black pols, there's a distinction they need to have. and these black poles of black people that descendants of slaves versus those that are coming from other islands and getting the black experience. there's a difference. and as that portion of the population is tend to go republican because they don't understand the history that black americans have. so that was my point. and thank you very much. great program. all right, let's hear from stephanie in pen valley, california, on our independent line. go ahead, stephanie. hey there. i was listening this morning. i noticed that a lot of people on the democrat and independent lines have a lot to say about trump voters and trump himself. but my suggestion is, is that if you had a better candidate to put forth, then you should probably talk about them instead of constantly talking about trump. if you have a better independent or democratic candidate to put
12:08 pm
forth, then you know, you should talk about them. thank you. we will be hearing from another democratic presidential candidate shortly. we'll be hearing from frank yeager, who will be joining us on the show in just a bit. next up, we have danielle in berkeley springs, west virginia, on the republican line. good morning, danielle. good morning. thanks for taking my call. yes, i'm just a white man. you know, i'm torn. 30 or 42 years old. and my opinion is that if everybody would sit back and look at everything that brian does and just went with their heart about what this country falling apart, you know what people can't afford nothing. you know, americans can't afford nothing. it's all worried about everybody else. you know, the foreigners, the immigrants, everybody. you know, what about, you know, our people? about the people that, you know, support everybody that doesn't work. you know, thank you.
12:09 pm
next up, we have karen in cincinnati, ohio, on our democratic line. hi. good morning. how are you? fine, thank you. yes. and i wanted to talk about the political democrats and republicans. it seems like it just seems so thin on extreme with republicans and extremists on the republican attack and extremists on democrat side. and then the true patriots are the ones stuck in the middle and then they need to take to torture out of this system because, you know, it seemed like they built a more a system that tortures that american people instead of having empathy or sympathy or having compassion
12:10 pm
for american people. you know, when you start wearing bikinis, not there have any of these type of human emotion. do you think you're going to get people like jeffrey dahmer, serial killer, unhealthy people in our country? they're doing anything and have a stone strength, have no feelings for anybody or anything. so we need to take the politics of torture of the american people out of this system. okay. all right. so thank you very much for your calls on open forum. next up and after the break, we're going to hear from founder and host of the progressive young turks tv show jan kugler, who is going to discuss why he is running against joe biden for the democratic nomination for president. we will be right back.

12:14 pm
egomaniac. he's 81 years old, 77% of americans don't think that he can even finish a second term healthy. that's a stunning numbers. let that sink in. over three quarters of americans aren't sure he can even finish a second term. he's polling disastrously. he's 15 points behind. from when he barely beat donald trump, he's losing almost every swing state. he's losing independents by ten points, losing, losing, losing. he's at 37% approval rating. there's no chance an incumbent with a 37% approval rating wins the election. so i'm in it to knock joe biden out so we can get a real democrat candidate and a strong democratic candidate. not a guy who mumbles and can't finish his sentences and and is in it only for himself. i mean, what a giant ego this guy has. just because you want to be a two term president, you're willing to endanger the democratic party, the voters, america, democracy, he's putting it all on the line just for his
12:15 pm
own narcissism. so that's why i'm in the race, jake, for america. i want to pull up a quote that you made to the health.com when you announced your run. repeating what you just said. biden is not going to win. you said during the announcement it should not have been me. it should have been somebody else. but unfortunately, it was not anybody else. there's only four months left. we must change course. he has at least a 10% chance of winning. i'm running as a proxy. i'm running to win. but i am also running as a proxy for any other candidate. that last bit in particular from your announcement when you said you're running to win, but also running as a proxy, what do you mean by that? yeah, so initially the thought was, hey, if someone like me can get up to 20, 25 points, people will say, wow, i mean, this guy who's just a talk show host and has this naturalized citizen issue that will get to later, he's up to 20, 25. my god. obviously, governor pritzker newsom, whitmer, shapiro, etc.
12:16 pm
they would easily be joe biden. joe biden is such a weak candidate. the problem is that those democratic officials are not profiles in courage. you have to, like, go here. here's like an 85% chance you're going to win. and then the other like, oh, wow, okay, now i'll get it. so since they're basically haven't shown any courage at all by the way, if any one of them entered the race, they would easily beat joe biden, easily. it's their lack of courage is stunning. okay. but since they haven't come in yet because apparently democratic parties authoritarian one now and the boss man told them, sit down. so they all sat down like good boys and girls. now my job has switched to just knock biden out. those governors will all come in the minute biden steps down. and so i'm going to just keep telling people things that are super obvious that politicians don't say because they're politicians and they get their bread buttered by joe biden and nancy pelosi. and these folks there are too
12:17 pm
old the whole country knows they're too old, let alone the fact that he didn't do enough, let alone the fact that whether it's the right or wrong guys, even if you love joe biden, you know, you watch msnbc and you think he's god's gift to humanity or something. it doesn't matter because he's going to lose. so i'm the messenger. i'm, you know, if you will, a paul revere of sorts. biden's going to lose biden's. in fact, i bought biden is going to lose dot com. it redirects to my campaign site because it's so obvious the junk you said you would be a proxy for any other candidate. and representative dean phillips is another candidate also doing a primary challenge against biden? why not him? look, there's nothing wrong with dean phillips and i'm glad that he entered the race. i want more people to enter the race. i'm the only person who not only wants more candidates, he has himself, but and but is also supportive of the other candidates. marianne williamson has been in the race this whole time, showed great courage and, by the way, is leading both me and dean by a
12:18 pm
lot. so i don't know why she's not all over television. i mean, which are the candidates? is this about other people? so i'm thrilled that dean came into the race. but what i'm like, number one, marianne stripling, is the numbers. so it's not like he's taken off yet. and if, you know, there's a fair argument to say, hey, look, why don't you all coalesce around her as opposed to dean phillips? but that leads to my last part. it isn't about dean. and he's not only showing courage by entering the race, but he's also really good on money in politics. but when people say, like, oh, are now a real politician has entered the race. well, so why don't you all go sit down? the real politicians are the one that got us in trouble in the first place. the only reason why i give a -- about the governor's entering the race now is because i understand the american politics. and i understand that those guys would have instantly recognition, instant credibility, and most importantly, the press would hear them out and publicize what they're saying. right. so that's why they would have a good chance of winning in a small, narrow of time in 2028. i'll see those guys on another
12:19 pm
day. in another context. and that's when progressives will win. but for now, we need anyone that could beat donald trump. and it isn't joe biden because it's not like i have any animus towards joe biden. i, i think he's i have the animus because he's an egomaniac. i won't let go. but it's not about him. it's about donald trump. we cannot lose to trump. and apparently every one in d.c. who's a democrat, a democratic politician, is a liar because they all say democracy is on the line, is the one important the lesson of our lifetime. that's why we're running a guy at 37%. that's why we're running a guy who's losing almost every swing state and losing to a guy like donald trump, one of the most unpopular politicians of our lifetimes. look, if you're for joe biden, don't pretend this is the most important election of our lifetime, because you're saying i don't mind losing as long as i satiate the ego of the dear leader. how is your campaign being financed and what is your staff
12:20 pm
and infrastructure look like at this point? yeah, it's being financed by the people and so there's no fancy folks who are going to come in and whispered in my ear, oh, you know, you should really keep drug prices really high. here's $1,000,000 check to do it. and by the way, guys, let's be honest, here we are. this a rare chance where you could hear an honest person on television, the campaign contribution is from corporations are bribes. we all know they're bribes. does that mean you won't take them? oh, of course not. corporate pac money. there's no way in the world i would take that. everybody takes corporate pac money, says, yeah, i like corporate rule. i like the status quo. i hate the american people. i'm going to take what these corporations give me and i'm going to use it to screw over the american people. i mean, let's be honest, guys. why is pfizer giving money to republicans or democrats? why is exxonmobil giving money to a politician like good rich petroleum funneled about $9 million to the joe biden's campaign? do you think it's because they care about the general welfare?
12:21 pm
b, they care about making sure we have the right policies in america because they're deeply moved or c, they're interested in good rich petroleum and its profits? no, they buy these politicians, they buy them and they go, hey, boy, go do what i told you. i mean, look, here's the cinema and joe manchin after they voted against higher wages in theatrical style in the case of cinema, went to the national restaurant association and collected checks. they're bought criminals. they just go and do whatever their donors tell them. so it's the most obvious thing in the world. rub it in your face. they're like, hey, these are the guys who didn't want higher wages. they weren't collecting a check from them. but it's a campaign contribution. you know, it's not it's a bribe. so, no, i don't take any bribes. i'm financed by the people. it's it's enough financed jig for america to chip in. a dollar is a protest. against biden and trump and so in terms of myself fantastic i
12:22 pm
need good lawyers. i have good lawyers. brad deutsch, it was bernie sanders presidential lawyer in 2016 and 2020. he's my lawyer. it's a fantastic team. campaign managers, carter eastman. she's a former justice democratic candidate in nebraska that almost won in the middle of nebraska. she's fantastic, great digital fundraising team, field operations, you name it, we got it. we want to take your calls in just a bit for jake and our numbers are the same for democrats. 202748 8000 republicans. 202748 8001 and independents 202748 8002. now, jake, i'm going to show something on the screen that i know is no surprise to you, which are the constitutional requirements for presidential candidates. you mentioned you had good lawyers, but one of those is that you'd be a natural born citizen of the united states, which you are not. so how is it that you believe you can run for president? yeah. so i can show you a clause in the constitution that says black
12:23 pm
people are 3/5 of a person and then go, it's in the constitution, it's in the constitution. yeah. there's a thing called amendments and they amend the constitution and the 14th amendment could not have been any clearer. it says all persons born or naturalized have due process and equal protection. what part of naturalized then? equal, don't people understand? so there's a supreme court case, snyder v russ, where they say that naturalized citizens cannot be treated as second class citizens. and so this is an important issue because i know it seems like a small thing. i'm not unaware of it. right. and but it's it's small to people who are not naturalized citizens. they think, what's the big deal? you can't run for president. it's tiny, right? no, first of all, it's not true. so that is deeply bothersome to begin with. but what we here as naturalized citizens is you guys aren't really american. we're playing along with you guys. but you're second class. you're dirt. you can't lead us because we don't really trust you.
12:24 pm
you might hand this over to the hapsburg dynasty. so all of you naturalized citizens that bled and died for this country, we don't really value you. you're just second class. so how hard is an original, discriminatory part of the constitution? yeah, there's a lot of discriminatory parts of the constitution that got amended out, but and specifically by the 14th amendment. and so we're going to take that to court and we're going to win. so if you're a voter out there, you don't have to worry about that because the courts are going to take care of that. well, you have to worry about is who's the best candidate, who's the one who's honest, who's the one who actually wants to deliver for you? and who's got the best policies. that's what you should judge it on. so a lot of times the press is like, oh, well, no, i don't know about the court case. and marianne, i don't know, she prayed in a way that we don't like and boo on her spirituality. i mean, all this nonsense, who is the best policies and who's going to fight for you? so joe biden, for example, has a perfectly good policy public option, right? everybody is in favor of it. it's middle of the road, 70% of americans want it.
12:25 pm
did he fight for you? no. he never even proposed it because he didn't mean it. the minute a democratic leader gets elected in this country, all of the progressive groups, the democratic groups, left leaning groups, all huddled together and figure out how are we going to pressure the democratic president to do democratic things and every democratic voter out there knows it, too, because they'll talk about it in the press without actually saying the words like, well, well, how can the democrats pressure joe biden into passing paid family? why do we have to pressure our own leader? well, we will never ask that question. hey, why doesn't he actually want to do it? why do we throw a higher minimum wage under the bus? why don't we throw paid family leave on the bus, paid family leave pulls at 84%. what's wrong with you, joe biden? are you the worst politician in america? why can't you get something passed that's an 84% here. i'll tell the truth to the american people. it's because he doesn't want it to pass. he's donors think that it's going to raise costs for them. so even though it is intensely popular, not just with
12:26 pm
democratic voters, but with the republican voters and with independents and it would pass easily. no one in congress will propose it. no democrat will. no republican will. joe biden doesn't propose it because he doesn't care. all they do is the bidding of their donors. one more point on this citizenship thing before we go to callers. you've been struck from the ballot in new hampshire, as well as nevada. i'm looking here at new hampshire public radio. the state ballot law commission upholds barring jenks either from the new. hampshire primary ballot. they have your declaration of candidacy where you edited things of it to reflect the legal challenge that you're making. also in nevada that you won't be on the primary ballot there again after altering the form. what does that mean for your actual ability to make it through the primary process? yeah. so most of the states don't have that erroneous forms, and so it won't be an issue in the majority of the states for the states that are completely and
12:27 pm
utterly comically wrong about the constitution, it's okay. that's what the court systems for. so don't worry about, oh, jason, on the nevada ballot. i'm not on the nevada ballot today, but that's why we're going to court. and so, again, let the courts handle that. and if they say, oh, we like the injustice, we'd like to spit in the face of naturalized citizens, 25 million of you go die for america. go die for america. but you're second class. do you have any court processes yet? how is that legal case progressing? we're picking we're picking the states that we want to sue. and as we stand now and by the way, guys, if you put on a form in order to run for president, if you're black, you sign here that you're 3/5 of a person. i read it in the constitution. well, you're not going to sign that. that's outrageous. i'm not going to sign on to my own discrimination. right. so they put on a nonsense form and say, admit you're a second class citizen. i'm not going to sign it. i'm going to change the form to make it correct. and then the courts decide, hey, is jake right or is new hampshire right? should new hampshire discriminate against all its 50,000 people, naturalized
12:28 pm
citizens in new hampshire and in the new hampshire state legislature and the ballot law commission? i'm sorry, but they spit in their face and they said, ha ha. and they said to me, the commission said, if you know, if you had lied on the form, we would have let you on and or and by the way, part of the form is wrong. they quoted the wrong part of the constitution. they said we would let everyone else cross it out, but we won't let you cross it out. well, okay. that makes no sense at all. that's why you go to the courts to seek justice. and we will seek justice. we will get justice. but again, for the voters, that's irrelevant. let the courts decide that you pick the best candidate. we've got lots of calls coming in for you. so let's get to these as quickly as we can. let's start with stephanie in montclair, new jersey, on our democratic line. go ahead, stephanie. and can you turn down the volume on your tv, please? we need to voters. okay. we get it. yes, go ahead. but we can still hear your tv. but let's see if we can hear you anyway.
12:29 pm
and my on my right while you're working on that, let's go ahead and go to lori, who is in vancouver, washington, on our republican line. oh, thank you. the speaker, prior to your to you being on was talking about how he wished that the candidates would be representing the country and not not just so narrow minded is what i basically was saying. and i thought about that and i thought, you know, i don't see them speaking about some issues that are so crucial right now. and one of them being in my mind that the wave towards socialism, that the hate crimes, the aim just hatred overall. and i think at all of that combine can just be a perfect storm. there was a wonderful educational feature on an article. it's dot org. why the pilgrims abandoned
12:30 pm
common ownership for private property. and it talks about how william bradford saw that after a year or two they were just dying on the vine. they would have just failed. and he realized it's because they all were commonly during everything and sharing everything. and yes, that sounds all wonderful and everything, but they were actually finding there was laziness and greed. and he began to separate all ownership is strange, but think you have a question for. yes, i would love to know. does he see well, whether there's a trend in either party or in even any new parties where there's education and there's campaign and even just the policies that are being established to legislate and that's going forth to change that trend? do they care? that's my question. do the democrats care? do the republicans here go ahead and let genk respond?
12:31 pm
go ahead. yeah, so there's actually two different parts of the statement slash question. so on socialism, there's so much fear mongering. i'm not a socialist. i call myself a democratic capitalist. but when we say socialism, what are we talking about? are we talking about north korea or are we talking about finland? because, you know, north korea is actually communist. it's not socialist. but even if you say venezuela and venezuela. socialist. okay. but that's a very different system than the socialism in northern europe. so i think when people are to the left of me in the democratic party talk about socialism, they're talking about denmark, they're talking about norway, they're talking about socialist countries that have a mixed market very similar to ours and that are very, very successful. now. but to her main point about what do any of the politicians care about you, the answer is no. and there's a real reason why both democrats and republicans, the overwhelming majority of them, take corporate money so they're paid to not care about you. they're paid to serve their
12:32 pm
donors, and they're very good servants. they will do exactly as the checks tell them to do. that's why they never, ever fight for you. that's i mean, an earlier caller before i was on formed it described what the american people are going through as a form of torture. and it is because they come out and tell you, oh, we're on your side. you know, if you vote for us, don't worry. the democrats are right or republicans are right. and we're going to get these bills passed and then they never get the bills passed, whichever side you're on. you know why? because they're not working for you. they're working for their donors. and the whole thing is theater. it's all a mirage. that's why you feel like you're getting screwed every time because you are. you're totally correct on that. and by the way, they split us apart and they make us fight over right wing, left wing cultural issues. and i get it. we disagree on those cultural issues. and that's okay. that's a democracy. okay. but they use it to create wedges between us so we don't unite on issues. we actually agree on and that we can actually make a difference on, for example, we all want higher wages.
12:33 pm
how do i know that? it's not just me saying it. every time a higher minimum wage is proposed in even the deepest red state, it passes easily. democrats and republicans vote in favor of it because they want higher wages. but when the politicians come in, they go no higher wages, no way. right? like joe biden, he's a liar. he said he wanted $15 minimum wage. he came in, he threw it under the bus in the very first interview, said we're not doing it. then he had his two best allies, the two delaware senators vote against it and eight democratic senators voted yes. so why? because they're liars. if you hear these other callers, we have a lot of people waiting to talk to you. so let's next go to anna in montebello, california, and our independent line. hello. hello. yes, go ahead, anna. oh, hello, misty, are you there? um, am. thank you for running. um, i, um. i call this now. i'm 60 years old, and i now call this the united corporations of
12:34 pm
america. so thank you for addressing the corporate influence in our country. my biggest issue is with how my daughter, um, who will be close to 40, makes, um, very good amount of money, which she cannot afford to purchase her own home. um, in a way, we have an outrageous homeless situation. the corporate machines are purchasing up many, many homes, and they're sitting empty because of greed. people are out on the streets literally because of greed. um, the democrats have had their proxies on this very channel. i've called in many times. they never address the question directly. they'll say, oh, well, you know, we just need to build more homes that are i, i wish you would
12:35 pm
please address this issue in relation to the corporation. all right, let's let him go. yeah. yeah. so that is a brilliant point. that is absolutely right. and i don't want to tell the american people something. all the media and all the politicians are gaslight ing you. what you're seeing and feeling is correct. and then they come in and tell you it's not correct. you shouldn't feel that way. like joe biden, when he's only younger voters and he hears about their struggles, he's like, get out of here, jack. that's a bunch of malarkey. we had a tougher no, you didn't. that's not true at all. the facts don't back that up. so, for example, on the issue that she's talking about, private equity companies, the largest finance companies in the history of the world, are going up buying residential real estate as speak. and these are things that you could easily look up. they acknowledge you. they brag about it. they like and why do they brag about it? they say, well, realize that the average american, their biggest asset, was their home. that is where you would build
12:36 pm
up. and the bankers thought, wait, why are we letting them build that wealth? we should buy the homes we should build the wealth, and then we'll charge rent, and then we'll we'll monopolize a lot of the markets and that we will drive up the rent that way. they're giving us more. what would you do in the housing crisis? okay, so first of all, when i would acknowledge that those private equity companies are doing that and i would look at it and go, we should we allow these corporations to compete against average americans in the home market and maybe the answer is yes, with limitations and guardrails. and maybe the answer is no. why don't you. -- out and let average americans be able to buy houses at affordable prices like we used to be able to before our corporate rule? but the politicians never acknowledge it. you want to know why? because they're almost all financed by private equity companies. so by the bankers limit limit the of corporations to own private homes. so that's why i say it's it's an
12:37 pm
interesting issue and we have to look into it more because if you said, hey, limit corporations ability to own property, that's crazy. of course they need to own property. that's part and parcel of capitalism. and, you know, being able to buy a factory, etc. but if you say, hey, there certain areas that are zoned as residential and private equity companies, big bankers can't come in and buy in the residential zones. well, that's worth considering. now, the reason no politician considers that is because they're all bought. look, i'm not seeing it in some sort of like rhetorical flourish. it's literal. why don't they ever cover the campaign contributions? you know how much money private equity gives the democratic party and the republican party? again? do you think they're doing that for their health or because they want to bribe those politicians? let's hear from marty in shreveport, louisiana, on our democratic line. good morning. good morning. my head is swimming. sir, you are running for president and this is my first time ever seeing you.
12:38 pm
if you were president, what would you do? i have three questions to ask you, and i just need to ask those questions. but, john, our little civil rights bill. the stacking or the way the judicial supreme court is working and the amount of aid that we're giving overseas and what seeing we're trying to draw back on people here in the united states as far as the food stamps. but we're trying get more money overseas. how would you address that issue? food. i actually wrote down those three items so that jenkin address them. number one by one. so first of all, the john lewis civil rights bill, what you would do in terms of enforcement or progress on that, whether or not you might consider adding working to add seats to the supreme court. and also the issue of foreign
12:39 pm
aid? yeah. so, first of all, john lewis. bill, i would i want to pass i want to fight for it. i want to implement it. that's the problem with democratic leadership. they tell you they're for voting rights and then what they do, they throw it under the bus. they gave you nothing on it and they said, oh, filibuster. i couldn't do it because of the filibuster. you know, that they lifted the debt ceiling in the first two years and they lifted the filibuster to it to pass that. oh, so when the stock market's on the line, all of a sudden they could play with the filibuster all day long and it's just optional. but when they had a chance to give you voting rights, they didn't do it because all filibuster. so stop the lies from democratic politicians pretending to be on your side. i would actually fight for you and i would win on those issues on the supreme court. i don't believe in stacking it. so we've got nine justices. if we add three, they're going to add five. then we're going to add seven. and it's so that's not the right way to do it. but, yes, democrats have to win the presidency so that they can nominate supreme court justices. and by the way, why don't we you
12:40 pm
know, they stole one from us during obama, where everybody knows that. right. and so why did they steal one from us? because the democrats will fight. obama had a whole year till he said, oh, don't worry about hillary clinton's going to win anyway. oops. no fight for us democrats want someone who will actually fight for you. so they're just sitting there and taking the campaign cash. okay. and then the last one is foreign aid. look, guys, i believe in helping other countries. i'm a progressive and i believe in expanding the circle of liberty. but i believe in constantly giving nonstop money for war. so, for example, israel wants we're giving israel another $14 billion to do what? so look what on october 7th was horrific and and my heart cries out when you hear those stories. if you're not enraged by what happened and impassioned for the israeli citizens, there's something wrong with you right now. having said that. now there's ten times as many dead civilians on the palestinian side. so does your heart bleed for them? now we're going to send $14
12:41 pm
billion to drop more bombs on their heads. no, i don't want it. why is my tax dollars not going to our kids? not going to education, not going to higher wage, not going to any of the priorities we care about, but going to kill more palestinian children? no. hell, no. i'd send $0 not only in this case for extra bombing and extra death, but for the israeli subsidies that we're giving. why? israel's a it was one of the top economies in the world. they use it to further the occupation. they don't listen to anything we say. so why are we giving them money? no, i bring it down to zero until they end the occupation. i got i got nothing but love for israel. as long as they end the occupation. and then we can go back to making any decision we like about subsidies, etc., and make it be rational. but as long as they continue to depress 5 million palestinians, i will not give them a single dollar. and it's crazy to send our money to drop bombs on poor palestinian children.
12:42 pm
okay. in terms of ukraine, well, see, that's a slightly different situation because russia invaded them and we gave them an assurance when they gave away their nukes that we would defend them. so america made a promise there. now, at the same time, guys, where does the money go first? it goes the defense contractors and they rob and rob and rob and whatever is left over, they hand over to ukraine. so i would audit the hell out of the fed. they can never i'm sorry, both the fed and the pentagon but in this case, the pentagon and they say every year they failed to audit and go, well, i don't know where half the money is. you don't know where $400 billion is. they give me the money back. give me the money back. i'm not going to give you the money and then go, oh, oops, honey, i lost $400 billion. oh, did it go into defense contractor hands? oh, they also grease all the politicians. yes, they do. so i would actually be an advocate for the american people and not for the -- donors. let's keep the language a little bit cleaner here. let's hear from lydia in lynbrook, new york, on our
12:43 pm
republican line. hi. good morning. this guy is a joke. last election, i voted for trump. i'm a republican. never again. i will never vote for that criminal. next elections are going to be about saving our democracy. therefore, i'm with joe biden. thank you. this is an argument that comes up a lot for third party candidates or even people running in the democratic primary. that it serves to distract or harm joe biden. oh, it has a dear leader been harmed? we should all do propaganda to prop him up when he's at 37%. look, i like this. she's open minded. i like this. she switched from trump. so thank you. thank you for having an open mind. no matter what you say about me now. but i have to distinguish between two things because the media keeps trying to trick you into thinking it's the same thing. a third party run is in a general and in a general election costing the democrat a couple of points when the other
12:44 pm
guy's a fascist is a real problem. but a primary is not in a general election. a primary helps to pick a stronger democratic candidate. if you say no, whichever the demigods are in washington, who i'm sure have our best interests in mind, if they annoying to leader, then it must be that leader and you must never compete against them. we don't want stronger candidates. we just want the most corrupt guy that the powerful people told us to kiss us. but actually, i do want to follow up with you about sort of the primary process. do you think that you're going to get an opportunity to meaningfully engage in debates or any kind of involvement at, you know, even the convention with the democratic party? so, look, the democratic party is is supposed to be the people's party, the worker, the laborers, workers average guy. the republicans are for the rich. right. but these days, the campaign contributions of ruined everything. so the democratic party has
12:45 pm
become authoritarian. so they always support the incumbent. they always support the most conservative democrat crab, the most corrupt democrat. that's why they hated bernie sanders. so, like, he's honest. boo boo. get of the corrupt guy instead. so, yes, i have to deal with the dnc, but that's hey, that's politics, baby. so we're in the primary. it's my job to do the best i can in the circumstances that i find myself in. so it is what it is. so is joe biden going to come and debate us? of course not. i mean, do you think joe biden could survive a debate with me? there's no way. everybody knows you got to hide him in a basement. if he's out in a debate, he's going to get embarrassed. but if you think he's going to get embarrassed in a primary, why are you running him in the general election where he's going to run up against trump? look, this is really important in there's a mythology that primaries hurt the candidate. not remotely true in 2016. the republicans are the most vicious, aggressive, strong primary any of us have ever
12:46 pm
seen. and they won in 2020. there was 27 democrats in a contested primary, the type of primary that the media tells you don't do it. oh my god, it'll hurt the dear leader. don't do a primary. they did 27 people. it was a really strong primary and they won strong primary easily to strong candidates lead to victories. so we should have as big a primary as possible and invite others to run against me. biden everyone else. and if you want the if you want to beat trump, you don't go in there with a guy who. 37%. look here, i'll give you. all right. well, let's get some more callers here. raymond is in colorado on the independent line. good morning, mr. james. i voted for donald trump and i am 110% in agreement with you. so i have a suggestion. instead of i mean, still run for. but why not talk to dwayne the rock and sit down and talk to him and see if he would run for
12:47 pm
the democratic party? i would think dwayne is an entertainer. he has appealing to the young generation. he would be an overwhelming favorite and select general milley as his vice president. and what i would suggest to you would to, you know, be in the cabinet like the attorney general, i think you would be the perfect person with strength, with truth and integrity and one thing i would like to suggest to c-span, have a website, a dictionary there, and read what is the definition by webster? what does truth me and what does integrity mean according to webster? i think donald trump is an evil person. i still think you would do a great job. thank you. what do you think of raymond's idea, jake? yeah, he he's not wrong again. the people are way smarter than than conventional wisdom in washington. so, look, it.
12:48 pm
he's basically saying a celebrity who isn't a politician. and the reason people are clamoring for that is because we know the politicians have led us to corporate rule and the status quo. everybody's dissatisfied with it. it's a form of torture. and so we want non-politicians now, in my case i already tried that now with dwayne the rock johnson, but with john. so first i try to get progressives to run against joe biden, progressive leaders that didn't work. then i try to get the democratic governors to join the race because we got to be trump and biden is not going to do it. no incumbent under 50 points wins an incumbent under 40 points has never won. and so they're lying to you. there's he has almost no chance of winning. so that's why i tried so hard. and when i couldn't get the democratic governors that i tried for jon stewart because he is entertaining in that matters a lot in modern day politics. he has tremendous name recognition and he's a decent human being who, by the way, from outside congress, got congress to help veterans into first responders and has
12:49 pm
actually gotten things done. hey, john stewart, he doesn't realize it, but he would win this primary fairly easily. he could definitely beat joe biden. so i'm saying it now on tv. john, come into the race. you would actually win. don't listen to your advisers or whoever is telling you that you can't win. donald trump, you know what he started out when he first started in 2015. he started out 1%, 1%. and rose up. and part of the reason that he rose up is because he was a celebrity and he was not a politician. so the caller's exactly right. i think the best guy for it is jon stewart. but i'll take anyone at this point, because joe biden's definitely going to lose from our text messages. tom from erie, pennsylvania, asks, what is jenks policy position on what's happening on our southern border? yeah, so people who watch our show, the young turks were surprised when on the first day of greg abbott bussing people to the democratic cities. i said, yeah, it makes sense. and people are like, wait, we're way we're supposed to hate the republicans and why do you think
12:50 pm
that it makes sense for him to bus these people? because the border states have to deal with all of that wave of people and we don't fund them properly and we don't give them enough help. and then go, ha ha, it's your problem. and once they started bussing people to democratic, all of a sudden it became our problem. and that's the way we should be. so if we're going to pass laws, we should all field them both. the advantages and disadvantages of it. now, i'm in favor of immigration, so i would send an army of judges there to to go through the asylum folks as quickly as possible, because we want to be a beacon of light. we want to be the shining city on a hill. so the people that come over incredibly hopeful, they fall through an incredible journey, get here to help their families. i think the great majority of them are are good people. don't listen to demagogues like trump telling you that they're evil and they're criminals. and that kind of demagogue talking nonsense. but we have to have a process
12:51 pm
for how to do this right. and we have to follow our laws. so, yes, i would try to secure the border as much as humanly possible, but i would do it the right way, the humane way. and we shall have to have a system that is rational, that allows a certain amount of immigrants and creates a process for them. and and and it takes the dreamers and makes them citizens. and be decent but logical and rational instead of the extremes that we swing from now. okay. next up is justin in quinlan, texas, on our democratic line. hello. yes, go. ahead, justin. yes. so one thing that i wanted to bring up so this gentleman is running for presidency and they are here to uphold our constitution. and i heard this man single handedly say earlier pretty much that our constitution has absolutely nothing because he wants to go round it with him,
12:52 pm
him not being a legal u.s. citizen. and that is i'm really bothering me because i feel like that's a big problem with the democratic party as they like to find loopholes with all of major situations. the constitution completely went to -- these days. to put it the most logical way, i guess i could say, i just think it's kind of a joke how i mean, the u.s. politician isn't upheld these days and the fact that he would turn over to the it states in there that the blacks are three 3/5 person or whatever his is term was. i think it's kind of ridiculous on how we don't uphold the u.s. constitution. so before you respond to that, jane, i want to pull up the what you were referencing earlier where when we have this discussion and the 14th amendment in section one, i'm looking here at the constitution center. it says all persons born or naturalized in the united states and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the united states and of the state
12:53 pm
wherein they reside. no state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge privileges or immunities of citizens of the united states, nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty or property without due process of law, nor denied to any person within its jurisdiction. the equal protection of the laws. and now, if you'd like to respond to justin. yeah. on. fortunately, he accidentally made my point for me. he said he's not even a citizen. and that's how naturalized citizens are treated in america. like we're not even american citizens and people knuckleheads him don't get it. they think like, oh, you guys are foreigners. you guys aren't real citizens. and that's exactly what i'm trying address. no, we are american citizens. and as she just read in the 14th amendment, we are due equal protection, not equal with an asterisks equal. but i. you should read my mind. not really equal, not of these naturalized citizens. even though we said naturalized in the amendment. and so this knucklehead comes in
12:54 pm
here. oh, you should respect. are you kidding me? i love the us constitution. one of the things that's great about the constitution is that it allows for amendments because the founding fathers said, look, we're not going to get it all right here. you're going to need to amend this document. it needs to be a living document so that it adjusts to the times. otherwise it'll be archaic and out of step. and right now that is mumbling into the tv. no way, man. you change the constitution. what? i think i was wondering. hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. i need him to understand. what do you think this. second amendment is? alright it amends the constitution? what do you think the first amendment is? oh, right. it amends the constitution, and then becomes part of the constitu. and it makes the constitution better. that's why we love the document that you do plan to bring these legal challenges. but given the way that the courts are and this is something that could potentially rise up to the ranks, what do you think is the likelihood that the courts will take your side? so first of all, we there is no
12:55 pm
way of knowing because on the one hand, they have said in in schneider v rusk that naturalized citizens are not to be treated as second class citizens and that it is unconstitutional to treat us in any way that is less than equal. right. but it was not in a presidential case. so i'm being honest with you guys and the presidential case, i don't know which is which way the conservative supreme court's going to go, but i know that we're not going to find out unless we take it to the supreme court. and by the way, if the supreme court says right or wrong, fair or unfair, hey, you're not allowed to run. okay, then it is what it is. i'm not donald trump. i'm not going to say, oh, i lost 60 court cases, but who cares? let's suspend the constitution. that's what trump said. no, i'm not in favor of that. at all. i'll let the courts decide and i'll live with that decision. randy is in kentucky on our republican line. good morning. wow. i haven't got my head spinning. but if you look at one thing there, another thing about the
12:56 pm
constitution. 3/5 compromise. i don't hear this from democrats so often that blacks and the indians were 3/5 of a person at the time. people you people just look at earth and read that section to people. so they'll be informed and not and not distorted or told false truths. i don't know how naturally to put it, but what he's saying is there were 3/5 trump. yes, there's that base of indian or a slave or black person. two thirds of human. this is i heard that all my life. another thing is while blackrock and all these large corporations are buying up these homes, just going out on the street just a little bit, sir, if you would, and times couples out there somewhere that's working, maybe not in your neck of the woods or you're said to vision, but maybe some lower income subdivision of temples who are hoping to buy a home. and now with this such great inflation that, we've had to ask
12:57 pm
them. so they'll tell you very plainly that they can't afford it now, which they were looking before all this inflation started with these gas is short you have to act. so let's go ahead and let jane respond. i am looking up the text of the 3/5 clause at the moment. no, you don't have to. it's easy. look, i know what he's saying. they were candidates three. first, for the purpose of the how much how many representatives, the states would get. but, brother, you're missing the main point of that. it's that they were counted as not human beings at all in the u.s. constitution originally. and the original document, it wasn't that they were 3/5 of a person. they were counted as 3/5 for the purpose of getting more representation to the slave states. it's an extra irony, cruel irony of the original, because in reality, slaves couldn't vote slaves couldn't have any rights at all. they treated as private. their kids would be snatched
12:58 pm
away from them and sold as property. so, brother, you don't think you think you're cute by saying how they weren't treated as 3/5 people? yeah, they were treated as nothing. and that had to be amended. you know what amended it? the 14th amendment, the greatest amendment of all time. and so thank you to the people who fought the civil war, win that battle to pass the 13th, 14th and 15th amendment. so black people in this country could be treated as human. that's why we love the 14th amendment. that's why we love equal protection and due process. all right. i think here we are. yes, here we are. this is from census dot gov. representatives and direct taxes shall be apportioned among the several states which may be included within this union according to their respective numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole number of free persons, including those bound to service for a term of years, exclude and excluding indians, not taxed 3/5 of all other persons.
12:59 pm
that's the specific language. all right. next up, john and vicksburg, michigan on the independent line. hey, jacob, a big fan of you and the young turks and, um, i want you already hit on this earlier about what the dnc did to bernie sanders and, uh, that's, you know, my point is that the if any candidate come in and joe biden and challenge joe biden, they have to beat the dnc and that to me is the problem. now, i believe that 90% of both parties are corrupt to the bone. so. anyway, that's my comment. i appreciate you and good luck. any response to john there, jake? yeah. so we know for a fact that the dnc is going around calling the state parties, saying keep them off the ballot. so that's now the democratic party in actively in favor of discrimination. i mean, it's sick what they've done to the party of fdr, what they've done to the party of lbj
1:00 pm
passing the civil rights act, voting rights. etc. but look, guys, number one, i say get caught trying. okay, try, try and try again to actually help the american people and pass these bills. i believe in hope and in. secondly, we got to deal with the situation we have, not the one we wish we had. okay. so i know that the dnc is always going to try to rig the election in favor of corporate corrupt democrats and incumbent, say, joe biden and hillary clinton wasn't even an incumbent and they still try to rig it by playing around with the rules, telling the state parties, what to do, etc. but i knew that i'm a big boy. i knew they were going to try to cheat like that. so, guys, let's go to jake for america dot com and let's beat them let's beat them. so what okay yeah the establishment is always going to fight back. they're always going to have entrenched power, but power never concedes without a demand and never has, never will. okay, so let's get in a couple more calls before we run out of time here. next up, jonah in greenbelt,
1:01 pm
maryland, on the democratic line. hi, mr. yeager. my question is, what do you think are the effects when a candidate uses ridicule? that's interesting. yeah. yeah. i think the effect is powerful and it works. so i know that a lot of people, especially on the democratic side that grew up on npr, will hate that. and they're like, no, we have to be gentle and civil and polite and get our --. sorry. come on, now. so i didn't said i didn't say it. okay. all right. get beat by the republicans with civility and act like gentlemen. no, it is the wrong political strategy. donald trump is good at one thing and one thing only. being loud, ridiculing others, mocking others, running to the camera and guess what? he won in 2016 and need nearly one in 2020. and right now he is a giant lead on joe biden as we speak. so sorry. and i know it hurts some people's feelings, but ridiculed
1:02 pm
definitely works in politics and should you ridicule the republicans. well, it depends on the situation. if they're good republican voters and they want to they want to fight against corruption, no take yes for an answer. right. but if they're a republican politician and what is trump now proposing? he only has one proposal for his next term to help the average american know to go right wing socially, no. to build a wall? no. it's to lower corporate taxes. again so is that worthy of ridicule? hey, donald trump, you're pretending to be a populist. and all you ever do is serve the rich. now you want to give them a bigger tax cut. got blessed. that is the wrong way to go. all right. now let's hear from lg in grove city, ohio, on the republican line. well, first of all, you don't have an independent line. i read as an independent. oh, i'm sorry about that error. but go ahead. we'll you as an independent then. so my question is.
1:03 pm
what is your denomination? number one question. number two. what is your feelings on this past veteran's day that the american flag was taken down and the palestinians flag put up where i? all right, let's get you a chance to respond to that. okay. so because i didn't have enough hurdles, my denomination is atheist and. but hold. if you're a republican and you didn't like that i was born muslim, so. so this is going to be a piece of cake. but you know what, guys? i actually. i know it's corny, but i actually believe in the american people. and they elected barack obama. and yeah, he had a funny immigrant name, too. and his middle name was hussein. and everybody said they weren't going to, but they did.
1:04 pm
and i believed in him from day one. and and barack obama, after his first inauguration, had an approval. of 83%. so that's the american people saying, we like that guy. we want that guy. and so there's great goodness in the american people. so i don't think they're going care that i was born muslim or that i'm an atheist. but if you care and you say, no if he doesn't agree with my exact religion and i want to be ruled by a religion and i want to rule be ruled by theocrats, well then i'm not your guy. you should go move probably to saudi arabia or iran, where they're ruled by religion. see how that starting out in terms of the palestinian flag being put in place of the american flag. didn't happen. you probably heard it on right wing media. they lie non stop. if you heard it on right wing media, it has like a 90% chance of being a lie. so there's no palestinian flag being put above the american flag. that's nonsense. all right. last caller that we can get to today, david in whitman, michigan on our independent
1:05 pm
line. so thank you for taking my call. i just want to appreciate c-span. my question is, they were to win the court battles within the states. how would you plan on getting your. 14th amendment amendment ratified into the federal government and if that did happen, considering you're a lover of land and country, why would you running as a spoiler or a proxy, as you stated, actually help our country move forward? yeah. so there's two different things there. first of all, the good news about the 14th amendment is you don't need to it. it already exists. so you just need the supreme to go, oh, right. the 14th amendment says naturalized citizens have equal protection. so then we're done with it. look, you learned in eighth grade in a civics class that you have to be natural born to be a president. but you also learned to pluto was a planet. it turns out it's not. you also learned this for basic
1:06 pm
food groups. now they say there's five. no, that's not written in stone. that was just an a in a text book. what really matters is what's in the constitution and what the supreme court says is in the constitution. so if they all they got to do is acknowledge the 14th amendment, you don't need a new amendment. and then the second part of his question was about how i love america, but i'm being a spoiler. well, okay, wait a minute. if first of all, if you're a winger, then then. donald trump was a spoiler. the press had already said that jeb bush was the presumptive candidate. how dare he be a spoiler if you are a democrat? hillary clinton back in 2008, was the presumptive candidate. barack obama was a spoiler. how dare he be a spoiler? oh, right. there is no one who's anointed. we don't live in a monarchy. we live in a democracy where the parties individually get together in primary and go, hey, who would be our best representative? who would be our strongest fighter? who would take on the other side the best and represent us the best? that's what primaries are for.
1:07 pm
that's why i'm in this primary. jake for america dot com. help me support win the primary because i'm actually going to fight for you and guys who wins is about in washington 98% of time it's about their ego. right. but for me if don't pass those bills, if i'm the president, then i'm a failure and you should throw me out. okay. we've got to get you higher wages, a lower drug prices, and and a paid family leave so moms can take off 12 weeks after they have a baby. if we don't deliver on those things for you, then we've done nothing at all. who cares about the titles and status that they covet so much? just vote for a guy who's going to actually represent you for the first time in your life. that's all the time we have. thank you so much. jank you were a democratic candidate for president and also the founder and host of the young turks. thank you so much. thank you. really appreciate the opportunity. and that's all we have for washington journal. thank you for your calls and your time this morning. please stay tuned. tomorrow at 7 a.m., we'll have
