they pride themselves on the idea that they're giving for alternate reasons than has to do with the industry's self interest. chris dodd the chairman of the mpa would like to see them give more and connect that. but that's just not the way people give. elizabeth warren's appeal was that video that you just saw. she kind of gave voice to the disappointment that some of these donors had in president obama that he wasn't able to convey the message for the buffet rule or the message during the whole showdown in quite the same way that she was able to. she has an authenticity and empathy that they aren't seeing from a lot of applications that come through town. >> yes, there is no question about that. look, nobody knows progressives more than i do. i'm connected to all these guys. i worked with them for the last ten years. i've had them all on my show. and everybody got a huge buzz

through elizabeth warren when she actually defended her principles. to me i would much rather have barbra streisand not listen to chris dodd, because chris dodd for the motion picture association of america pushes things i'm not in favor of, it should be i want to donate because this person is doing the right thing. not because i want to donate because the movie industry is favored over the online industry. isn't that what we're supposed to be donating for. >> that's the argument. and luckily a lot of people in the industry who are on thing weresive side that's the majority of how people give. you have a difference on the studio level. elizabeth warren, she really kind of came in amidst a lot of candidates in the senate who really want to raise money but she really has stood out and you kind of knew this right when she entered the race.

she had name recognition and a certain star power. what is telling is this evening in bel air a studio chief is having a big fundraiser for nine senate candidates, elizabeth warren is not among them, one of the reasons probably is she's able to raise money on her own she's able to get donors on her own. she doesn't need that other support. >> you know, they're apparently doing that in bel air today and i didn't get an invite. i'm feeling sad. ted johnson from variety. we appreciate it. by the way scott brown personally was responsible since he was the 60s vote, for getting $11 billion from taxpayers to the bank. that's where scott brown gets the money from. speaking of wall street guys when we come back, an outrageous case of bonuses news that came out today.
