investigators originally thought. parent lead the blackmailer or the blackmailers didn't mind risking injuries or even death of those who received the packages. the target the delivery firm d.h.l. included in the package was a black mail letter imbedded as a q.r. code. for. whoever sent the package demanded a large sum of money if you didn't get paid he said he would send more packages in . a similar package was found in early november in another city in brandenburg investigators believe the suspect may make good on his threat to deliver more dangerous parcels. well for more on this i've got do kate brady in the studio with me kate it's not terrorism but it sounds like there's still

a threat well there certainly is still a threat as police in front of said today this is clearly someone who's willing to put people's lives in danger with these packages and police now fear that there's going to be more of these packages being sent and interestingly enough as well in that package that was delivered to that pharmacy in potsdam on friday the perpetrator also made reference to a second package which was delivered at the beginning of november and in that case the black male lesser actually disappeared as the package went up in flames when that was opened and so now police are looking into the links between those two packages what do we know about who's sending these packages well police have managed to trace the package back to brummagem back so far the state of brandenburg and of course potsdam where this package was delivered on friday is the capital of that state but beyond that it's very sketchy information at the moment and so they'll also be having a look to see whether the package as well which you mentioned from november where

that was actually from as well authorities are stressing this was not an attempted terror attack but in fact a common crime why is this distinction so important well germany is still on high alert at the moment especially since the terror attack here in berlin last year that's just coming up to a year ago now and so really they don't want to cause any unnecessary. a lot and of course also the local authorities at the state authorities in britain of the very wary of using the word terror as well as we've seen before in other cases in germany people are very reluctant to mention that would obviously if something bad has happened on that in the uk yod they are worried sometimes that the finger is going to be pointed at them and that they've not perhaps been doing their job correctly ok so not a case of terrorism people can still go out to the christmas markets and have a great time. thank you for being with us in the studio. here's a look now some of the other stories making headlines around the globe
