a levy on each liter of fuel sold in kenya there is a libby going towards the repayment of that loan now this is more sophisticated banking than china has been known for they have got a fantastic return and they've got security they own and run and manage the whole thing but. there have been plenty of protests against the project the route passes directly through the nairobi national park and threatens the nature reserves existence but the protests have had little effect in kenya the chinese are pressing ahead and in uganda they're building another rail connection china's grand plan is to link the two countries with rwanda burundi and south sudan carving out a new trade network and new markets for chinese goods. and speaking of investment made in germany is still a hot label not only for consumers but also global corporations who come in to buy

companies and then know how the consultancy p.w. see says eight hundred seventy such deals went through in twenty seventeen more than half of those deals were done within the e.u. at a combined value of thirty billion euros another one hundred sixty eight deals came from north america mostly the united states. asian buyers stepped up ninety three times this past year investing over eight billion euros in german companies many of which are now under chinese management and smaller deals came in from south america as well as africa. and the outlook for german industry going into twenty eighteen is pretty rosy the german economic institute in cologne surveyed forty eight industry associations more than half of them expect the economic situation to improve dramatically only four percent of the groupings think demand in that sector will fall the survey also showed that many of the optimistic companies are already planning to hire new
