day eleven of coalition talks and the day is not going to be easy health employment and foreign policy are still three major hurdles to overcome nonetheless today they're hoping to finally seal the deal of. all this is about the quality of life for the people and about being a successful business location every single one of us will have to make painful compromises so i am willing to do that if we can assure that in the end vantages will outweigh the disadvantages. and through the nothing. it's manacles last push to clinch an agreement on a new grand coalition the deal is supposed to end months of political limbo and europe's top economy. it's reading those letters about is nothing less than and forming a stable lasting government in one of the largest industrialized countries in the world that meets the challenge us both internationally and nationally.
4:03 pm
and not only the world is waiting for germany to get its act together closer to home in germany's bundestag the parliament is also eager to discuss the upcoming legislative agenda. all right and for more let's go to our chief political correspondent linda crane who is outside the city you headquarters here in berlin melinda behind you the talks are still underway it's starting to feel like groundhog day but i'm going to ask the same question like i asked you yesterday is the end in sight. the end absolutely is in sight we are hearing from members of the negotiating teams that in fact this is make or break day the parties had given themselves essentially to buffer days two days of overtime and today is day two but we're also hearing it could go along today it could go deep into the night at the moment they're still negotiating with their smaller advance team. if they make substantial headway they will then call in the larger team that is a ninety member team that essentially then puts the dots on the i's and it's seal on
4:04 pm
the fine print that team that larger team was supposed to be on standby as of now we have seen some activity here in the last fifteen minutes some large limousines driving up and depositing various politicians at the door so possibly that is a sign but it could indeed be a long night and just one word by the way on the amount of time that the negotiators have taken a leavened days so far frankly that is actually pretty quick to get one hundred sixty page coalition agreement up and and into place the fact is those months of limbo that were mentioned in the report they were largely taken up by the failed negate goshi between other parties and the chancellors conservatives as we know those didn't succeed there is still some optimism here that these talks today will succeed all right and to succeed they will have to reach compromises one wants
4:05 pm
those hurdles are taken to what's next. well next up if they do reach an agreement today is that it would be presented formally to the public most likely tomorrow morning unless it really happens very very soon after that a very critical hurdle still has to be surmounted and that is the vote by the entire party membership of the social democrats that was a condition they put on opening talks at all as you'll remember as many of our viewers will remember the s.p.d. were very very reluctant after seeing a significant loss of support in september selection very reluctant to even consider entering a grand coalition again with the conservatives they feel essentially that they. their profile that that cost them a lot of support so one of the conditions that was put on participation was that
4:06 pm
a vote be taken by the full party membership that could take as long as four weeks and it's quite possible that it won't go through all right well in the crate our chief political correspondent monitoring the situation for us outside the city you h.q. in berlin thank you for your continued coverage. we're going to head state site now because the new york stock exchange opened one percent down today then bounce back suggesting relief could be on the way for equities. two days of dramatic losses on wall street have sparked a global sell off investors are worried this could be the start of a new stock market crash but analysts point to a healthy correction after such a long rally for stocks one reason for the volatility are concerns central banks could start winding down the era of cheap money more quickly then thought while the dow is now up by about one percent. a power struggle in the popular holiday
