he tells us strange story. he makes a. smart. cookie. in the ocean in. his seat to every count on d w s. everyone welcome to another edition of euro max i'm your host meghan lee and it is good to be back in the studio with you know we've got a packed show so let's get right to it here's a look at what's coming up. in exposure how generation instagram
2:31 pm
is fueling a revival of the old school photography. going to design rising to the challenge of furnishing and a frame house. and double jeopardy why a pair of for back twins are inseparable at work. now there is a renaissance of sorts of mung us more and more young people are using products that perhaps their parents or even their grandparents once usenet record players cassette players roll film cameras and even polar polaroid cameras like this one are seeing a revival now it's hard to believe that with all this new technology at hand something like this is becoming a popular again i'm going to take a quick sophie to see. all right well camera manufacturers are taking advantage of this surprising development in photography so let's see now how the
2:32 pm
so-called generation instagram is driving this trend. hidden beneath this is alex she's not into modern technology she prefers. cameras this one is perfect for getting a panorama shot st every shot is a considered decision. i have the feeling that most people now only see the whole the day or whatever they're taking a picture all through a lens since i stopped doing that and consciously opted for analog photography i feel much better it's taken off the pressure. she takes pictures and also teaches others how to use the technology as well as how to develop the resulting photos her studio is in berlin's former east every week she meets up here with like minded photographers. what i like most is how the whole process is slow down you
2:33 pm
concentrate on what's essential and. it's not just a quick snapshot you can't see the result immediately and that's what's interesting . i'm fascinated by analog photography it feels real because it's physical. you can actually touch it. it's not something abstract. there's so much interest in analog photography that new cameras are now coming out on the market a london start up design the reflex the first new manual film camera in more than twenty five years other manufacturers are also trying their hand at instant cameras with a picture costing about a year apiece. polaroid which made its name with instant photography decades ago had gone bankrupt when polish businessman. bought it up he brought out a new camera last year with the hope of winning over the instagram generation. younger people are like wow this new thing is amazing yeah sure it was in the past
2:34 pm
but it's a new experience for them it's you know this photograph is a rare experience where you have some framing something happening outside of your smartphone that's interesting and i think this is the part that that the younger audience really appreciates where it's. kind of. amazing accuracy the speed of sharing of device instant photography shows across europe testify to it's resurging popularity the polaroid project at vienna's gallery showcases the works of some three hundred artists they include andy warhol and the photographer's gallery in london is showing previously unseen pictures by german filmmaker of him vendors he started using polaroids in the one nine hundred seventy s. . it was such a. light hearted. joyful thing he would give her away because it was

like the person or have more right to a person a picture of it was just. how to fly when you produce. but you could. almost reckless about the whole process. if subpoenas vintage devices break down she goes to. prove he repairs analog cameras in berlin he has many young customers who have grown up in the digital era. they sometimes turn up with an ancient box camera and want to know how it works and take a photo they're amazed that a decent photo emerges a digital camera is more for snapshots. by default you're taking kind of more meaningful moments only whereas on your on your phone and in your digital world you're taking a lot of photos and you're going to have to sort through it's more about what you put in and the way it kind of challenges you have to think outside the box.
2:36 pm
and others have to wait to see the results of the shot first they use chemicals to develop the film. and you just make sure you can find everything in the duck. then the negative is in large to projected onto a photographic paper. finally the image is fixed in another chemical bath. the icing on the cake what makes this also appealing are actually the imperfections the bits that are out of focus or a bit of fluff. every analog picture is a surprise whether taken with a roll of film or a polaroid camera generation instagram is rediscovering the magic of taking pictures in the real world something that it seems was almost forgotten.
2:37 pm
not bad but personally i think i will stick to my good old digital camera all right moving on now to some other trends in fashion and both plus an adorable panda that will make your heart melt all that coming up in today's express. fashion house show no girls are a breath of spring to paris said tuesday's show. sent out a romantic collection in pastoral colors with feathers and floral embellishments a celebration of the art toussaint craftsmanship in channels famous italian naga feld recreated a verdant garden to showcase his bucolic variations on staples tweets chiffon dress isn't evening well the shows wind up on thursday. the sports exhibition board is underway to some golf some nine hundred exhibitors have set up shop showcasing

a range of products from jet skis and towels boats to luxury yachts like this the ocean five meter model one emphasis this year is on digital features in boats this vessel's lights pumps and t.v. can all be digitally regulated there's a host of visitor activities on offer like surfing an official wave is the world's biggest trade fair for both ships and water sports drawing two hundred fifty thousand is that is a he. belgium's young panda got his own digs on tuesday the one and a half year old bear who lives in the pari dies as do outside brussels now has a nine hundred square meter enclosure all to himself. zookeepers made the move to separate town bow from his mother because he had started competing for their shared space. it looks like he was ready to set up his own path.
2:39 pm
and intelligent mr hart now are and i just want to refresh your memory before we move on to our next report last june a majority of the participating electorate in the u.k. voted to leave the e.u. in a referendum now brought. as that sent shock waves throughout europe it's also led to wild speculation about how it's going to impact the continent once it is carried out now while politicians in brussels argue about what rex it should look like one artist has already interpret ng his vision musically british music producer matthew herbert is against regs it and has channeled his anger into an art project now it's a work in progress just like brags that itself so let's have a listen. or on. her own.
2:40 pm
when brett's happened it was such a big shock and i felt i had to do some thing. to do you. see her and that something was music to accompany the doom and gloom of brax it matthew hubbard is now touring europe with his brags it big band of sixty five musicians. i want to create something that was also had some joy in it you know so much of broccoli is really boring and really. inspiring and idiotic and so i want to create something that was the opposite that i was i depending on where it's performing for bragg said big band always seeks out a regional choir to work with like this dutch ensemble for today's concert in
2:41 pm
brussels the band also encourages the audience to join em so we're going to the concert in london. with everyone to write a message for europe and make into paper airplane that's right at stage. and now we've got those messages i will throw them back to you guys so you can have and then you can write some messages to us and then throw them back so so that's one thing we have a message. i want these are mourning. for me i don't think it. about criticizing. people i think for me it's much more about criticizing the structures that surround decisions like this my book. matthew's criticism is expressed through all forms of music he sings composes and
2:42 pm
incorporates other people's sounds into the concerts. people can upload brax it sounds to his website with dissonant results. try to find a way beyond words where people could just. kind of make a sound. oh. oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh. oh oh oh oh oh. brooks itself it's chaos i mean it's total chaos. and everybody's panicking and everybody the people that want a public. and the people that lost the panic and the idea of the project is to try and follow the process. the bracks had big plans to tour to the end of march twenty ninth teen when brittany sheryl to leave the e.u.
2:43 pm
the brussels audience had mixed expectations i work for the european union so it's a big thing right now. i think it's a lose lose situation we we're here to see if we can be cheered up anything that's questions the recent ability of bricks is a good thing isn't it and. the stupidity of banks rather than a good thing if you go show columns that you shouldn't have any political expectations it should just be music music music. there's no joy at all in the government that we have got no imagination of them how can we make this world worse on her let's do this trying really hard to make it happen. and i don't want other people to think oh my friends in europe or
2:44 pm
strangers to that matter you're to think that's the only reason because britain is definitely like that but there's another bit as well which is not like that too which is about tolerance and compassion and love and imagination. switching gears now to get a sneak peek into someone's humble abode in today we are heading to a pyramid but this one isn't in egypt but rather in norway and as we will see the owner has come up with some unique ways for creating space among slanted walls. a pyramid in norway over ten meters high this house is located in the city of christiane's on in the south of the country. how welcome to param it this is my home and also my art gallery come and.
2:45 pm
be artist because to lorna her husband and their two children live in a space that is true hundred and forty square metres in size and boasts eighteen rooms. one day a week they open their doors to visit is. there to lorna has lived here for about seven years it took her a while to get used to the on usual slanting space. all the walls. are sloping so we haven't got much walls are. so that is something of a challenge when you are having clothes. you wear to. and also wear when i run having furniture you have to think about at night this sentiment a straight wall and constant sloping war. she's made
2:46 pm
a virtue of mississippi rather than storing clothes in a closet she's opted for drawers. rather than concealing problems so in such a corner she decorates them. in the carriage at the top of the pyramid visitors have to sit on the floor too few took pictures. it's more important to. let the sloping walls stand forward and be spoken walls than pretend they are there so i try to put my furniture in the house . showing the sloping walls and maybe use a low furniture no deeper to the ground and also having a lot of space. in the grown so not to money thought it sure. to be

a turd loves combining phone riches styles from different periods. she's arranged mid century finds alongside antiques like this two century old wood cupboard. the pyramids middle story has a sleek retro feel bitter has deliberately incorporated round accents to offset all the right angles. this house is square shaped. and the roof is proof with out where the symmetrical shape so there are all. lines and square face everywhere so i think to play more and to my looks softer i try to mix in around shapes. the editor has painted all the walls

white to brighten the space and lighten the mood. she also had twenty skylights installed in the roof. to lay she more light she's passed on curtains. the unrestrained views outdoors has an added advantage when it rains it can it can hear and you can see the rain falling when it snows we feel like we're living in a glow because their windows are covered with snow. and it's so coasts and when the leaves fall off the trees in the wind. the windows are almost covered with leaves so you get the nights are right on here and it's wonderful. a watchful ferrule ensures that everything stays wonderful.
2:49 pm
you have to lorna is so pleased with the pyramids that she's now building another one which will be her studio in the god. thank you so much for everything me and my house and welcome back. in this week series we've been looking into dynamic sets of twins who have gained success or even fame by implementing their creative ideas together well today the miller twins are in focus now they have capitalized on their striking likeness by becoming ariel after about that of course in this profession being in sync is a must. this is diana and this is my five minute older twin sister sandra.
2:50 pm
because themselves the millet wins i'm still can't get over their similarities. it's scary how similar we think how similar we are i've often asked myself how this can be considering the fact that we really are two completely different people i want to see the share pass the ones that are different but with the same genetic material exactly like two characters more or less. two characters who form one attraction people often think that they are exactly the same a cliche that has its advantages and we exploited a bit especially for work. the middle twins have made a name for themselves by playing up there by catching similarities instead of their differences their double act is increasingly popular. they always take precautions before their performances they both trained to be
2:51 pm
professional dancers but are also expert acrobats they integrate the surroundings into their act and like most twins they can communicate without having to say much at all. as mentioned even as kids when we started playing piano with four hands things were clear without us needing to talk and we rely on that a lot today yes we've always done that i'm always on the left she's always on the right and i'm left handed and she's right handed we're automatically mirror image when. they're rehearsing for a performance at the opening of a new venue up above the roofs of munich sundries to the left of the drama while diana is on the right that's the way it always is and always hanging from a tall building. with them a tongue of ice and we've traveled around the world doing this act and we've been on the highest buildings of the world from bush khalifa in dubai to the rockefeller

center in new york. and on top of that our troops are usually. paid for suv right so of course it's perfect travel action and passion to. something special something special yes it gives us a rush it really is something special when you can see everything from above and you can also get to places that others don't necessarily get to. like to the top of skyscrapers across the world these twins have cut out a niche market for themselves. we've loved it from the very beginning exactly then and eventually you get addicted you get a real adrenaline rush and at some point you love adrenaline. when they
2:53 pm
work out a new act they try to use a few words as possible improvising as one but they don't do everything the same way one might be better than the other at something it's good trying somehow to she developed there are some differences and now one of us is taking care of the financial side of our work more that would be me oh. yeah she's the finance minister and i i know things down in the house yes she does the organizing and i do all the financial stuff. until recently the two sisters still live together even though diana is married and sandra has a boyfriend but they knew that this situation couldn't last forever. as. we've always known that we wanted to have our own families and didn't want to spend our whole lives together as twins. we really wanted to lead separate lives with their own husbands and children and everything. so finally they
2:54 pm
moved in with their respective partners. separating from one another was easier than they expected so if you feel a bit freer it's true right you don't always have someone stuck to you and you don't have to talk about everything or be so considerate the whole time not having to talk about everything is something we consider an advantage of being single. now that they no longer live together they've discovered more differences in their personalities but there is one thing they both think is great about their sisterhood. we can decide whether to be together or not but we know that there is always someone there if we need the one who we can rely on one hundred percent exactly it's not easy to find a person you can rely on just anywhere. in their current line of work they need to be able to rely on each other one hundred percent true. but they're ok with not
2:55 pm
doing everything together in future. in mind our slogan is to do as much together as possible and as much a part as necessary that's how i see it too. the minutes when saw so many choose with each other that it's difficult to believe that they're live or go their separate ways. and before we go we want to remind you of this week's contest now we would like to know if there are any famous or successful twins in your country just by this know by going to our website where you will find all the details and with that we are out of time well as always for me and the crew here at euro max thanks for tuning in. next edition of. a camel hold a made of ginger and a great find comprised of glass marble sauna in the bag has made a name as one of europe's leading illustrators though she works most with paper had
