vander -- was head of the republican at one point, he was a republican from michigan that
1:14 am
lost his seat during one of these cycles. i think he represented the grand rapids area were peter mayer lost his primary to john hobbs. have you seen any results from that race yet. >> it looks like -- first of all i don't look as old -- i appreciate that at this point my life. it does seem like the democrat there is leading, what's really interesting to hear as well is it looks like of the townhouse republicans who voted to impeach president trump and only one is guaranteed to come back to congress. the only other house republican who voted to impeach trump, who did not retire -- like liz cheney he is in a very competitive rates in california and i think he might be the most vulnerable republican on the map. we'll have to wait until we get
1:15 am
more results from california but those southern califraces there, katie porter to michelle field, those might make or break the house majority right now. how much room kevin mccarthy with about half the vote int: katie porter isad 57% over scott bought 242.7%. do you spend much time looking at where these votes come from or the mail and? separate precincts. guest: we do a lot here, just to tell the story of what the election is looking like right now. for example in 2020 a bunch of these battleground races you saw how americans really got election counting 101, were some things were counting the same
1:16 am
day votes, election day votes on election day first. and now republicans in the last election tended to vote more in person on election day the democrats who took advantage of early mail-in ballot -- balance they counted later. so they opened up with a bigger republican lead up with we slowly start chipping away at it, that's what we call it the red mirage. in california that's a healthy lead for katie porter but we're still waiting for more election day votes to be counted before we can say she is in the clear. host: so how many flips do you see on each side right now? guest: right now it's interesting because we are coming off a redistricting ground, there are some automatic flips for example, retiring rep jim cooper decided not to run for reelection after republican in the state legislature --
1:17 am
three letter seats. that's going to be an automatic flip republicans. there are handful of seats in florida where the republican-controlled legislature there, those are automatic flips. in terms of the more competitive races we are watching on the republican side we are looking at new york's third, which we talked about virginia two. in new jersey -- that's three right there for republicans. the democrats we are looking at taxes 34, -- who won a special election earlier this year and lost to fellow representative gonzales, hobbs from the 15th over to the 34th and it looked like democrats were on track to win north carolina's 13th district as well. just outside of raleigh. it's looking like a pretty even night right now, we are waiting
1:18 am
for much more results so don't read too much into this yet. trading seats like this especially in a redistricting cycle, it does look like any sort of republican majority might be camped out at about a net gain of maybe 15 seats. cracks managing editor -- i apologize kirk -- governor federman just came on stage to talk to his supporters here he is live. federman: yeah i mean -- so i am so humbled, thank you so much. what is it, 1:30 in the morning and you are still here? we
1:19 am
launch this campaign almost two years ago and we had our slogan, it's on every one of those signs right now. every county, every vote. every county, every vote. and that's exactly what happened, we jammed them up. we held the line. i never expected that we were going to turn these red counties blue but we did what we needed to do and we had that conversation across every one of those counties. tonight that's why i will be the next u.s. senator from pennsylvania.
1:20 am
thanks to all of you, all of you thank you so much. i am grateful right now, i want to thank of course all these supporters, all across pennsylvania all in this room all across the nation everyone that shipped in 10 bucks to help us get here. thank you. [applause] and also i want to thank my family. my mother, my father carl. susan. my brother greg.
1:21 am
where is he? where is giselle. everyone is here, giselle. who is six months ago she my life. walking out of a bathroom but she recognized what was happening. and also my children, carl, grace. august. [applause] so everyone thank you and i also want to thank my team as well, so many names, brendan my campaign manager.
1:22 am
rebecca, bobby, joe, jason, everybody on my team. so money that were a part of it, and also thank all of my supporters, i am just so proud of the race we ran and this campaign has always been about fighting for everyone. for anyone who has ever been knocked down and got back up, this race is for the future of every community all across pennsylvania. for every small town or person that ever felt left behind, for every job that has ever been lost, for every factory that was ever closed, for every person
1:23 am
that works hard but never got ahead. i am proud of what we ran on. protecting a woman's right to choose. raising our minimum wage. fighting the union way of life. health care is a fundamental human right. it saved my life and it should all be there for you when you need it. standing up to corporate greed. making more things here in america and here in pennsylvania. and standing up for our democracy. 20 years ago i came to start a ged program and i spent these
1:24 am
last two decades fighting for the forgotten communities. because no community deserves to be left behind, no one deserves to be abandoned. and every place matters. i want to again thank all of you amazing supporters, all of you that are watching and -- we bet on the people of pennsylvania and you did not let us down. my promise to all of you is that i will never let you down. thank you pennsylvania, thank you so much. [applause]
1:25 am
the mother and me wants to tell everybody to go to bed tonight and get some sleep. host: several news organizations have declared federman a winner of the senate race, what else to have for us this evening? >> one of the networks that did call that race tetjohn fetterman wins pnsylvania, now gop has to win at nevada andeorgia which looks likely to go to a decemb roff. to take back the majority, mark
1:26 am
kelly is up by -- with 52% reporting than there is this from nathan gonzal of inside elections, 31 of 87 comtive health races have a projected winner, all have broken according to our inside election ratings. de he won six of 20 tossup's, gop zero of 20 so far. it democrats likely need to win 19 of 28 to maintain control. let's just give you some results from interesting house races. this is from north dakota's 13th district, this seat was left open by ted -- when he ran for the senate seat he won it. wiley nickel is the next member of congress, democrati congressman wiley nickel will be serving -- was unable to win that. at the 27-year-old endorsed by trump. in california' 40th district,
1:27 am
here is a familiar name, adam schip, a member of ngss since 2d impeachment manager, he has been elected f the 34th district in texas,ct. this is an incumbent versus an incumbent matchup. however florez -- has only been an incumbent since she wonhe special election's primary -- special election in june i should say. she was unable to defeat vincente gonzales tonight. in new hampshire's first district this was a tossup, people watching thisly. the democratic congressman pulls it out and will get another term in congress. host: we will continue to take your calls and share results with you throughout the evening, for another half hour or so.
1:28 am
our -- we are expecting republican leader kevin mccarthy to speak here in washington shortly. we will bring that to life as well, but now back to voices. bill in eureka california on the independt ne. it thank you for holding. caller: thanks for having m and my 56 years on planet earth i have been an independent g right down the middle calling it like i see them. way, i don't like the democrats but the modern republican party makes my guts go nuts. i don't like them one b. onehinghey continue to go on about is the economy, but our governor newsom has built an economy that recently passed the country of germany in size. despite being an indep, i voted for newsom based on the economy he has built and even then it we hear from republicans that continue to slander this
1:29 am
great state and slander the economy he has built, still moving forward. i am going to continue to keep a watchful eye from the center where i have always sat. i don't have a lot of other options. i agree with one of the recent callers we need to move beyond the two-party system. i am too libertarian to be a libertarian, who i think are glorified republicans. green party has not done anything interesting since dennis kucinich. moving forward i am going to vote for based on three distinct issues, that is black lives matter, trans lives matter, and jeffrey epstein did not kill himself. thanks for coming out. >> lets bill in california, this is jay in georgia a democrat. how has election day 2022 turned out for you as a democrat in georgia? caller: it's been a bit
1:30 am
strange, i myself wanted -- and then brian kim won. it is looking good for warnock and that is a good thing. i had to vote for my pastor i am a proud to say i am a member of that church, there is one thing i want to say. for the last caller who said california is economy is bigger than germany, at 1.i did live in germany and it is an interesting point to make. at the present time that is the statistic, it is only because germany is having a rough go at it in relation to the ukraine war, but i would say are you ready in case there is a runoff in the georgia senate are you ready to get out and vote again? caller: absolutely i support
1:31 am
k more than herschel walker. he is a strange fellow, a great football playerut a strange guy. i don't think he is ready to be in the senate. even if the republican strategy was let's get football people out there, it works in alabama but herschel walker is not that guy. you can take his personal life aside but he is not ready for the senate of the united states. host: thank you for calling in from georgia, chris and california. a democrat. chris how was election day 2022 for you and what are some of the issues you care about? caller: election day went well for me, i went in and dropped off my ballot. i think the biggest thing is noticing how things were this year compared to how things have been in the past. to me no one talks about polling data.
1:32 am
i feel like younger people even millennials, are not giving pulls the results -- i think they are making pulls less predictive is what i'm trying to say. i don't know if you agree with me, but i have seen totally skewed predictions here. for a lot of different pix across the country. host: what are some of the issues you care about, some of the legislative issues or social issues? caller: i think the legislative issues that i really have concern for our climate of course, i think some of the social issues i have a deep concern for honestly -- host: thank you, lester in new jersey, republican line hi lester. caller: how are you doing, host:
1:33 am
how was election day for you? caller: it was good i am happy that my boy tom kane, i don't know if he is a winner or not, but i think -- host: i apologize for those a reminder to her viewers please turn down your volume on your tv you will be able to hear everything through your telephone. rosemary in san antonio independent line it is your turn. caller: thank youccepng my call. for me i am happy that greg abbott here in texas'sne j i could not vote democrat there no way, i took things
1:34 am
personal. i kept an eye on the house speaker and how she has been handling things and i personally did not like the wa handled trump. when i voted for him, i did not like tay s did it. escially the state, i took that personally anr that i kept an eye on her and somethi about her i did not like. anythe iinvolved and i don't trust her. i am also first-generation here in america, i was born here and my dad was from mexico and he came over here doing things right. there was no hand outs when it comes to the border issues. there was no handout for him and in the 70's it was unheard of for a father to handle two kids on his own. we do not have that help it also for me to see what's happening in our nation with open borders,
1:35 am
it terrifies me. not knowing who is coming in and do a 911 again. we don't know that. my grandma always said -- it's kind of scary and i'm glad that texas right now is still red. host: prior to the election there had been talk that it was going to be a lot more red than it had been tonight, so are you surprised by that? caller: no actually i am not i am glad we are still red because of the policies coming from this administration. i will share with you in 2003, my husband and i -- we loan our truck and at that time we were just training. we got out of -- host: rosemary are you still with us? caller:
1:36 am
we applied for food stamps, this is a true story. i was there when my husband and i were filling out the application and we saw a couple that you could tell they did not belong here and the lady was holding onto this box. they ended up qualifying for food stamps and it was $800 and i could see her face where she was very ungrateful with 800, keep in mind i was there for only $20. i just wanted to buy the bare necessities because at that time i had my young boy, i had to end up calling rick perry and he's the one that told me what these policies have been implemented and he said since i'm here from texas i will go ahead and help you. if it was not for that help i don't know where i would be today. i don't know if he remembers me but i played -- prayed for the whole nation. on how divided we are. on these issues that have been happening for such a long time.
1:37 am
it's perfect timing for trump to come in to expose all of this. host:osemary in san antonio, w earlier tonight we heard from the republican nominee for governor. here's katie hobbs, the democrat nominee for governor of arizona. >> please welcome your democratic nominee for governor of arizona, katie hobbs.
1:38 am
katie: hello arizona. thank you so much for being here, thank you for your support throughout our entire campaign. i'm going to keep this short because i know we are expecting a long evening. we have seen the first results come in and we are doing good. that's because of all of the hard work that everyone in this room has put in. you all made calls, you knocked on doors, you talk to your friends, your friends, your family and neighbors about what is at stake in the selection.
1:39 am
most importantly, you got out and voted. now that the campaign is over and polls have closed, the county election officials are hard at work tabulating those votes. they're going to be tabulating them for the next few days. i note that we are all eager to find out who won each of these incredibly important places, but we need to be patient and we need to wait for every vote to be counted. because every single vote matters, and every single vote counts equally. whether you voted by mail, dropped off your ballot in a secure dropbox yesterday or voted in person today. we know my opponent and her allies have been sowing doubts and confusion throughout this campaign. it's unacceptable that they were spreading this information today while people were exercising their freedom to vote. i have every confidence that the
1:40 am
counties administrating -- administering the selection conducted free and a fair election. there results will be accurate. it will take time so prepare for a long evening and a few more days of counting. for now let's go enjoy the evening. [applause] >> that was democrat katie hobbs, gubernatorial candidate in arizona. she came out just like kari lake did a little bit earlier to talk to her supporters, let's go back to your calls we are still waiting for kevin mccarthy to come out and speak. he's here in washington, let's hear from a shell poughkeepsie new york. republican line, show how this election day 2022 turn caller: on for you? caller: i t it was a meaningful
1:41 am
experience to go in and by my tingnd not be obstructed. the machines poughkeepsie it seemed to be worng ok but we don't know until all kinds of investigations occur. i willay tt what motivated o leave the democrat party, all my parents were all democrats, and professors in academia, and their parents were democrats, but the democratic party started to appear to me to be no longer for the common people. but started to have some other agenda attached to it, and when -- were notes in the fourth estate and the trouble we have with the press has been co-opted by big pharma, big telecom, etc., we are in trouble from my point of view. i believe that 45 exposed us, then we started having a real
1:42 am
big issues with radical freedom, medical mandates, experimental therapies being imposed on our children and whether we wanted to work or school. we are ignoring the nuremberg code. it makes us feel like there are forces within our country that want to weaken our country to force this global reset that has been planned. host: working to leave your comments there and talk to eileen in florida. democrat. hi eileen. caller: i was dating a democrat in the state of florida, i was disappointed but certainly not surprised. however originally being from pittsburgh, very glad to see john fetterman and shapiro get
1:43 am
their nominations. i was also very happy to see kari lake lose and i'm very disappointed in republicans and their hateful talk. even governor kemp when he gave his victory speech, he had to bring in all his opponents and had to talk about trump -- not trump, had to talk about biden and talk about what they didn't like about him and what they didn't like about stacey abrams. they are just not republicans have lost civility or i don't know how else to say it but i think democrats -- i'm glad to
1:44 am
see things working out. even in the state of florida. host: that was eileen up next is paul who is calling in from washington state. is that it washington paul? please go ahead and make your comment about caller: election caller: 2022. first i would like to thank you for offering this service, it is a blessing so thank you. one of the issues that concerns me is the rampant divisiveness that i feel is surrounding us and inside of us. it is a poison. i would like us to think about perpetuating ourselves kinder all of us. we are all one family that is largely forgotten this truth.
1:45 am
we need to heal us and our planet it is talking and many of us refused to listen. there is nothing we can do but listen and come together and heal and hopefully save our future, my children's future in their children's future. so that's basically what i wanted to say, i would just like to say i would like to see us perpetuating our self -- host: how did the senate race turn out for you? caller: i did vote for patty, because i felt the other ticket was more divisive. was ideally what i was lookinghe for,er i believe she has a good heart and is working hard for this state. and its citizens. host: thank you paul for calling
1:46 am
in, up next is charles and charles is in peach creek west virginia. democrat. charles go ahead and make your comment. caller: i'm glad to be on, host: charles can i ask you to turn on your tv. caller: oh i am sorry, yeah. host: you can hear it through your phone just tell us what you want to talk about. caller: what happened to the big red wave? people are not crazy. they realize it was not prudent to be voting republican right now. i don't think that america is that crazy that they would be voting republican to the extent they thought they were going to be voting. most of the polls were showing that they were way underwater. but it did not turn out that way.
1:47 am
host: why do you think that is? caller: i just think people realize that the deniers, the election deniers, that democracy was truly on the ballot. that was not what the voters were asking for, they were more worried about the money in their pockets. but what voters don't understand is the president doesn't have anything to do with the economy. and what little bit he does, it's because of previous administrations laws and rules that they have passed. but the economy is based on supply and demand, it is that simple. with the problems with the whole world right now, is in a situation where inflation is up. it has nothing to do with biden and i am tired of hearing beau
1:48 am
biden this, bite in that. that is all i have heard here in west virginia. host: speaking of that we had a collar earlier say this was not a referendum and this was a republican caller, say this was not a referendum on president biden but a referendum on former president trump. what do you think? caller: i think they give trump way too much credit, he was not on the ballot and i don't think they were voting for him. their votes did not have anything to do with trump i don't believe. host: we have to leave it there raphael warnock is back on the stage in atlanta. >> maybe i should say good morning. here is where we are. we are not sure if this journey is over tonight or if there are
1:49 am
still a little work yet to do. but here is what we do know. we know that when they are finished counting the votes from today's election, that we are going to have received more votes than my opponent. and we know that once again, the people of georgia showed up and said loud and clear it that you want a senator who is going to do the work for georgia. that you want someone who every day is going to wake up and work for all of georgia and that is the work i have committed myself to doing from day one. somebody who understands that we in the words of dr. king, are tired to a single garment of destiny caught up in an inescapable network of mutuality's. what affects one directly
1:50 am
affects all indirectly, in other words we are all in this together. i understand that at this late hour, you may be tired. i may be a little tired. but whether it is later tonight or tomorrow, or four weeks from now, we will hear from the people of georgia, we will hear from the people who have given me a great honor of my life. representing you in the united states senate. and we will move forward together. i remain as committed to this work as i have ever been. i look forward to continuing on that journey together over the next six years.
1:51 am
god bless each and every one of you. good morning. keep the faith. keep looking up. thank you. st: while 81% of the vote in georgia senate is in, senator warnock has 49.4%. herschel walker 48.6% about a 30,000 vote difference. it is a 50% plus one state, so if neither gets 50% we get to do
1:52 am
it again in december. back to your calls we have a few minutes left here, kathryn in new york. democrat good evening catherine. caller: i think you have a platform where you give freedom of expression to the people and i adore your show. my vote was stolen today. i was not informed that the machine was broken. i ended up calling up the election board and what have you. and i get told -- i say is that right. i say i was not informed that the machine was broken. i was not given the opportunity to hold onto my vote until the machine was fixed. we could have that because then -- the lady in the polling place when i went back -- she said well you see what happened with that was people will start stacking up and then it would be like 10 people and there's a building code and all you group
1:53 am
of people standing around for the machine to be fixed would be considered loiterers. that's aggressive intimidation and harassment. they did not have the right not to inform me there was a broken voting machine and there was no explanation of whether this thing was going to get fixed. they did exactly what trump said, they slid it into a slot it went down, there was a plastic thing to make sure the thing was secured to never get it out again, i got my vote stolen today. these need to get fixed at some point and i was like why is this machine locking up and they said because this machine is broken. host: we appreciate you sharing your experience letters from darrell in oregon, how's that gubernatorial race looking out there? caller: i think it may be going to democrats, i'm a retired officer in the army.
1:54 am
i don't understand -- and i'm not picking on the democrats because all my relatives are democrats -- how the democrats can be so -- as to have federman and pennsylvania -- when we were in the military we had to be on top of things and do it correctly. 100%. and what gets me is they brought in obama, obama was a product of an atomic -- where he was taught as a child to hate america. hate israel and you can hear that by whenever he came out to talk, host: we are trying to talk about election 2022 this evening. eli and washington a republican, what are your comments about
1:55 am
today and election 2022. caller: it was pretty good, i think i'm not a big fan of what the republicans have done, but then i don't know, i'm just on a big democrat guy either. i think biden is an idiot. i think he can go to hell. host: it looks like kevin mccarthy is going to be coming out in a minute to speak to the crowd, we will go to that live. here he comes.
1:56 am
>> while we are waiting for kevin mccarthy to come out let's check in. >> while we wait let's go through some leadership results.
1:57 am

1:58 am
he gets 73% of the vote, that is in right now. host: back to your calls as we wait to hear from kevin mccarthy. chris and west virginia, democrat please go ahead. caller: i am having a very difficult night. i truly believe that the democrats are spineless and that the republicans are worthless. that's where i met. host: winston from new york, republican. were going to have to put you on hold because kevin mccarthy is now out. [applause]
1:59 am
kevin: thank you all very much i know it is a late night but first i want to start by thinking every single candidate and their families for running. i also want to thank the staff in the volunteers across this country that supported this movement. thank you to everyone who voted republican for the very first time. i want to thank the millions of supporters across this country, two years ago when i became leader republicans had less than 200 seats in the house. that cycle we picked up 14 seats when every single person said that would be impossible. if you believe in freedom, hard work, and the american dream, these results proved that there was a place for you in the republican party.
2:00 am
>> now tonight we built upon those gains two years ago, it is clear that we are going to take the house back. in new york we defeated the democratic campaign chairman, sean patrick maloney which will be the first time in over 40 years the d triple c chair lost his reelection. not only that but on long island anthony macedo won a seat that joe biden carried by 17 points. we're on the verge of historic gains in new york and florida we gained four seats alone.
2:01 am
we are poised to sweep the entire state of iowa. i will tell you from the southern border of monica de la cruz to virginia beach, to detroit in houston, we are expanding this party. let me tell you, they are linked. but when you wake up tomorrow we will be in the majority nancy pelosi will be in the minority. the american people are ready for a majority. that will offer a new direction, that will put america back on track. republicans are ready to deliver. it's a new direction towards an economy that is strong where you
2:02 am
can fill up your tank, feed your family and where your paychecks grow and not shrink. a new direction towards a nation that is safe and more communities are protected, law enforcement is protected and criminals are prosecuted. a new direction towards the future that is built on freedom or children come first and are taught to dream big. and a new direction towards a government that is accountable, or government works for you instead of against you. republicans will work with anyone who is willing to join us to deliver this new direction. that americans have demanded. there is no time to waste, our work begins now. let's get america back on track. thank you, god bless, good night.
