rick santorum, who enjoyed a rather healthy lead in michigan is bolster the case for romney's candidacy. when he has time to campaign in a state and more importantly spend a lot of money in the state, both he and his super pac then he can do well. that's only going to be borne out further in the next round of voting in super tuesday, where of course there is more of a national campaign. it's going to be harder for rick santorum to rely on his grassroots appeal, if you will and it's going to insent vize the campaigning. >> and emphasizeing the issues. the extraordinary about michigan. here is a poll that shows the g.o.p. voters are far more concerned with the economy than social issues. why is santorum doubling down on the social issues? is there some get out the vote quality that he could whip up if

afanatics they could come caught even if they don't nowhere to vote for him. >> this is where he is, and he can't get away from it. this is the strongest contrast with mitt romney who many social conservatives feel leary on mitt romney's stance on those social issues where they are very comfortable with rick santorum. nationally and particularly with the swing and independent voters who decide these elections of the general elections, these issues are not really where the focus is. the focus is on economic issues and jobs. rick santorum. can't really deviate too far from where he's strongest and where his strongest contrast with mitt romney are, nor can he ignore the economic issues where most voters, republican primary voters place those at their top issues will gravitate towards mitt romney. it's a tough row to hoe for rick

santorum. >> if romney really handed santorum something recommend nicing something that took place before he was born. but now we have santorum with robo calls seeking votes by democrats, what does it mean on wednesday? isn't that basically an anville to hit him over the head from romney or guinn or ron paul who said you went into a republican party and asked for democratic votes? >> it's to an extent acknowledging the self sabotaging aspect, where you see mischief, it's in the interest of the other party to vote for the weaker candidate. the candidate who they think will be weakest in the general election. so the fact that he is playing into this to try to hurt mitt romney is in some ways acknowledging that he thinks that democrats would view him as the weaker candidate.

>> marcos, a couple of people heard that. republicans in michigan thought it was a setup by somebody to hurt rick santorum until they heard the last line of that. what is your reaction to this? >> yeah, no, absolutely--it helps rick santorum, absolutely. the idea being that michigan has an open primary, the democrat contest is irrelevant. they have their own caucuses in may. therefore, it's an opportunity for democrats to actually help prolong this election a little

bit longer because we've seen that the longer this drags out the worse it is for mitt romney and rick santorum and the best it is for barack obama. so we've been urging our readers and our michigan crowd to turn out in vote for rick santorum. we've seen the michigan democratic party turn out and vote. obama campaign moves on and the super pac have been hitting mitt romney in attack ads. if you're hitting mitt romney, you're trying to depress his turnout to help rick santorum. there is no other option. the multi prong, multi effort campaign to deliver santorum victory in michigan. if we do, this thing drags out for another month, if not two. >> santorum, no matter what advantage you're handing to him or this sort of bizarre campaign that would come back and fall on top of his head on wednesday. they could say he only one because of the democrats which screws the things up more for

several mayors and governors have discussed the possibility of a federal investigation but documents obtained by the ap now make it seem less likely that an investigation will occur. not only was the federal government aware of the spying program but made a hand in funding it. the program federally funded one designed to aid local agencies disrupting illegal drugs. it was used to fight terror i am. the ap confirmed that a portion of that money was being used for the nypd spying program. congress approves funds for the program but it is not provided detailed breakdown of the program's activities and nypd intelligence operations receive little oversight in new york. but according to chauncey parker, the director of the hidta program about $1.3 million of the federal money was used by

14th amendment, and the c.i.a. was involved, under title 50 of the u.s. code there is a strong prohibition of the c.i.a. being involved in domestic surveillance, domestic policing, they're not supposed to be doing this. so there are so many avenues and this might--the misuse of this drug--anti drug program might be another avenue to go after. mostly what i would like to do is to get everyone from the mayor to the attorney general you know, from the president on down, to condemn the idea of profiling. to condemn the idea of targeting people based on their religion. whatever avenue we take to go to court and stop this particular activity, that's not enough unless we can just erase the temptation from any police department's mind of ever trying to do something like this.
