11:02 am
susan was going to good to have you with us catalonia has begun its first week under direct rule from spain's central government and politicians and civil servants started returning to work amid uncertainty if they will accept orders from madrid hundreds of thousands of pro-human eighty demonstrators filled barcelona streets on sunday two days after separatist leaders declared independence spain dismissed catalonia as regional government over the weekend and must now decide if its leaders will be charged with treason. hell some polls in barcelona covering the very latest developments for us are charlotte has the president showed up to work today. yes it is crunch time here that's the question everybody here wants to know are we going to see him walk into this regional government building behind me so far we've heard very little of him we know the leaders of this independence movement and then
11:03 am
to be meeting today is not yet clear whether he is going to attend president very unclear posts on his instagram account it shows the inside of this building just here and it's not known whether or not it was taken this morning or not other members of his cabinet have apparently started to return to work we did have one former dismissed territories minister himself on twitter at his desk saying he was back to work he's now left the office is that he's gone to that meeting we will say no that the parliamentary leader has also returned back to what but that is of course a huge problem if others start following suit madrid argues that they are acting illegally and will have to respond accordingly possibly with police getting involved so charlotte if carlos pushed him on does show up for today will he be arrested. that's the key question that's what people here
11:04 am
want to find out he does of course face arrest spain's public prosecutor is apparently preparing charges of rebellion against him that carries a thirty year prison term others as well who let this meeting with him also face charges that's up to the legal authorities here in spain though whatever his his face in that sense is it's going to be up to madrid and to push him on himself to decide how they want to play these next few days because it could be crucial in deciding whether or not this crisis remains calm as it has been so far all whether it becomes volatile is certainly the fear among people here that there could be some violence on the streets particularly if we do see them on and other members of his movement being led out of buildings in handcuffs that could really provoke the thousands who gathered here on friday to celebrate in defend independence into
11:05 am
defending what they say is the new and independent state and charlotte speaking of those protesters you know carla's first among called for passive resistance what could that look like. before we've seen so far it could be what we're seeing just here beside behind me they've got the flag that marking catalan independence as i said it has been very peaceful so far on himself has been clear that he doesn't want to see violence on the streets he said that in a statement on saturday he said he wanted democratic resistance other than others they previously in the build up to this within the independence movement has said that they'd like to see they would suggest civil unrest if they don't get their own way if spain does start imposing some of the practical implications of direct rule perhaps even blocking government buildings to stop officials from madrid taking charge so far though we haven't seen that materialize but as i said it's all to play for in the coming hours. charlotte shall some hell with the latest

developments for us in barcelona thank you. now iraq's autonomous kurdish region defied the central government and held a referendum on independence of a month ago kurds overwhelmingly back to separate state but the move triggered quick retaliation troops from baghdad seized she kurdish areas and now president barzani the man who championed independence for decades is stepping down a look now at some iraqi kurds have been reacting to the news. outrage in the kurdish capital protesters here in erbil forced their way into the parliament building as lawmakers voted to approve barzani his resignation but many here feel he's being mistreated after fighting for kurdish independence for decades . barzani's long struggle for a separate kurdish state culminated in last month's move to secede from iraq he
11:07 am
wanted that vote to be his legacy instead it's provoked baghdad to crack down on the kurds. in a defiant address barzani defended the referendum he said the will of the kurdish people was clear. and then get a referendum can never be erased because these are the votes of three million people from. iraq no longer believes in kurdish rights. iraq is using the kurdish independence referendum as a pretext to attack occurred. the vote for independence has angered the iraqi government backed at once the kurds to declare their referendum void and is backed up those demands with force after the referendum the iraqi government launched a surprise attack on kurdish controlled territory and seized her cook the oil rich
11:08 am
city would have been the economic hub of a future kurdish state. the loss of kirkuk has cost barzani support among some of his fellow kurds but it's unclear whether his resignation will help bring an end to the confrontation with baghdad. our correspondent funny for char is standing by for us in air bill the capital of iraqi kurdistan hi funny good to see you so who is in control of the region right now. if you look at the facts to me that the helicopters for example. helicopters all of the regional government and also if you look to my last you see here. sitting by making sure the people have that feeling that there's security here even iraqi kurdistan you get the impression everything is under control but looking at the fact that iraq the central government in baghdad has closed the airspace for international flights to our bill but also
11:09 am
their plan to close the borders to force iraqi kurdistan that clearly gives you a different picture or an additional element to that picture and that is the day by day says that controversial non-binding independence referendum and of september weeks control is basically being reduced every day and the question is just by home much to degree of autonomy over iraq according is going to be reduced as this conflict is continuing. funny. the man who championed it this referendum has decided to step down why now. it wasn't a really big surprise because president karzai has announce that he's going to step down or rather he's not going to run again for another term this term is over this year he said that prior to the independence referendum so he basically repeated what he planned to do anyway whatever the situation the political situation
11:10 am
situation iraqi kurdistan is much different from just a few weeks ago there are clashes there have been clashes last week over disputed territories the week before that has evolved so it is a very volatile situation some analysts suggest he's stepping down at this point in time to make sure that this conflict does not accelerate even food but also there's an opposition party in the parliament go along party which means change and they actually want to see change they say that it is because of barzani that iraqi kurdistan is in such a volatile situation iraq as well and that through barzani it's being jeopardized that that the territory of iraq or distant may become smaller and smaller not not just not becoming independent at some point but even risking that iraqi kurdistan autonomous region is losing that autonomy just briefly if you can where does all of this leave the kurdish push for independence in iraq.
11:11 am
people here if you talk to people here in our below everybody pretty much everybody from the heart say yes we want an independent state but views differ when you when you want to have an independent state due to the backlash from the independence referendum people who worry that this may ask even further so some people say here now ok i do want an independent state i finally want a homeland because i'm kurdish and i don't have a homeland but maybe right no it's not the best time to go for it. is funny fatah reporting from erbil in iraqi kurdistan thank you very much. now syrian activists say government bombing has killed at least eleven people in rebel held eastern how-to the area is north of the capital damascus and is part of an internationally brokered deescalation zone that was declared earlier this year but the government has laid siege to how to promise prompting the united nations to warn of a humanitarian crisis there. was already close to death when her parents brought

things with the film community we are here in los angeles we are here in beverly hills to give a fun to play because the center is so close to film and t.v. studios the stores have signed up to a new partnership to provide a concierge service for movie constant designers and wardrobe department stylists spend huge amounts of money on fashion when buying t.v. or film wardrobes it's a move that's supposed to make life easier for stylists. and we need to have a variety of clothes to do that so you can either go to one store or you can come to a mall that has three major department stores everybody get a label and you can get so much shop in a centralized place so that's great but then to have this to do a service angle where they're taking care of us and make it easier to do it it's really just icing on the cake for us california has always easily adapted to market conditions. this shopping mall seems to have found its mission serving ellie's elite and hollywood's professional movie making community. storms of
