>> that is the conclusion of the session, and you your calls about the indictment of former president trump. and a connection to the document case as -- at mar-a-lago. the numbers are on the screen. you can also text us to the number on your screen. we will continue with calls until 10:00. the president put out a video statement about the series of events. the corrupt biden administration has id my attorney that i have been edthis hoax even though joe biden has 650 boxes.
9:05 am
the pa open for much of the time. i have been summoned to app in miami on to tuesday at 3 p.m.. i never thought it possible that such a thing could happen a present of the united states who received pharma votes than a sitting president in the history of the coury i leading all candidates, democrat and republican, with the poles of 2024. presidential election. i am an innocent man. that is from his truth social account. bacteria calls. we are started off in this final hour. are bright in tallahassee. democrat. hello. barbara in florida, hello? >> i am here. >> you are on. >> ok. well, if i don't have enough with ron desantis in the state of florida, now, i've got trump saying how innocent he is. he is not innocent. he is gotten calls.
9:06 am
all of this rhetoric just came across truth social. it just tells you that this man thinks he is above the law. he is above everything. now, i have ron desantis defending him. if i don't have enough problems on my hand, i've got it with these two men, and they need to step up and get him for what he has done wrong in this country. thank you. have a great day. >> republican line, robber in indiana. go ahead. >> yes. i have never -- i am a sixers old and i've never seen a government like we've got. trump is -- state been at him every time. probably since he was born. look. they cannot let this man rest. i don't know why he wants to go ahead and take all of this and still try to run this country. he is for this country.
9:07 am
he is not for these idiots overseas. he is here to run this country and he's got children just like the rest of us. they've got a right to live in this country. >> caller. how does this relate to yesterday? >> i think he is innocent. they just want to get him out of there because he's running for president. that's what this is all about. you can see. >> go ahead. >> not many people vote for him. never got out. he killed people for its campaign meetings, and then they sent a card to blow the horns, and this is stupid. >> nancy in kentucky, democrat. what's up? >> morning? i think it is amazing that all of this stuff is coming. it doesn't matter -- matter which side of the aisle you are
9:08 am
on. if biden is guilty, allow him to be. trump is also allowed to be. just believe that is wrong with the country right now. we have and so divided. this has been added and multiply by god. he does not divide or subtract. i pray everything comes to light. we can just see it for what it is. we can come to terms with it. that is nancy in kentucky. the previous caller mentioned ron desantis, governor of florida. he commented on some other candidates about the events of yesterday. governor desantis puts the weaponization of law enforcement making a mortal threat to eight free society. there is an uneven application of the law, depending on political affiliation. why so zealous in pursuing yet still so passive about hillary and hunter. they will bring accountability
9:09 am
into the doj excised local bias and weaponization, once appropriate the former governor said we don't get our news from trump's truth social account. let's see what the facts are. it possible indictment says that nunez above the law, to matter how many people wish they were. you have more to say when revealed. a longer process this. we can't have two tiers of justice. wynford trump and one for biden. one for blm and for the peaceful protesters. it will be easier to win this election, but i stand for principles over politics. i commit to pardon trump properly in 2025. and restore the rule of law in our country. asa hutchinson put out a statement as wel
9:10 am
he said, wit the news that donald trump i been indicted for the secon time, our country finds itself in a position that weakens our democracy. donald trump's actionsithis willful disregard to the constitution should not define ouon o the republican. this is a sad day for our country. what we are -- while he is entitled to the presumption of innocence, this is a major distraction. we must respect the office of this campaign. that is some of the thought from those interested in the white house itself. james in kentucky. republican line. hello. >> hello. how are you. >> i just want to say -- i hate to say it this way, but anywhere trump goes, any court he goes to is not going to be his friend. you are, washington or atlanta. but he will vote to accord of -- record a friend. that is the same that it has to go that way because they will find him guilty, no matter what
9:11 am
happens, but when he takes to the supreme court, that is where his friends are. they're going to throw it out. it shouldn't be that way. it should not be that way that this is the way it will turn out. and i thank you for taking my call. >> marvin from oklahoma, independent line. >> good morning. >> you are on. i think the law of the churches is trump from at least four different directions, it looks like. i don't want to see any ex-president in prison. i think it makes us look like a third world country. i think there are two cases that are very important that we need to go to trial and at least need to find him innocent or guilty. that's why i want the documents. it is important that we establish whether or not the
9:12 am
president -- we want him to be more of a king or do we want him to be subject to the laws of everyone else. that's why it's important to go forward with that. if he is found guilty, i don't want him in prison for that. but in georgia, there is going to be an indictment or found guilty of interfering with the georgia election. i think he has to go to prison for it because it would look even worse than sending an ex-president to prison. it will look worse if we let him capture and election and all that. >> james in kentucky, democrat. good morning. >> i've been a lifelong democrat. until jill biden. and this is the worst, screwed
9:13 am
country in the world. until we get equal justice under the law for all people, you can tell the way they treat hunter and joe biden is that they are cricketer than a dog's hound. -- dog's hind leg did this is destroying our country. thank you. >> william in rhode island. republican. >> hello. i was listening to your broadcast, and i think it is wrong that they keep trying to indict trump when they coat after biden. he is the one who is in bed with the communists. >> ok. >> cindy is in texas, independent. >> i just want to say i do think
9:14 am
trump is going to be. i voted for biden and i am not happy with every thing he has done. i think if hunter had done something wrong, he should be prosecuted. but trump, he has done a million things wrong, and he has made this country worse than it was. so, have the republicans. they have gone along with everything trump has done, and they could have impeached him, but they didn't. they should have because he was guilty. but they didn't. those of you that have all of these talking points from fox news, fox was client 87 million dollars because they been lying to their audience for years. so have the republicans.
9:15 am
they been lying about trump. that's why you believe what you believe. they lie to you. they tell you what to think, and you go out into the world and you parrot everything they say. >> that is cindy in texas again. we will continue on with your calls. concerning the events of yesterday, the president, former president trump is expected to be indicted fight documents. the numbers are on your screen. one of the people making an appearance on the show yesterday on cnn was the current attorney of trump. he talked about what he expected when trump shows up to a federal court on tuesday. >> which legal team will be with trump on tuesday? will he show up on tuesday? >> yes. he will show up. he knows he is innocent. he knows this is garbage and
9:16 am
there is a fundamental flaw with each of these counts in this indictment, and he knows the whole process, strengthen the archive is corrupt and politicized. he is not shrinking from the fight. he is disappointed this is where we are and this is where the department of justice is, but you will not see him hiding in scotland. he will be ready to handle these things invited you will see. it will make excitement to see who shows up. >> is not clear which attorneys will be with him. it is interesting to see how you will handle this. >> we will see where this goes. >> from minnesota, this is joe. democrat. >> hello. one of the things that amazes me of all of these speaking methods that the republicans do, no one has said trump has done nothing wrong. he is completely innocent.
9:17 am
all they do is try to appease what he does by saying what other people have done or not done, and other people have been prosecuted or accused of anything, or they been cleared of it. if they think he is right, the first thing they should say when they get off the phone is trump has done nothing wrong, but none of us can say that because it is not true. they just tried to find someone who is in the same category so that it makes it seem like he is like everything else, but he is a dangerous man and god help us if we don't take care of making sure that we do not become an authoritarian country. we have been a great country and i hope it stays that way. >> thank you. up next, republican. go ahead. >> give me a break.
9:18 am
what planet are you democrats on. honest to god. if trump did half of what biden did, i as an american would know that's not right for our country and i would admit that. you cannot admit what you're president is doing right now. he has laundered money. he has done everything, but he blames trump for doing it. it is insane that no one ceases it why is he not being indicted. he has taken money from other countries for years. why is this not brought up? i am so brunner what -- blown away by this. gone -- god bless america. >> kimberly in arizona. the washington post is reminding us this was in november that merrick garland appointed special counsel saying that the president announced a candidacy for the biden reelection bid. there could be a layer of independence for the investigation involving mr.
9:19 am
trump. separate special counsel robert hurt has been appointed to investigate how much this document was taken to the home and office. mr. trump claims he is not in charge because the contact was worse, but states the known evidence appears to dwarf the fact for the biden case for many months. prosecutors have questioned the mar-a-lago case, but the grand jury and the secret with evidential mishandling of justice. people familiar with the investigation have said it makes a federal courthouse in the nation a focal point of the waiting game. president trump is the first former president indicted by the justice society -- justice department bread we are getting comments on this during our time. the rest of the show today. we will hear from dennis in mississippi, next. democrats line. you are on. go ahead.
9:20 am
i've never seen so much corruption. i am 66 years old. i've never seen so much corruption in my life. it is really corrupt. it is really corrupt. >> what did you think about the events of yesterday concerning the president. >> i think he should go to jail. for the rest of his life. he is to corrupt. he is a corrupt president. it is worse now. it's really going to be worse. >> ok. david is next in kansas. republican. >> thank you for taking the call. there are several points to make. first, the hurricane crossfire. the papers taken from that were shown to be all set up by
9:21 am
hillary clinton. nothing was done for that. the second point. they impeached trump. not the senate. for what is being done right now for blocking the election. trying to get the upcoming election by saying i would like to go -- know what is going on with ukraine with joe biden son. and they impeached him for just asking to look into it. here, they are actually -- joe biden is in charge and merrick garland. the ag said we want trump. and that is all for taking the papers that are right to take as the president, and then you negotiate those papers with the
9:22 am
national archives. >> there is a different way of doing this, and they did not do it that way. they were going after him to just stop them from being president. and there were so many more things that went wrong with what they have been trying to get him and they never -- and never did he do a dam thing wrong. he may probably stash promises to the country any cap promises. here, the democrats are trying to stop the best employment for all people when trump was there in the last hundred years. there was the lowest unemployment. >> that is david. let's hear from leonard in pennsylvania, democrat. >> hello rid >> yes. i'm listening to these folks talk, and yes, i am a democrat.
9:23 am
when i think about what happen with trump, he is probably getting what he deserves, and that is when he is facing another indictment and he is facing an indictment ever since the became the president. now, he is facing more indictment and i think that yes. ok. leave it up to the court to do what they need to do and you will find out that he is guilty again. thank you for letting me share. >> ok. charles in new jersey, independent. good morning. >> hello? >> this is charles. yes. thank you for taking my call. i don't understand what is going on with the -- all of these
9:24 am
things going on -- i have to watch what i'm saying. all of these things with the politicians. trump has done nothing to any other president, and none of them -- they all got away with what they did in they are making an example of trump, and i was thinking about not voting for trump but now that they've indicted him, if he runs, i will vote for him. that's all i have to say. the man made promises and he kept everyone of them. maybe you don't like his attitude or the way he speaks, but the man got the job done. that's all i have to say. >> brat is an california, republican line. >> this is brad. i just wanted to say that i think trump did nothing wrong. he hasn't done anything wrong, and biden has done a whole bunch of stuff wrong. the biggest thing i'm upset about is what biden has done to our economy. it has kept me from being able
9:25 am
to retire because of the economy, and i think that is all messed up. he really messed up the economy like crazy. that is my biggest thing. biden has messed things up, and on me, myself personally, i can even retire first six or seven more years because i don't have the ability to do that because of the screw ups that he has done to the economy. >> you think that the former president has done nothing wrong. why is that? >> because you can see how supercharge the democrats and its people are against coming up with all of these things that they say he has done when he hasn't done those things. he has not done them at all. they are made up charges. they are kept from keeping the opponent in the election. that is a horrible thing to do. it is so obvious.
9:26 am
biden accepted $5 million as a bribe from the ukraine. why is that not being prosecuted? biden has twice -- 100 times, more documents than trump had. why isn't he being prosecuted for that. why are they looking into that stuff? >> is not been brought up. >> a federal grand jury, ultimately, that led the special counsel to an indictment. why would you question that work? why do you think that? >> i'm questioning -- look at what new york did. all of those charges -- everyone knows they screwed up. it doesn't take a lawyer to know that. they will come out on tuesday and be meaningless. they will. he has a grand jury. they don't get a chance to --
9:27 am
trump doesn't get a chance to talk. none of his people get a chance to bring anything up. it will be interesting to see, but i think it will be a bunch of crab like everything else. >> that is brad in california. next tuesday is when the former president is expected to hear formal charges, and that is what the federal court will do. the story breaks yesterday with the president and other recordings that are out there. we are taking calls on this for -- until 10:00. let's hear from plainfield new jeeydemocrats. good morning. for openers, you hear people say that they declassify documents with themselves. no president can d. yes, the pnt can declassify documents, but there is a protocol to go through. you have to consult congress first. that is number one. all morning long, we have heard people say the president has the
9:28 am
right to declassify any document u.s.. he does not have that right. people talk about joe biden taking money from ukraine or russia, or from china. there is no evidence that joe biden has taken money from anybody. the american people. that is nonsense. this last person who got off the line said that every promise a president trump mate's, dashed makes, he collects. he said he would make something better than the affordable care act. he had for years to come up with that, and guess what? he did not. the problem is that we don't teach civics in school anymore. otherwise, people would understand how our government works, but no, you cannot just put your hand on any document and declassify because he wants to or the dust in his mind, what should be a brain, he has the ability do that. >> that is conrad. let's hear from arkansas.
9:29 am
nick from the independent line. x hello rid you are doing all right read go ahead. awesome. well, what i've heard today is one about hilary, what about biden, what about the other documents it hillary and biden complied with subpoenas, and the reason was they were trying to hide nothing. they didn't try to obfuscate the law and and what they were supposed to get away with, and that is why trump is going to have to face the concert winces for his actions. ok? another thing. x all of the commies people in the government. you know what? communism isn't authoritarian. communism is workers counsel and socialism and the people owning the means of production ok. >> we got your point. list go to oklahoma. hello. >> good morning. yes.
9:30 am
i would like to that trump did nothing wrong. the last caller, when he called in, he mentioned he had no right to declassify those documents. every president prior to nixon had the right to walk off with documents and he did not back those documents. this was all handled by personnel that worked with the archives. and he said, on many occasions, i will give you anything you want, my house at mar-a-lago is open, come by, pick up what you want and he had a cordial relationship with the fbi. this is the deep state at its worst. we are being overrun by a cabal in washington, d.c.. if there anyone's -- anyone
9:31 am
things that he will get a fair trial in washington, thank god it will be in florida. if it ever goes to washington, there is no chance that this man gets a fair trial. . host: got your point, eric there. that is eric finishing off to a half hours we have been going at it, taking your calls over the events of yesterday concerning the former president indicted in the declassify documents case. we will continue for half an hour more. (202) 748-8001 for republicans, (202) 748-8000 for democrats, independents (202) 748-8002. a few bits of news outside of the events of yesterday, present biden headed to north carolina today to talk about issues concerning his reelection but also jobs in the economy, high inflation, out of rocky mountain out of w tbd. the trip to rocky mount and is aimed at persuading voters that has policies are making the
9:32 am
economy better in the long term. president of the united states not so much" the chamber of commerce president saying it's exciting when the president comes to any community, especially one in rocky mount and. the president is headed to rocky mount and then you can see that on c-span, look for it on our website or on c-span.org and you can follow along on our app. when it comes to yesterday, the president briefly spoke at an event at the white house with the british prime minister but cnbc following up with a story about the administration efforts on that front saying it was the president of assuring americans the government was aiding canada's fighting -- fight in the wildfires that coats the midwest in hayes. more than 600 u.s. firefighters, support personnel, and assets deployed working alongside canadian firefighters to tackle what is likely to be the worst fire even in canadian history,
9:33 am
one that has huge impacts in the united states. that was put out in the white house, the president making those comments, the british prime minister. you can see the comments on our website. from south dakota, dan, democrats line. hello. caller: yes, pedro, the republicans will follow trump to their grave or i should say to jail. they will nominate him. even if he is not in jail they will nominate him and they will lose again. he has been charged with seven felonies. what is sad is they would have a good candidate if they nominate desantis. i think he would have a good candidate at beating biden. i think he would a good chance at beating 81-year-old biden. but trump is ranked the third worst president of all time, republicans. get off this guy's horse.
9:34 am
nominate desantis and i think he's got a good shot at winning the white house in 2024. i do. i am an independent democrat. thank you. host: benjamin in massachusetts, independent line. hello. caller: good morning, sir. when you give up liberty and freedom for security, you are not deserving of either one. i would just like to say that you need to think of what hillary clinton did with -- or her cronies did. what people need to do is find out where the head of the snake is and that lies with january 21 2008. host: how does that apply to yesterday? caller: my question is, what do you think? host: you are the one that
9:35 am
called us so how does it apply to yesterday? caller: i'm just curious what you think because i think you are against drunk. host: ok. -- trump. host: ok. bobby from republican line in virginia. hi. caller: good morning. host: morning. caller: i'm really upset because they don't do anything to joe biden. he gets by with everything, just like hillary did. in the fbi someone said on tv is a mafia and this is not right. something has got to be done because, right now, our military has been way down. it started with the taliban taking over because of biden not doing the right thing. host: how does this specifically apply to yesterday? caller: yesterday is because of, this has been leading up for years. they lied on trump to start off with.
9:36 am
the durham report, everything they have done, they tried to lie on him starting with hillary , crooked hillary clinton, and then you've got biden that is supposed to be the commander-in-chief, dereliction of duty at the border. host: you're making a lot of statements but specifically to the documents case, how does that apply to that? caller: how does it apply? host: yeah. caller: what i want to know is why they are not doing anything to joe biden. with ukraine. the money he got with joe biden and the biden family with ukraine and china and these other countries too. it is almost like he is not patriotic, not putting american people, he is for his self and his family and the hillary clinton's and all of them can get by with it but it is like anything that trump does good, nobody reports on it. host: let's go to mickey in california, democrats line. caller: thank you for taking my
9:37 am
call. there is a new piece of evidence that came out this morning and i think you have not either seen it or had a chance to read it yet but the transcript has come out with the former president trump speaking to a few people at mar-a-lago regarding mark meadows biography and, on record, mr. trump is saying to the people in his office, here is a people -- piece of paper with general milley wanting to attack iran. this is highly classified. i cannot declassify even if i was president and i cannot declassify now that it is not. host: it was mentioned by me and from our guest too which was mentioned in a previous event but go ahead. caller: yes. none of your callers defending former president trump . the other thing, this is -- what president trump did was against us all.
9:38 am
i many times they subpoenaedim for the records and he failed to provide. so they say what about the dos? what abo documents at biden' home or other places, they cooperated and said it was a mistake. if there is something there that does not belong, you can have it. what does former president trump do? hide them and does not continue to give. the documents that trump had in his position -- possession he could even as president not declassify them. this is wrong what people say. host: ok. you made those points on those points have already been made. cheryl is up next, north carolina, independent line. hi. caller: hi, thank you for taking my call. i want to say a couple things. i really do wish the people out here in this country that are actually literate would read a book. that book is called the art of
9:39 am
war. it is written by a chinese general and it is approximately 25 -- 2500 years old. and it lays out what you do when you want to take over. host: how does that apply to yesterday? caller: well, like i said, how it applies to yesterday is -- well, may i continue with my line of thought? host: go ahead, but i'm as far as reference to the book out applies to yesterday. caller: because this country is being attacked on all sides, economically. our school systems are being attacked, our banking systems are being attacked. we are being attacked economically. people's retirement is being threatened. those politicians in washington with the debt ceiling thing that
9:40 am
they constantly want to scare people in this country to death, so read the book. host: ok, since you made those points, how does it apply to yesterday? caller: because, the law applies to everyone. i don't know where it got to in this country that if you are perceived to have power or perceived to have money that, somehow, you do not ever suffer consequences. the opposite is true. host: let's hear from maggie, republican line, go ahead. caller: thank you. i just wanted to say -- and this is a good point she touched on, the previous caller, who is an independent, when they sit there and they tell you no one is above the law, guess what? neither are you. the republicans are the ones
9:41 am
always trying to go by the rules. because of that they are not making many republicans happy. host: and you say that as a republican? caller: yes. they want to sit there and work with the other side and blah, blah, blah, and they are upset. the democrats don't do that. host: how does that apply to yesterday? caller: yesterday is a very good example because biden and hillary clinton to the same thing but the only thing anybody cares about getting an indictment against is republican donald trump. and they are doing that i believe not just because they have hated him for date -- from day one, and i know they hate him because he was the only president that said this is one going to do and he did it. we were all economically better off. he did so much for this country,
9:42 am
in those four years, and everybody can sit there and say whatever they want but we all know we were better off. host: let me ask a question, are using president trump section -- trump's actions are the same actions from trump and pants, do you think they are treated the same? caller: yep. if you read it, it says no documents, no classified documents, not even one. i don't care if one of them had 106 and the other had one. it applies to all of them. host: ok. we go to brad in columbia, tennessee, hi. caller: good morning, how are you? host: fine, thank you. go ahead. caller: thank you for taking my call. i will make this short, too many people in america seem to be caught on this what if, supposedly one of trump's [indiscernible]
9:43 am
and this is the economy. people seem to have forgotten in 2009 our economy was dead. we were losing the entire automotive industry, we had banks that were failing, we were going into a deep recession, and obama, president obama, took eight years to fix it. host: how does this apply to yesterday? caller: it may not apply to yesterday. trumps damage, most of it has been done by himself. he harmed himself and we put the american people in the line of fire trying to defend him and he knows he is wrong. here's the thing, the challenge is the american people every day lie and they come up with this thing trump has done so much for the american people. no president has had any success
9:44 am
in four years. it usually takes about eight to turn this big ship around. host: thank you for calling. the reports of indictment against president trump from a federal level, he is said to appear in court and that is the topic for the remainder of the time we have read if you want to call in and the last bits of the program, 20 minutes to 15 minutes or so, (202) 748-8001 for republicans, (202) 748-8000 for democrats, independents (202) 748-8002. . if you are interested in events concerning t media, this afternoon, awards will be featured on our network, local journalists honored with the walter cronkite awards, live coverage from california, noon eastern on our may network of c-span, streaming live on the mobile app c-span now. you can always watch it online too bad c-span.org.
9:45 am
colleen in indiana, independent line, hello. caller: hello. my name is colleen, and i just want to say it is absolutely stunning what i'm seeing unfold in front of me. i am almost 60 years old and i have seen, since the gore bush and a lot of those things went on with voting there, i see so many similarities and i see people, hillary clinton, bill clinton, they have all taken classified documents. i just don't understand why this is such a huge deal. i really don't get it. i erstand why, because theyto te out president ump. he was a pre forhe people. he wanted to drain the swamp, but it is stunning and there are
9:46 am
a lo parallels in what is going on in the united states and pakistan. i would encourage your viewers and listeners to educate themselves on what is going on in the rest of the world. host: republican line, jesse, louisiana, you are next up. good morning. caller: how are you doing? host: find thank you. caller: what about hunter biden and joe biden? everything is trump, trump, trump. host: donna, democrats line, connecticut, hello. caller: good morning. thank you for taking my call. a couple quick points, the first is that it seems like the republicans have no understanding. they do not understand the
9:47 am
reason why the president -- former president may be indicted is not because he had these documents but because his deliberate obstructing and lying and hiding these documents. that is the major difference between him and president biden and mike pence who was cleared of any charges. like the first point -- that's the first point. the second point is they are always talking about hunter biden and the biden family but they have never served in any government. they have served under the president and they got a kickback from saudi arabia. host: donna, we will leave it there. just to remind you of the potential charges that could be
9:48 am
