thank god for whoever made the decision to get rid of tucker carlson. host: did you get this from what others would say about him?
12:36 pm
caller: no. i would switch to see the different views on msnbc, cbs, what is it, msnbc, cnn and fox news. every time you turn the channel to fox news, the hatred just spews out of the television set. i'm so proud that it reminds me of the day obama stood up in front of the nation and said, we got 'em. we got tucker carlson, thank god. host: that's cynthia in florida giving her thoughts. "the washington post" adding up to the background to the events concerning tucker carlson's firing. saying the decision was made friday evening. susan scott, a person familiar with the decision, spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss personnel matters. the host himself, the last appearance was friday on his nightly show. only learned of the firing

monday morning. the team spent the weekend working on their summer shows, who spoke on the question of anonymity, the network was still running promos for mr. carlson's show monday morning. . that's just soupl of the background when it comes to the situation of yesterday. when it comes to fox news particularly, this is debbie thompson's comment on the facebook page saying we canceled fox nation yesterday. adding that karlsson -- carlson and one of the other hosts were the main shows we watched on fox. we set a line for all others. besides fox news and cnn viewers. david in new york on our line for others, you are next up. caller: good morning, pedro. the more significant event is the firing of tucker carlson. don lemon, his program in the

ratings was just not working. i think that was more an economic decision rather than having to do with his behavior. tucker carlson promotes conspiracy theories and is a definite danger to our civic conversation. host: the comments about nikki haley and women being past their prime, you don't think that factored into the decision? caller: i'm sure that factored into the decision. but at the same time the roll out of the new format on cnn morning was a disaster. it's just not the right role for don lemon. if he made a proper apology at the time and moved forward, i think that his late night program would have been perfect for him. he could have gone back to that if that's what they wanted. host: david in new york. weeks cnn bookers diskofrtd some guests did not want to appear on the air with him and research on the morning show reviewed by cnn executives found its popularity with audiences has fallen, according to one of the people. that story adds mr. lemon's abrupt exit, fall for an anchor, seven months ago was ensconced in prime time, his long running program, he drew fans for his spike i exchanges and pull no punches on the commentary in the trump white house. he imported that persona to cnn this morning, it was awkward fit for an hour when many viewers making breakfast and getting children to school want easy going patter not thundering monologues. that's "the new york times'" take on the events of yesterday concerning don lemon. courtney in santa barbara, california, a fox news viewer. you are next up. caller: hi. it's beyond tragic. this cancel culture is completely out of control at

this point. i think firing either one of these gentlemen is just a tragic mistake for our country. it's -- if anybody slips up or says the wrong thing or looks the wrong way or has the wrong opinion or a different opinion than what's acceptable to the elites, they are canceled. the same thing they did to roseanne. let these people down off the cross. they are human beings, not robots. we want them that way, don't we? is this still america? i don't know. host: do you think that the events of the dominion lawsuit were the main drivers of mr. carlson's separation from fox? caller: no. i think his popularity is the main driver for the separation. i think if he wasn't so popular, if so many people weren't listening to him and wanting to get a different perspective.
12:41 pm
i believe that there are a lot of things that need to be looked into. i think the lawsuit is just more malicious -- our judiciary is out of control. it's completely commandeered. this has been completely politicized and weaponized and they are going after anyone who even pretends to like donald trump. he dew point even like donald trump. but just his popularity and different view i think is what got him canceled. host: before you go, you identify yourself as a fox news viewer. do you think your viewing habits will change in light of what happened? caller: yes. i will not be watching fox. it wasn't like it was so great to begin with. he was somebody i did enjoy watching. he was passionate, intelligent. and just not fluff, rag journalism. like we have become so used to hearing the same opinions
12:42 pm
that -- why aren't all the people being canceled who talked about russia disinformation and the dossier and this and that? there is so much journalism that is not accurate. there should be some culpable there -- culpability there. i don't believe that anything coming out of the judiciary these days we should take seriously. we see that as politicized and corrupted and targeting people and letting actual murderers and people who are diabolical, actual criminals walk out on the streets amongst american citizens. host: ok. let's hear from doug. doug in boston, on our line for others. hi. doug in boston, hello. one more time for doug. caller: good morning. how you doing today? host: fine, thank you, go ahead.

caller: good morning. host: caller, you are on the air, go ahead, please. we'll go to janice in california. a cnn viewer. good morning, hi. caller: good morning. i have a couple of comments that i'd like to make. the first one to the very first caller who called in screaming hallelujah about tucker carlson being off the air. disgraceful. she talks about the fact that everything she hears on fox is hate and this and that. that is a bald face lie. i get it's up to anyone's interpretation. i have listened to joe talk about trump in every other form than the president. he's called tpheupl hymn a thug -- called him out a thug. don lemon, he has been a miss

songnies. he's arrogant. rude. he's disrespectful. and i think it's long overdue that he got fired. as for tucker carlson, he's one of the best journalists out there. one of the very best. and fox will regret the move they made. i left fox after the election. and what they did then. with the 2016 election with their stupidity then. and it seems they have not learned. i know that this reason that tucker carlson has been fired has to do with the democrats. tucker carlson revealed the innocence of that man walking through the capitol, chuck schmuck schumer was there and demanded that tucker be fired. that's what this is all about. host: ok. cnn viewer in georgia. columbus, georgia. bert. caller: good morning. how you doing, pedro?
12:45 pm
host: fine, thank you. go ahead. caller: well, i look at it this way. you get a lot of different views when you look -- you watch fox news or oan news or if you watch the other -- max news. then you try to watch cnn or msnbc, you have a lot of different opinions. a lot of them are good opinions that you can take with you. and a lot of them are bad opinions. the thing about it is this, your local news repeats all the bad opinions. they don't ever try to come up with their own opinion on a president or a senator or a -- president biden: national labor relations board that cares about working people. stronger davis-bacon rules and executive order on p.o.a.'s. did joe biden stop there? >> no, he didn't. a chips bill to
