within the conference particularly when it comes to representative johnson. >> a tremendous amount of fatigue and hearing from voters they wanted this mess done with and didn't want another week of terrible headlines and he is appealing to the far right. andy biggs of arizona said he is unfavorably polite. jim jordan failed last week. jim jordan has similar policy but his lack of a national profile had jordan had not going to be an antijohnson campaign. and i think relationship, former chairman of the republican study caucus. mike johnson is well liked.

host: even those even in those relationships and talked about the conservatives in the conference and that is other republicans as well? >> he is not seen as a flame thrower in the way that jim jordan is including appropriators and kay granger opposed. moderates there is not a feeling it will hurt them in the same way supporting jim jordan would have. host: what are the democrats' view of mike johnson? >> you heard is mike johnson the same as jim jordan. they view him as a threat to abortion rights and highlighting his role in objecting to the

2020 election results and donald trump and wants to cut programs to americans. house democrats are coming out expecting to be speaker and portraying him as an extreme republican. host: if he becomes speaker has he sketched out a plan the issues that need to take place like funding the federal government. >> he will support a stop gap funding bill. unclear of how long how long that continuing resolution will last until we expect in 2024. he wants to pass all 12 appropriation bills and key priorities and they want to cut spending and they have a lot of work to do only four appropriation bills passed right now. johnson has pledged to take one

appropriations bill this week. host: has anybody come out specifically against mike johnson at this point? >> the answer is no. and that is crucial for him. every other step of the speaker situation, there was a roll call vote and will you support the house designate. and scalise, jordan and emmer there is a healthy contingent who said no. last night in the conference not one member said i will not support him. three voted present, two of those members, amodei, hill and massie said they will support johnson on the house floor. he isn't facing any opposition. host: we'll watch with you. punchbowl. com. mr. cohen, thanks for your time. the house set to gavel in at

phone again expressing my desire that he should vote against this johnson just as the other johnson, wisconsin senator, representative is the worst in our republican party. and the best thing for him and for other so-called moderate republicans would be to really demonstrate love for country over party and cross over and vote for the really outstanding candidate that we have in the house and that would be hakeem jeffries. host: it was after the vote came in and mike johnson winning the support of his republican colleagues talked about the nomination and what he hoped to do with it. >> i am honored to have the support of my colleagues and this is leadership.

time. the reason i wanted to call in is caution all listeners, democrats, republican, independents, people who don't always listen to c-span pay attention what they are being told even by the leaders in office that you think you respect or think putting country over party. mike johnson he voted against the certification of joe biden. he comes a little less aggressive than jim jordan. jim jordan is in your face. he has a history. but mike johnson is under the radar but has hit my news wire. i have heard reports of him being slightly more clever than others trying to figure out a different way to dessert file the election. host: let's hear from john in illinois. time is short, john, jump in.
