7:30 am
here is a clip of that. they are talking about election integrity. >> public perception is, at least in arizona, something seems to go wrong every time. what specifically can be supported in the senate to restore faith and confidence, regardless of who wins or loses an election? >> we have had parliaments across the country since 2000. one year, democrats are mad and the next year, republicans are. people in arizona have been burned, they are tired of hearing about hiccups and loopholes and problems that happen on election day. we want to make sure our legal vote counts. my opponent wants illegal votes to count. i want every legal vote to count. i don't care if you are the most liberal democrat or the most conservative republican or where
7:31 am
most of arizona is, somewhere in between. i want every legal vote to count. my vote is let's get something like what we used to have, paper ballots and we know the results on the might of the election. we can't have people pouring across our country illegally and voting. not only does he want to let them vote, he wants to give them all asylum. >> one minute to respond. >> whenever she does not have an answer, she goes to border patrol. i'm not for illegal voting. she has caused harm to arizona. she has caused harm and made a laughing stock and that's dangerous. she has 14 lawsuits. she is suing to be reinstated as governor. she has caused a good republican to have to get private security because of the threats she has cast upon him. to the point where he sued for defamation and she admitted she lied about him.
7:32 am
now she's waiting for the judge to say how much she will have to pay him. this is what we are talking about she just also said she wants to get rid of vote by mail . so what we are seeing here is kari lake, again, who has still not said she lost the 2022 election, she is dangerous to arizona. she will do anything to win. arizona is the one that is losing right now. host: we are hearing from you this morning, asking you will you vote to reelect your member of congress? we are getting responses in on social media. this text from shane in arizona, i've been willinote r either democrat or republican. but this time around, i will not vote for someone who supports trump. ri lake will not get my vote. this coming in o x, i'm proud
7:33 am
to vote for my represented. her staff is responsive to her constituents. couldn't ask for more. looking at reelection rates, this from open secrets, it shows reelection rates over the years, looking at the last election in 2022. it shows 94.5% of health members were reelected -- of held members were reelected. in canton georgia on the line for democrats, -- in canton, georgia, on the line for democrats, good morning, earl. caller: i don't know if i hear you or not. host: hi, earl. caller: do you hear me? host: i do. caller: i've never voted for a republican.
7:34 am
but -- and collins when they were together, they prevented the engineers from raising the boat docks on the lakes. the lakes are public property. they are both republicans and they are not going to get my -- collins, i can't vote for him because he's already out. these republicans, from day one when biden was in there, they have done nothing but shout about how open the border is. host: sylvia in arlington, virginia on the line for independents. good morning. caller: i'm going to be voting for anderson. this is the 26th district in virginia. and then there is an asian american man that i have trouble
7:35 am
saying his name but he's -- she was in the navy and i will be voting for him for senate. -- he was in the navy and i will be voting for him for senate. host: who is your current representative in congress? caller: the current member, i'm not sure but these are both new. anderson and the asian american and the navy for senate. i have trouble saying his name. host: is the seat held b a democrat or republican currently? caller: republican, they are both republicans. host: braun, good morning. -- ron, good morning. caller: i will not be voting for my congressman. i went to one of his rallies and
7:36 am
asked him why when trump was in there for four years that he didn't secure the border. i asked him how many bills he passed on the border when he was in there. he said zero. i asked him how many bills he's passed since he's been in there. he said zero. i asked him what he's been doing and then i find out that all he does when he's in there is raise money for the republicans. i asked him why he didn't do anything, why he was in there to secure our borders. trump said he was going to secure our borders the day he got in there. while he is -- why he is -- now, i have no idea. host: who is running against the congressman there, now? caller: you know, i really don't care. anybody but vern buchanan and anybody but rick scott. rick scott, our senator, he took
7:37 am
and ripped off the government for $750 million when he was in charge of his health care company. he only won by think 1% last time -- by .1% last time and i do not believe he will win this time. i hope he doesn't, i pray he doesn't. host: jessica on the line for independents, good morning, jessica. caller: good morning. thank you for taking my call. my representative is vinny hoyer, i will not be voting for him. he has been in office for longer than i've been alive i feel like. this year, i will be, once again, voting for another opponent. her name is michelle. on the senate side, we have the
7:38 am
big election race between angela also brooks and our former governor, hogan -- angela also brooks and our former governor, hogan. even though our governor has been decent, he has been a failure when it comes to transportation in the state of maryland, in terms of supporting other initiatives for other democratic -- graphics. and alsobrooks, personally, i don't align with her values. i'm undecided on the senate side. but i will not be voting for vinny moyer. host: judy in mississippi on the
7:39 am
line for independents. good morning. caller: i voted against donald but i'm on the republican side this time. i don't understand why people blame biden for the inflation and do not realize that on december 19, when covid came out, trump told us it was not real, it was a hoax and it would go away and continued to have rallies during the whole time. he said he knew it would be bad but it was -- but was afraid it would cost him the election. steve bannon sold money. -- stole money from the wall. it was called rebuild the wall. bannon is supposed to be sentenced in december. host: judy, talk to me about who you are voting for for your
7:40 am
member of congress. caller: i voted for -- pickens i think his name is. i voted for anyone running against trent haley. i voted democrat all the way. host: audrey in blue hill, kentucky. caller: hello. we are very fortunate to have morgan mccarthy. previously, we had john yarmuth. we are very happy to have morgan . he has done a lot for us here. host: so you are voting to reelect him? caller: yes. absolutely. straight democrat, thank you. host: rob in grand junction,
7:41 am
colorado, line for independents. good morning, rob. caller: i do not have -- i'm in an open seat because -- we have jeff byrd and adam frisch running. before i was an independent and trump took over the republican party, i was a moderate republican. i don't know what jeff byrd is for. all he does is spew talking points. adam frisch will be working for the border. he wants to lower crime. he wants to help out with water rights in the estate. so, during the primary, all the
7:42 am
radical trump republicans lost and lost the primary. an interesting district but adam frisch only lost by about 465 votes last time. i will be voting for him because he holds my views of a moderate republican. thank you. host: you are probably seeing a lot of ads right now as we get closer to the election. the house majority pack, the super pac that is a file that with the chambers democratic leadership is running in several key states including north carolina's first district. this is an ad that is focused on lori buck, challenging the democratic incumbent, don davis. >> lori buckow supports a national abortion plan. --
7:43 am
>> and prosecute women if they get an abortion. >> extremists have rolled out project 2025 to do just that. >> she would put politicians in charge of our health care. treating women like criminals. >> lori and her extremist agenda have no place here. host: that is endorsed by speaker mike johnson and house republican leadership is running for several key races included the -- including the new york fourth. this is an ad focusing on lauren guillen, challenging anthony d has been zero. -- anthony d'esposito. >> she tried to stop a property
7:44 am
tax cut. >> because guillen wanted to use her money as her own -- your money as her own personal piggy bank. costing taxpayers millions of dollars. more for her, less for us. that is laura guillen. host: linda in missouri on the line for republicans. good morning. caller: thank you for taking my call. yes. i will be voting for my congressman. and also our senator, josh hawley. i think that when i listen to the different collars and everything, i honestly believe that -- callers and everything, i honestly believe that many of them don't research and look at how different people vote. everyone is complaining that
7:45 am
this republican congress didn't do very much. but there was such a small margin between them. it's very difficult when the margins are so small that it is almost split. it's difficult to get anything done in congress. and you can go back in history and see this again and again. they promise everything but they don't deliver it a lot of times because they just don't have the votes. and you have the extreme left and the extreme right. i think that you need to look at each individual person and where they stand in their voting records. i am surprised a lot of people don't even know who their representatives are. i will be voting for jason
7:46 am
smith. i will be voting for josh hawley. i wish more people would take the time to really research. we can find that information online. about their specific voting records. what bills they have introduced, why that bill was not passed in congress. we have had many do-nothing congresses in the last 20 years. and there is not a lot of bipartisan support. because they are at a different spectrum on what they believe in and what they don't believe in. i am personally a pretty conservative person. not really far right. i'm in the middle for
7:47 am
republicans. i just want to put that out there. go out and research and find out why those bills don't get pas sed. host: that was linda. she meant in -- mentioned you can find out information. you can go to health.gov -- house.gov and find your representative by inputting your zip code and it will pop up and tell you who you will be voting for. from there, you can find that information and make your decision about who to cast that ballot for. up next, kevin in new york on the line for democrats. good morning, kevin. caller: good morning. thank you for taking my call. i live in the 21st congressional district. it is currently occupied by elise stefanik. i feel that her impact on the
7:48 am
congress has been minimal. she rarely, if ever, has had a town hall meeting in the plattsburgh area, an area of republican support. i will be voting for collins for the 21st congressional district. we need some real progress in congress. and we just haven't had any. host: robert in san diego, california, on the line for independents. good morning, robert. caller: progress is an oxymoron to tell you the truth. i have not voted in many years. it is run by little dictators all over the place, these are all democrats, can't do anything with them. republicans have no hold in this state and it is sad.
7:49 am
i like listening to c-span because i get to experience what other people go through in other states. it's important to know outside of california what other people feel. host: regis in greentree, pennsylvania. good morning, regis. caller: i will be voting for my current representative, chris deluzio. i like his record. but the overwhelming factor is he doesn't believe that congressman no better than doctors about women's health. the whole antiabortion movement is rather strong in this state. and they need to be stopped. i will definitely be voting to put chris back in. actually, i will vote straight democrat this time. thank you. host: regis, are you still there? caller: pardon? host: are you still there, i was
7:50 am
going to ask about your senate vote. there is a close senate race there. caller: casey pressure. -- for sure. mccormick is just a carpetbagger. he doesn't even live in the state. he has never held political office and senate is high for a first job. i will be voting for casey, the democrat. host: senator bob casey is one of the current pennsylvania senators. he is in one of those competitive races right now. politico report rates that race as lean democrat. up next, mary in mississippi on the republican line. caller: good morning. thanks for taking my call. i will be voting straight republican. i do know my representatives and
7:51 am
my senator, cindy hyde-smith and mike. i want to talk to democrats and how they call the show and think they know people's hearts. including donald trump. it's not a christian thing to do to judge other people. that is in the bible. judge not lest you be judged. lying is a sin and there are people who call in and tell the most outrageous lies. c-span lets them go with it. i just don't see how y'all can not be food for propaganda that are lies. it's outrageous, it hurts your heart to see the souls.
7:52 am
the air in america today, it's the saddest -- i'm 71 years old and this is the saddest election. it's just an air over the country of sadness and misery. host: gym in brownsville, oregon, the line for independents. good morning. caller: good morning and thanks for taking my call. this lady is talking about the lying and all of this stuff, how could you even think to say something like that when donald trump lies all the time? poor lady, i will pray for you and you pray for me but let's just be clear. donald trump, i want america to hear this, if donald trump becomes president of the united states, putin will be running this country. it's not going to matter who congress is. it's not going to matter who we vote for in the senate or the
7:53 am
house. if you allow trump to get in the office this time and if you give the senate and the house to the republicans, you are going to lose this country. we are going to lose our democracy. host: jim, let's talk about your vote in congress. who is your current member of congress and did you vote to reelect them? caller: i will be voting straight, down the ticket, for that very reason. i do not want putin to run this country. i changed from democrat to independent for other reasons. this time, our country is on the line. this democracy is on the line. if you care about this democracy, you will vote to keep putin from running this country. host: marcia in florida on the
7:54 am
republican line. good morning, marcia. caller: hi there, first off, that's ridiculous. putin, that's just ridiculous. the thing that gets me, i will be voting straight republican. but the lies -- everything they keep saying about abortion. host: i'm going to stop you right there. i want to get you back on track, we are asking you about your vote for congress and if you are reelecting your current member, who is your current member and is that the person you're voting for? caller: i am 100% republican. people have to figure out the truth. they are being lied to and you can't even talk to them about it. host: leslie in georgia on the line for democrats. good morning. caller: good morning. can you hear me? host: i can. go ahead. caller: i will be voting for hank johnson. i would like to say this to the
7:55 am
american people and to the public and voters. first of all, republican voters, i want you all to know that two weeks before the storms, there was a bill to increase fema's disaster relief fund. the republicans, all of them, 100 of them voted against it. secondly, the republicans voted against inflation reduction -- the inflation reduction act. it did get passed. you can thank the democrats because all of the republicans voted against that. you can thank the democrats because whoever you are, you are getting $35 on your insulin and other things are going your way. second -- thirdly, you should be mad at your representatives. because they didn't want to pass that porterville. you should -- border bill.
7:56 am
you should have told them. we the people have to start running this country. we have to decide who we put in office. y'all should not let these republican politicians go in there and not pass laws for everybody in the country. you all are putting in representatives and senators who won't help the american people. host: that was leslie. another race that is being closely watched is iowa's third district. there was a debate between the candidates in that race. the democrat, landon beckham and republican incumbent zach nunn. here they are, talking about agriculture policy and the farm bill. >> moving onto the topic of agriculture, a big one for our stay, you worked for the department of agriculture. the bill is two years overdue.
7:57 am
congress has stalled on what should be included in that. what policy do you think needs to be included in the next farm bill and what would you be willing to compromise? you have 60 seconds to respond. >> it was incredible, and honor truly to have worked at the usda for 10 years. and i had a chance to work closely with our farmers and ranchers and in particular, our veterans. it was an amazing thing for me to do that. i know that the farm bill has always been one of those bills in congress that has received incredible bipartisan support. so it's unfortunate to see that that is not happening now. jody, you mentioned it. it expired a year ago and is set to expire again. there are pieces in this farm bill i don't think will pass because politics gets in the way again. i want to see someone who is willing to get in there and compromise and get things done. i'm willing to do that. i think it is quickly important to make sure we pay attention to
7:58 am
what's in the farm bill. that we pay attention to support for a nutrition program. in making sure we actually support buying our crops versus selling our crops. >> mr. nunn, what policy needs to be included in the next farm bill and what are you willing to congress on? >> thank you for everything you do for our country. i am thrilled to have over 87 thousand iowa farmers endorsing my team. we have lead on the house committee. we have passed bipartisan legislation, democrats and republicans working together. even though i am a freshman, we have gotten more legislation into the farm bill than any other member of the committee. 17 bills, going from making sure iowa has crop insurance to making sure young and beginning farmers have the means to start. also making sure that making
7:59 am
something near -- making sure something near and dear to me is being held accountable. the reality is the house is moving forward, the senate has not put so much as a -- on what they need to do. host: back to your calls, asking will you vote to reelect your member of congress? up next, jack in tallahassee, florida on the independent line. good morning, jack. caller: yes, my u.s. senators are -- senator is rick scott. i'm a little nervous. when he was governor, he sold the state plane and he had his own private plane that cost more money than the state plane did. when he was ceo of columbia
8:00 am
health in louisville, kentucky, he manipulated or stole $300 million of medicare. he pay back $100 million. that was really -- paid back $100 million. that was really nice. he was elected u.s. senator twice. i just understand these things. it's very, very sad. i know when he was growing up, he grew up in the projects. i know some people who grew up in the projects in jacksonville. host: jack, what about your member of the house of representatives? your congressman? caller: my congressman? i don't know who my congressman is.
