this show is about analyzing criticizing, and holding policy to the fire. are you encouraged by what you heard the president say the other night? is this personal, or is it political? a lot of my work happens by doing the things that i'm given to doing anyway, by staying in touch with everything that is going on politically and putting my own nuance on it. in reality it's not like they actually care. this is purely about political grandstanding. i've worn lots of hats, but i've always kept this going. i've been doing politics now for a dozen years. service up in manhattan for frank lautenberg who passed away on monday. he will lay in the state -- in the rotunda of the united states capitol today. one of the few senator -- i forget maybe just the second who has been awarded that -- not everybody gets that honor. frank lautenberg does. he came down yesterday back to washington on amtrak. he was a great, great supporter of amtrak. but mr. amtrak himself is the one who gave the eulogy yesterday. joe biden. vice president biden -- i call him joe. i know him well. but vice president biden has continued the tradition of being the morning in chief. joe biden gives a eulogy like

nobody else. and he and frank of course new jersey, delaware, and they were both regulars on amtrak. and he said yesterday that he had taken amtrak between washington and willington 8,000 times. and he talked about one time he was rushing to catch the train and the conductor said don't worry, joe we're holding it for frank lautenberg. and biden said never did they hold the train for him, but they were holding it for frank because they considered him their biggest supporter. and he talked yesterday -- joked about how he and frank used to talk about religion. >> by the way, josh i'm representing the pope. that the reason all of these women are on his facebook page is because he has been reaching out to them? >> maybe. a new report by northwestern university say that most parents use some form of electronic devices to entertain their children, this is on top of television. doctors weighed in on the study, and they agreed there is little harm in letting kids play on the ipad or phone, just don't let it get out of hand. >> bill: i have games on my ipad. >> that's right. and john boehner was shared by the hand of god. the if is l cliff battle that took place was in tense, so

intense, that even god herself intervened. john boehner was facing a cue from a group of rogue republicans who were angling for his ousting, but they now say they spent hours in prayer and god spoke to them and told them to spare john boehner. >> bill: as you know i have a degree in theology. and i have read the scripture in the original greek. and they were talking about the book of samuel and i went back and looked at the book of samuel, and god only spoke about one person who should be speaker of the house of representatives, and it was nancy pelosi. they just got the translation wrong. >> right. >> bill: in the rose garden yesterday it was a glorious day outside for one, and president obama assembled his entire team

all the major players were there. dennis mcdunna jay carney they were all there for the moment and the announcement that -- by the way nobody -- people kind of expected maybe at some point but nobody was waiting for it yesterday, it came as a big surprise, but they put this ceremony together, the president walked out of the oval office into the rose garden with tom donilon who has been the national security advisor for the last four and a half years and walked out with susan rice and samantha power who will be our next ambassador to the united nations. the first thing t president obama praised the work of tom donilon. >> obama: i think tom has been

one of the most effective advisors our country has ever had. i am extraordinaryily proud to announce susan rice as our new security advisor. >> bill: susan stepped up to accept. >> mr. president, thank you so much. i'm deeply hon in order and humbled to serve our country as your national security advisor. >> bill: and then samantha power, former journalist pulitzer prize winning author on a book about genocide, her family was in the front row, but the 8-month-old wasn't too

happy. he decided he would rather be anyplace but right there. [ laughter ] >> bill: in fact i have to tell you, the president -- when the president started speaking this 8-month-old started making noise. i thought there was a heckler. and i said oh my god michelle is going to level this heckeler. and then i realized it was an infant, and whoever -- i think it was a family member picked up the infant and carried him off, but at any rate samantha power who will or next ambassador to the united nationed. >> it would be the honor of a lifetime to fight for american values and interests at the united nations. >> bill: she came here as a nine year old in ireland, and she

said she worked in front of the mirror hours and hours and hours to lose her irish accent. and she said she -- they landed in pittsburgh. she thought she was at the largest airport in the world when sheing landed and she was wearing a t-shirt like the american flag because -- and she said that was the t-shirt she wore attempt special occasion in ireland, and wore it arriving in the united states, and she said i soon realized that in america you don't wear the flag you learn to live up to the flag. it was quite a moment but -- and i have to tell you. we talk about it a lot. i have attended many, many ceremonies at the white house, everything from welcoming nascar drivers to handing out and awarding people with the medal

of honor, on and on and i have never seen a celebration like yesterday. for a couple of reasons. number one because susan rice is a tremendous gifted person. she is one of the smartest toughest, and most effective people i have ever seen in action. she was president obama's chief foreign policy advisor when he ran for office in 2007 and 8. she has been an outstanding as visor to the united nations and i think she's be terrific as a national security advisor. that was one thing. the other thing was this was the ultimate up yours on the part of president obama to republicans in congress. it was the ultimate f you by president obama. unspoken, but everybody knew that's exactly what it was, because after benghazi republicans falsely accused her

of deliberately lying to the american people, trying to mislead the american people. susan rice on those sunday shows after benghazi. she went out and said here is what the intelligence officials and organizations tell us right now, that we know. this could change, but here is what they tell us they know right now, which turned out to be not so true. it was a terrorist attack and not just a spontaneous demonstration. they did not know that at the time. they accused her of deliberately lying. they blocked her from being secretary of state, and now susan rice ends up closer to the president and in a job that i would argue is more powerful than that of secretary of state. so this really backfired on the republicans. and boy were they pissed yesterday. oh, man, they were whining and

whining. rand paul put out a tweet that said i don't know that -- they would keep her in any job let alone reward her. john mccain said i think it's a terrible mistake. jennifer reubin said she was promoted for lying. all they can do -- all they could do was whine because this job does not require senate confirmation so there's no way to block her. that's why it was the ultimate in your face. i think it was a great move on the part of the president. and it's the president saying to the republicans, oh yeah, we'll get you in the end. what do you think about it? 866-55-press, 866-557-7377, and samantha power too, she will be great. good move yesterday. one we can all celebrate. let's talk about it when we come

you are going to block her from this job, you are going to pile on right now, you are going to practice the politics of personal destruction. there will come a time when i will get back at you. and he had that chance yesterday. 866-55-press. i think this also serves to put the benghazi thing to rest where from the beginning trying to make the case that the administration tried to lie to all of us. instead of doing what the nation did after 9/11 where we all got together and said these terrorists attacked us. let's go after them. in the case of benghazi republicans said these terrorists attacked us. let's go after president obama. let's go after susan rice.

let's go after hillary clinton. larry calling from connecticut what do you say, larry? >> caller: good morning, guys. i think president obama told republicans here benghazi this. >> bill: yeah, i know right. >> caller: and you know what it's nice to see susan rice she got the last laugh on this deal. >> bill: indeed she did, larry, it was -- it was a glorious moment for many reasons number one because she is an outstanding person and she will be great in that job. she has kind of trained all of her life for that job. that's the person every single morning the president starts his day with his national security advisor no matter who the president is, and that's the person that brings the president up to date on everything that is going on around the world. that's susan rice's job.

lying, accused her of deception, when again, all she did was tell congress what intelligence agencies knew at the time and informed congress that the story -- or the report she was giving them could very well change as they learned more about the attack in benghazi. that turned out to be the case but the ultimate triumph yesterday was that susan rice who just hunkered down the president who hunkered down looking for another opportunity, which came from tom donilon stepped down. this unapologetic selection reflects a conclusion in the west wing that when it comes to choosing personnel, the president can never satisfy republicans who will find almost anybody objectionable.

>> caller: good morning, i think susan will do a great job like she did before. and i can't think of a better way to slap them across the face. and it's about time that he did it. it has been coming for a long time. >> bill: it has indeed. you talk about her as national security advisor someone on "politico" summed up -- and i think this is important to remember. susan rice was awarded -- here -- here's what credentials she brings. okay? listen to this. she was awarded a truman scholarship while at stanford. she was a rhodes scholar. she got a masters and doctorate at harvard. she was a special assist important to the president for african affairs. she then served as assistant secretary of state for african affairs.

she was a senior fellow at the brookings institute. she was a foreign policy advisor for john kerry's presidential campaign, and then for president obama 2008 presidential campaign. has served as ambassador to the united nations. what more could you bring to the post, right? >> caller: that's quite a list there. i don't think obama himself has got that much stuff. >> bill: exactly. i don't think president obama himself brought any more -- in terms of foreign policy experience obviously than susan rice has, but again it's the unfairness of the attack -- i think what offended a lot of us is the unfairness of the attacks on -- on susan rice when -- if you read her transcript to those

different talk shows on that sunday where she clearly said look, we're not really sure exactly what hand yet, we're trying to find out but this is what the intelligence agencyies tell us at this time, and this is what i'm relating to you. and then you read the emails released from the white house, which show that everything that was said at that time was written by the cia. this is what the cia wanted out there. they were the ones that were running the show. so it was not "stephanie miller show" calling the shots. it was not hillary clinton calling the shots. it wasn't even the white house calling the shots. this was a very sensitive matter, and they were saying what the cia wanted them to say. and for that the republicans waged war on hillary clinton. waged war on susan rice. and i suggest that they will wage war on sam samantha power.

been dealing with it. and more men are actually sexually assaulted every year than women in some cases, and this is just what gets reported. it's very depressing but not all together a surprise. >> bill: i'm waiting, i hope not in vain for the white house to say you send us that bill we'll sign it. and that's a little troubling for me. >> it is. for the republicans trying to get mileage out of the irs, and benghazi, the ap not so much, but they are doing nothing about this. if there is an area i could devote my time for that doesn't involve smearing the president,

and could help bring women to my party, this is the place. >> bill: right. and at least an issue where republicans could join democrats and say we have to do something about this. the silence is indeed deafening. i have to ask you about your neighbor chris christie. >> $24 million, that's almost as much as he spends on lipator in a year. and now he is doing all this just because he wants to be president that much. and that's what it is all about. what seems to make the most sense is under the rules, the governor of jersey has to have a special election between 70 and

76 days after announcing he is going to be having it but chris christie could have waited 18 days and then made the announcement and had this election on election day, instead he's trying to get the democratic vote out a month before election day, get all of those cory booker votes to the polls, and hopefully when the election rolls around all of the voters will stay home because they already voted this fall. it might be brilliant, because it might be a huge huge red voter turn out. >> bill: it could also backfire and i really hope it does on him. and i think we're seeing the real chris christie. we'll see the real john fugelsang again tonight at 8:00 on "viewpoint." thanks john. >> always a pleasure sir. >> bill: look for you then. okay. >> announcer: this is the "bill press show." ♪

capitol at the msnbc and current tv studios. left there and saw this big black smoke up in this area toward where my house is toward where this studio is, god knows, and it looked pretty bad. drove up this way, picked up carol in front of our house to find out what it was, and it was -- just a tragic loss -- one of the great institutions in this neighborhood of capitol hill of frager's hardware 90 years old. totally destroyed. the fire just ripped through there. >> yeah was here and heard the commotion and walked down there. it is so much more than the neighborhood hardware store. >> bill: yeah, it was the

classic old fashioned hardware store. this is not some ace hardware right or home depot, this is right in the heart of town and like half of block at any rate and there was a hardware store and an equipment rental store, and a paint store all part of frager's and a big outdoor area where we buy all of our plants and where you go to get your propane tanks filled. and if you went in that hardware store, it was -- isles were so narrow you couldn't move old fashioned hardware store -- you could get anything you wanted there. >> yeah. >> bill: it was really the heart

required by law, they ordered nsa to start snooping on telephone conversations of americans, not just american calls overseas but american phone calls period across the board and to see the records from all of the different phone companies, and we progressives and liberals and americans all were outraged by this this snooping on our privacy without any evidence at all that we were connected to any terrorist organization or would know how to reach one by phone if we wanted to. with all of that outrage -- of course, nothing happened. nobody in the bush administration was ever charged with breaking the law, even though they did, but all of the outrage over that sort of subsided, i think it's time for outrage again. because the guardian reported yesterday that the obama administration invoking the

patriot act -- it's too bad they didn't -- they haven't repealed the patriot act. we didn't realize they were exploiting it and taking advantage of it. but citing the patriot act, the obama administration has gone to this the fisa court, this is the only difference between them and the bush administration they went to the court and sought permission, which the court gave them on april 25th and the guardian has a copy of the court order, which tells verizon -- the court okayed this, an order from the federal government to verizon that on a monthly basis -- i'm sorry, on a daily basis -- get this on an on going daily basis, verizon

and pete williams has reported this morning that he has been told by the obama administration there will be yet another investigation as to who leaked that information to the guardian, so here we go again. speaking about what the government is up to, last march 5th -- and we talked a lot about this on the program -- john pistol who is the head of the tsa, announced that they were going to relax some of the restrictions on what you can and can't take on a plane, and he said we are going to allow people -- reallow people to bring on small knives and some sporting equipment, like golf clubs and lacrosse sticks because i guess they felt these were not longer a threat. the flight attendants said wait a minute this is not such a

good idea. good morning. >> good morning. >> bill: so you raised tell about this and yesterday you won. tell us about it. >> that's right. thank you. it was not only not a good idea it was a horrible idea. so when this horrible policy idea came down the pike we got a very brief advance warning. we're talking less than 30 minutes before it went public. >> bill: oh, really? woe. >> yeah, so there were different leaders on a call with the tsa -- we were given a head's up, basically that this was going to be announced, and we immediately began a process of having a coalition, a coalition with our union and other unions that represent flight attend

ants. passengers overwhelmingly supported us. the officers joined us several pilot groups joined us, so it should tell something to the administrator that all of the constituents that are effected by this said this is a bad idea. >> bill: and yesterday the administrator announced, i changed my mind. >> capitulated and understood that it was a bad policy decision, and what he was able to say was that after engaging with stake holders, i'm going to reverse this policy decision. >> bill: maybe he should have checked with the stake holders ahead of time. >> that's exactly right. unfortunately that's indicative

of what often happens in washington, d.c. the knife lobby was very excited about bridging knives back on plains. they had been working to get a tsa-approved knife. >> bill: really? >> absolutely. and flight attendants were among the first people murdered on 9/11, and that was the trigger that ended up -- >> bill: sure. sure. >> and that began with small knives and box cutters, for us to think that this is what the administrator would do was a slap in the face and worse. and they talked about having a risk-based approach to security and we agree with that to focus on the most dangerous, and the highest risk, and to for example, understand our active duty military don't pose risk in

the security check point lane for example. however, something along the way went wrong in the assessment of the tsa's responsibility. and they became very very focused on only the aspect of an aircraft being used as a weapon of mass destruction and reinforced the cockpit door. which is great. however, what about the rest of us. >> bill: right. the flight attendants -- >> and all of the passengers as well. they say they can't use it as a weapon, so we're not concerned about passengers and crew members. and the tsa does a really good job of making sure that terrorists don't get on planes but there are people that get a little off kilter and if they

have a weapon any situation on an aircraft could escalate. we're thousands of feet in the air in a metal tube with no exit. we don't need to introduce that. >> bill: was it three-inch knives? six-inch knives. what does a small knife mean? >> 6 centimeters, less than 3 inches. >> bill: you could still do a lot of damage with that. >> absolutely. absolutely. and in a confined space and you have security experts saying this is a dumb idea and people will be injured and worse, and you have the law enforcement officers that are highly trained saying you cannot do this. flight attendants while we have some self-defense training, we look adequate self-defense security training if somebody were to come on board to cause

harm, so since we have been pressing for that kind of training since 9/11 we never got that however, they say okay. i'm going to let my buddies bring pocketknives on board. >> bill: are we -- it seems to me -- i fly a lot, right? are -- we are a lot safer than we were before 9/11 today, right? >> absolutely. >> bill: do you as a flight attendant feel safe on planes today? >> absolutely. absolutely. we have a great security and safety network. it's a web that keeps us all safe, and i do think the tsa is doing a really good job. and some really good initiatives like the precheck that makes those that travel a lot, like yourself, able to pass through more quickly if you agree to

give them more personal data but you voluntarily do that. >> bill: yeah. >> plus we're all trained. i think a lot of us are more vigilant. as a flight attendant i'm trained to be individualing lent but i think there's more of that today. >> bill: passengers are more vigilant too. >> yes but they aren't trained. we just had a case the other day on alaska airlines where a passenger had to be restrained. and we were thinking what if that guy would have had a knife. so unfortunately, some people still slip past the radar so to say. >> bill: i have to tell you that flying has changed so much in -- i mean in the last -- just the last few years. it used to be -- remember the days -- we were laughing the

other day of when you could smoke on a plane, with frank lautenberg passing away thank god for him for that. >> we will. i get goose bumps and thank you for mentioning him and his legacy for understanding for flight attendants that's my office, i have the best view in the world, but that's where i work, and the days when people could smoke on airplanes, just unbelievable. >> bill: right. those days are long gone. and you used to be given a meal -- you can still get it as long as you pay for it. but now it's the a la carte flying experience today. >> it is. and we work for private companies. so you want the companies to be successful, so our people can be employed, have sustainable

commune tease and jobs and all of that great stuff, so we want successful companies so there was a big change after 9/11 big change in what the traveling experience looked like but also an enormous change on what happened to our airlines, and there were massive layoffs, and the airlines were thrust into bankruptcy, and then they really stuck it to the workers, but how could the airlines recover, so they started charging to check your bags and purchase meals, and there was the argument of pay for what you want but it's definitely different. you don't have the big cart in the aisle with the big salad stirred up and served for you or

veda shook is the press -- international president of the association of flight attend attend attend attend -- attendants in studio with us. john mccain in the hearing on sexual assault in the military he said that he had met a woman who talked about her daughter wanting to go in the military, and he said i'm not sure knowing what i know about this widespread sexual abuse in the military, i could do so. not for that reason, but just for working standards, and benefits, and salary would you recommend someone male or female consider being a flight attendant today? >> yes i would recommend it. >> bill: a good job? >> it can be a good job depending on the carrier,

depending on whether or not you have a union that protects your wages and work standards. because it can be a wonderful job where you can see the world, and have a decent schedule and decent living and provide for a family, or it can be really rough where you have too long of days with too little benefits. it's a real microcosm of the broader aspect of what has happened in america for the working stiffs and the whole 99%, and 1%. and there has been a major shift. 9/11 triggers. and management allowed the carriers to use that to exploit the contracts, saw it as a great way to i'm going to use a

euphemism to reset the industry. so they went to bankruptcy and gutted the contracts. they had their pensioned gutted. they had their wages stripped. they had, you know, different changes in productivity so what has happened is you had a good job with good working standards, and you could have a secure retirement, and a lot of that has evaporated so you have seen productivity increased where we have the flat line or worse in wages. in many cases this work has been outsourced, and we're seeing that continued today at american airlines where that carrier has gone in with bankruptcy with $4 billion, and they will come

out of bankruptcy with even more money. and my mother is with the transport workers union represent heavy maintenance, and they have been able to keep that work in the united states. and a lot of that will go away to jobs that pay significantly less and some of that work will not be in the united states. >> bill: i remember the days of being from california, the old psa -- first of all they stewart stew -- stewardesses who dressed in short skirts and shorts. they were more sex opjekts. but now there are men and older

it would be rice. but it came so close to president obama's meeting with the new chinese president coming up over the weekend and his upcoming trips to germany and africa, and the idea is very much for the white house to say, look, everyone knows it's going to be her anyway, let's get her in there. >> bill: and it's kind of a case of don't get mad, get even in terms of congressional republicans too. >> susan rice wanted to be secretary of state. once it became obvious to her last year that that wasn't going to happen, i think she and probably the president saw the sort of back upalternative as not that bad of an idea since under the obama administration this decision making about foreign policy is very much centralized inside the white house. as hillary clinton saw, her

by the guardian, on an ongoing daily basis of all records. first question is it verizon only, do you think? >> no i don't think so but we don't know. the white house is not directly confirming the, you know accuracy of the report although de facto nobody is shooting it down in the administration this morning in saying -- is defending the white house's right to use the fisa's courts to obtain records for anti-terror purposes. >> bill: maybe this is a bill deal -- but the only difference i see between what the bush administration was doing post 9/11 and the obama administration is doing now is the obama administration went to

heros, winners of the medal of honor, i have never experienced a spirit of celebration like i did yesterday in the rose garden yesterday when president obama named susan rice as his next national security advisor. it was significant on several fronts, right? >> yeah, absolutely. it's a welcome back. it's vindication, you got beaten up badly by the senate. they rejected you as secretary of state. well, you are back. you are national security advisor, so in your face. number two it is family. this is susan rice. she has been a close advisor to the president for years. she was one of the first national security officials to join up with his security team. i worked under here on the national security team for the 2007/2008 campaign.

and third it is a symbol of women once again rising to prominent positions in the national security with both susan rice, and samantha power who will be the new un ambassador. >> bill: and hillary clinton, right? in terms of president obama's national security team dominated by women. >> yeah, hilary is out, and now it's kerry, and there was a little bit of complaint about lack of women. well, here they are. >> bill: what was it like working with susan rice? >> a pleasure. she is sharp. tough, absolutely but fair and provocative. she is not a status quo figure. she is not a process the paper kind of person. let's push it so in particular i was working with her on the nuclear policy team, and we

crafted under her guidance probably the most far-reaching ambitious visionary plan. reduce the number, save money, make america more secure a comprehensive plan crafted under her leadership. she gets this stuff. >> bill: so that is a priority for her? >> it is. she hasn't been dealing with it at the un, so mainly it has been non-proliferation treaty type things. but it looks like obama is determined to make his mark in this area and others. this is a we're not messing around pick. >> bill: and this is a sort of in your face kind of pick too, as you said which i loved about

syria there which is where i wanted to go next because there was some disturbing news. i was under the impression that the rebels were getting stronger and better organized and getting more help from allies around the world, and yet reading this morning that the assad regime has been able to retake a key city. what does this mean and is this a turning point? >> it could be. this is a major setback for the rebels who have held the strategically important city on the lebanese/syrian border. like many areas it goes back a mellen mellen mellenia in importance. the rebels have held it and captured the major military air base there, and with the help of

hezbollah, which has entered this war on the regime side -- >> bill: because syria has been a major supporter of hezbollah -- >> exactly. they may even link up with the sunnis in lebanon, it's what we have been talking about, the regionalization of this conflict. it's now spilled over decisively into lebanon. this could be a major setback. fighting was fierce. 50 shells a minute slam going the city. iranian-supplied iranian-supplied drones. airplanes, rockets, and now tanks have moved into the city. they have been cut off in some of their retreats.

>> bill: talk about liberal intervention. i'm not suggesting sending troops in, but are we really going to see the united states and the west basically stand by while russia and iran and hezbollah come to the aid of president assad, and we just let the rebels collapse? >> well washington blocked a resolution that was condemning the violence of [ inaudible ], has been blocking many resolutions on syria. the eu ended its arms embargo on the syrian rebels so you may see more arms going to the rebels. the u.s. is still leery of doing things like no fly zones. it's believed we have been stepping up our covert supply of

arms to the rebels. but what happens if you pump arms in, and start to get into this conflict, how do you get out of it? >> bill: yeah, but it looks like -- one possible outcome here is that assad survives. >> it's possible. and i haven't said that for the last year -- >> bill: right. >> and really it's these last few days that it looks like he could actually crush the rebellion. sorry about that. >> bill: we always turn our phones off. >> yes, we do. >> bill: i'm usually the one that makes that mistake. >> i was going to say. >> bill: let's talk about what is happening in turkey. >> yes. >> bill: the prime minister it looks to me like this is not

necessarily troubles with an international significance, so much as the people of turkey are fed up with their prime minister. he has been there too long maybe. >> turkey has been largely immune from the arab spring. >> bill: right. >> well, here it comes. massive demonstrations throughout turkey. i don't know where. he has been a very popular prime minister over the last 11 years, primarily because there has been a huge economic expansion in the last several years. turkey is the first country with a major middle class. ataturk is a secularist he is telling women to put their head

covers back on and so a small demonstration over a park -- over a park in turkey that the administration wanted to pave over for a shopping mall has blown up into this huge protest. there's a wonderful story about the woman in red, if you want to take a look at what this is somebody, google turkey women in red, and there's a series of photos of a young woman being sprayed with tear gas by a maxed masked policeman. it that's that kind of brutality that has outraged the public and lead to mass demonstrations out there turkey. >> bill: is this going to topple the prime minister? >> topple unlikely? set him back almost certainly. but it is still going on. we're in the middle of it. we may not be anywhere near the

so attractive that the israelis can't refuse. >> bill: but on the palestinian side there is still a split. >> yeah this is why it takes so many trips. he is proving to be a very dynamic and -- and committed secretary of state. off to a very strong start. >> bill: the president goes to moresville north carolina then san jose, and that out for an unusual summit to meet with the president of china. >> yes this is the first time they have met in this capacity. and it looks like there is a little bit of a warming trend with the u.s. on china on some very sticky issues like copyright issues, but also the

cyber war, the hacker attacks and there might be some agreement and cooperation from the united states and china try to quell that, and with china you have areas of mutual concern like north korea. china has been very helpful in walking back north korea. a couple of months ago we spent almost 30 days over this manufactured north korean crisis. the chinese pressure is apparent apparently bringing the north back to the bargaining table with south korea. they will talk again about that joint manufacturing zone. so you have got a lot at steak with the u.s. and china, and this could be an extremely important summit. >> bill: it looked like there was going to be a problem with north korea, and then dennis rodman went over. [ laughter ] >> and calmed it right down. the guy just wants to play a
