i work at the w. this is day eight of leaders live from berlin fury in the white house donald trump denounces his former chief strategist as insane and irrelevant the u.s. president reacting to reports that steve bannon described as treasonous a meeting between donald trump jr under russian noise during the presidential election campaign we'll take you live to washington also on the program. tens of

thousands take to the streets in a show of force all but government while the general in charge of the revolutionary guard declares an end to what he called the sedition. on the syrian borders waiting for their parents to join them in germany but how long will it take mom and dad to break out of your a cross of limbo in greece. i'm filled welcome to the program u.s. president donald trump past launched a scathing attack on his former chief strategist ahead of the release of a new less than flattering book in a statement to mr trump said that steve ballmer not only lost his job he also lost his mind just about in his closing quoted in the book as saying that donald trump jr's meeting in two thousand and sixteen with
8:02 pm
a group of russians was treasonous president trumps a lengthy statement to blame steve bartman for helping write what he calls a phony book. well this is a lot in the last few minutes let's go get go to washington and for more from our correspondent causton phenomena welcome coston president trump made these comments in a statement an official statement rather than one of his infamous tweets is a sign that he's worried by the contents of this book one of these chose that some of the people around him so worried about this whole discussion that they put their heads together and apparently came together to draft this official statement as you said normally donald trump would just shoot from the hip through his twitter accounts but this was an official white house statement sense to the correspondents of the white house who still the language of the statement
8:03 pm
was the sole drastic that i think it shows how any read on that from is the book has not been released yet so why is the president taking it so seriously why because it's been already been discussed all over the place here this new book by michael wolff of fire and fury because of course excerpts have been published and of course a few journalists also have read the whole book already and so on all the major news networks this book has been discussed and of course the detail in this book a not very flattering to donald trump and this whole campaign and the white house operation because it basically shows a trump team at constant war with its each other. mr trump and steve van and used to be close allies until bannon was fired why did they fall out . well there were
8:04 pm
a number of reasons i think one big reason was that donald trump didn't like the fact that steve benen was portrayed in many media outlets and books as the mosque the mind behind that surprising election win two thousand and sixteen and as the agrees in the white house so basically trump wants the spotlight it's for himself and he fired him also i think to maybe diffuse some of the tension in the white house as i said there were many reports not just in this book but before that there were many reports that there was constant infighting in the white house and so sending bannon packing was one way of cooling things down in the white house but the president kept contact with bennett because bennett is quite powerful still he is the head of breitbart and influential online portal and so they kept in touch but i think what really. broke this relationship was the fact that ben and probably
8:05 pm
convinced persuaded on the trump to back roy moore and then accused of sexual misconduct in the alabama senate race and roy will last of course and that senate seat went to the democrats and trump stood there as a loser who had backed the wrong candidate and now came out this book and a lot so a lot of quotes from steve bennett are not really flattering for trump and i think trump had enough. since being sacked steve benen did appear before this did appear to have been loyal to the trump course so this this latest falling out must be all the more dramatic for the us. yeah absolutely it is a major shift and we don't see how this works out i mean there is a civil war going on within the republican party the old establishment the old conservative establishment against a more nationalist populist wing which is of course led by the on the trump who has
8:06 pm
basically taken over the party and then does steve benen who is definitely one. of those people who want a more nationalist and more populist agenda still and he will continue to do that he will be supporting candidates to the very rights of the political spectrum in the upcoming midterm elections or the election process within the republican party before that so. yeah this is a major thing because now some parts of this nationalist movement might actually position against trump so we'll see how that works out in the two thousand and eighteen bits of elections custom phenomenon in washington thank you to ron that now and after nearly a week of rioting deaths and arrests on the streets the general in charge of the country's revolution because it has announced what he called the end of sedition general mohammad ali jafari declared that many of those arrested had received

training from counter revolutionaries and that firm action would be taken against them general jet fighters remarks came as iranian state media showed footage of pro-government rallies. now iran's leadership has also mobilize support thousands of demonstrators in abaza in southwestern iran took to the streets to show their support for the government protesters yelled death to the usa and death to israel state television show demonstrations like these taking place across the country posters of the ayatollah ali home and they are on display everywhere on tuesday the country's supreme leader blamed foreign powers for the unrest now his supporters are claiming they're ready to give their lives for him and some are calling for those who demonstrated against the government to be executed still anti-government protests continue some of them violently this footage shows a building going up in flames it allegedly belongs to the paramilitary revolutionary guard and is for one province meanwhile more than
8:08 pm
a thousand anti-government demonstrators have supposedly being jailed a government spokesperson has emphasized the more liberal message of president hassan rouhani saying legal protests are allowed but that those who break the law will be punished washington's u.n. ambassador has called for emergency security council talks we must not be felons the people of iran are crying out for freedom all freedom loving people must stand with their current state run media in iran has now focused its attention on pro-government rallies in the country rather than on the anti-government demonstrators. have paid correspondent and iran's capital tehran welcome to. we had bad general jafari has announced that the sedition has been defeated what does it look like from where you are. well aaron to ron it was pretty quiet overnight and we've seen a pretty heavy police presence and part of you revolutionary guards out on the

streets in the center of the city but for the most part it looks calm it does feel like the wind has come out of the sails of the protest movement today was really about the regime seizing back control of the narrative reasserting it sort already and getting these things under control and while we don't want to rule out the possibility that more protests or a smite flare up in the nights to come but now it does look like the other is that managed to get things under control and what effect have a today's pro-government demonstrations that had if any where yes this is part of the regime showing that if it wants to it can bring a huge number of people out into the streets in the these protests were impressive tens of thousands maybe more marching all over the country in different cities we've heard it's not confirmed yet that they'll be much in terror on tomorrow after
8:10 pm
friday prayers. despite what we hear from places like wash intimates are. that the regime is seriously under threat the fact remains that there is a very large swathe of society that is firmly behind that there is something rulers and that they can be called upon to show their support a very short notice and i want to act so all those pro-government protests genuine because i've been saying there are reports that the government employees for example have been ordered out onto the streets. sure we received some tweets going around saying look at these text messages text messages saying the people are being ordered out actually if you read what they say in farsi they tend to be an invitation quite polite invitation to come out certainly their government workers may feel some pressure to go to some of these marches and since these have been hurt and tear on we haven't been able to attend them we've got a better sense of that if they come sit around tomorrow but i've been on some of
8:11 pm
these marches in the past and the fact is that there are a lot of people a lot of people in iran who genuinely do support the regime change and whilst so you know it's a mix and it's always hard to tell but you don't want to count out the fact that there is a real cohort that fully support the islamic regime and if general jafari is correct and the unrest has been quelled what happens now the things just go back to the way they were no not at all i think this will shake up the political scene in a number of ways but it's hard to see how it's going to play out or president rouhani is going to have to change tack showed. about the economic problems the country faces and although these protests may be over the frustration and the anger that drove them initially is certainly not going away any time soon so dressing those problems is going to be a very big task in the coming weeks eric randolph into herat thank you.

reigniting refugees with their families is likely to be one of the more contentious issues and talks to try to reconstitute germany's coalition government the process is politically charged complicated and expensive and even if german authorities approved family reunions red tape in countries where refugees first arrive in europe such as italy or greece can prolong the wait so what does it mean for people caught in the middle who often see themselves as victims of broken promises. more yard and his younger brother abdul rahman like living in cologne their new home but they say they can only be truly content when the rest of their family joins them the two brothers traveled along the balkan route from syria and arrived in germany two summers ago they've been waiting for their parents to join them legally ever since. the people here told us it would only take about a month or two but two years have gone by in the meantime muata has been raising
