electric company a very special car race she's about to test their limits in a twenty or so our electric car with vintage vehicle appeal the race will take her through the mountains of new york on. this i think i just flipped a little switch in my head and decided just before the race not to be afraid not to set my fear aside and just put the pedal to the metal to. mark his copilot charlie bosch constructed a lark and gives her a few tips. good theory says one hundred twenty kilometers an hour but we won't go that fast will we could we could if we're daring enough what you can do we can go one hundred twenty clicks and i'll. back can i tell if the cause already started it already is a good business so i can just drive off. today charlie bosch is built six

it's the start of the first stage a time trial on the stretch of road in the mountains although michael as a minute said start on your to the really driver is close to catching up near the finish line. with a couple of catch on to them i've got to step on the gas that bit it cost them again before the finish line so they know who's boss. yours is the clear winner in this first stage of the loric electric cup but the women's racing fever quickly clear the cars batteries. and will take an hour to recharge them. racing electric cars also has its relaxing moments so the drivers use this force great to look around by their most as old town and get to know each other a little better over a cup of coffee. but once they're back on the road they're rivals again in the second stage the aim is to achieve an average speed of exactly fifty kilometers per hour so there's not quite such an adrenaline

rush and suddenly michael kroger discovers the joys of driving and all the electrical. it's really very very different how does that i don't have that knowing also you notice a lot about your natural surroundings and the smells you smell the herbes you hear the birds chirping. the second stage ends up being a time between the two women. now it's time for the final stage this time that when it will be the first person to reach the finish two hundred kilometers away on a single charge so the competitors will have to drive in an energy saving passion. because i mean this is a really nice way to drive anything else is just stressful i'm not an adrenaline junkie so now it's mainly about average driving and i'm an average driver so i think i stand a good chance against it because she's bound to have a heavy foot this evolves. and just before the finish your turkey line troops

ice beach snow hill climbing contest took place. last weekend some two hundred fifty participants try to conquer a steep steep slope on them motorcycles as they trying to reach the top as fast as possible. because. some people write mortal cycles as a hobby others like to make music but hobbies need time anyone with things in a quiet for example has to rehearse regularly except in the german city of new nick if you like singing but simply don't have the time to become a permanent choir member the project goes in choir is just the thing for you completing a choir is created every month let's have a listen. the singers order actually acquired. their lonely perform together

this one evening. in just under two hours they learned to sing their version of the hit song creep by radiohead in three part harmony despite what's really cool is that there are only people you don't know but there is a moment in the song when you look at complete strangers and you will feel the same thing. gives you goosebumps it's like a wave washes over you and you think yeah this is it this is amazing. indie rock tunes in top twenty it's this is no church choir. the go sing choir is no run of the mill choral group and it's not bound by any rules. so what is the idea behind this munich based project. or pay. someone from. in the beginning we come up with a song to sing for them to come to we announce what it is so that people can listen
2:41 pm
to it. i'm a creep in this case we chose creep. on monday but then we need to make an arrangement of the song that works for a large choir for. you but there are so many pages that most people wouldn't get through it. especially if they can't read music we're trying to kind of you study group of one hundred years and come up with this in life that is so in order to make things a little bit easier there are a lyric sheets with colors on the sections that repeat i'm standing there so people see the colors and realize oh i don't have to learn something brand new will just repeat what i sang before that's you know one of the four someone whose own home. shows the choir the pitches with his hands after going through a half robot dance. they sing the song in double time.
2:42 pm
that way the sequence of notes is repeated more often and becomes ingrained in the memory. after drilling a song for two hours they record a video with multiple cameras like sweet dreams by british pop duo eurythmics. or the pixies anthem where is my mind. as a filmmaker need does the editing himself a few days after the rehearsal the video is posted on line. but it was on your comment cast an old enjoy singing in the choir for them the eight year old participation fee is well worth it. let's give it a try we'll start with you guys. and. the

others come in. by the end of the evening they know the song inside into. the three part harmony is in tune. in fitful south as we go home exhausted but with huge grins on our faces. we're still immersed in the music and get goose bumps all over again. not bad for a choir a good isn't really quite enough the. tube . perhaps the go sing choir doesn't make the crowd for all.

start at the checkpoint charlie museum today as a favorite hotspot for tourists but when germany was divided to the border points served as one of the few crossing points between east and west berlin during the cold war excavating from the communist east was the only option for most east germans seeking to live in the west that is because very few were allowed to travel freely today some of these very personal stories can still be folland and the checkpoint charlie museum. during the cold war checkpoint charlie was the best known border crossing between east and west berlin today it's one of the german capital's biggest tourist attractions after world war two the four wartime allies divided up the city this was a gateway between the american and soviet sectors checkpoint charlie museum was opened in one nine hundred sixty two a year after the wall was built and documented the walls impact on people's lives
2:51 pm
and how it eventually fell. in this war hero state if this museum stands for freedom that's the main point from the very beginning of the museum has been an expression of precious to gainst the wall. the mission statement was we want freedom in unity. and i hope. visitors from all over the world come to learn about the extremes people went to to cross the border and the tragedies of failed attempts. sixty thousand automatic spring guns were installed on the inner german border any movement and they automatically fired shrapnel and soldiers had orders to shoot anyone in the death strip escaping the east meant risking your life. the museum is still in touch with many of the surviving escapees among them there are

doing a broad freeze up someone helped her leave east berlin by giving her a swiss passport wearing a real fur coat and acting the part she tricked her way through passport control if she'd been caught she'd have gone to prison. if i kept it as if she didn't really check me properly now she gave me a bit of a jet she looked like she thought i was an arrogant swiss person then i realized oh right i'm not a nice the letter anymore so i lifted my nose even higher in the air. put on at least lynas didn't swagger like that they thought i must be a real swiss woman. one of the most spectacular escapes happened in one thousand nine hundred eighty nine in a homemade hot air balloon two couples and four children survived a half hour flight from east germany to bavaria they painstakingly stitched the balloon together from pieces of waterproof material that collected from many sources. only

a few pieces of the berlin wall remain including this section at the berlin wall memorial. when it was still standing the death strip separated east and west friends and families. the founder of the checkpoint charlie museum by negative rant was an anti nazi resistance fighter. who le bron's widow says he helped reporters with their work during the cold war. the good boy that is that there was a building across the street that was in ruins from the war up the store so that's a photographer there fell and seriously injured himself when my husband heard about it he brought all the people here instead the room was warm and dry and they went in danger they could sit and watch what was happening at checkpoint charlie through the window and respond to it they took photos andrew reports that. in

these rooms ryan are going to plan to continue to document what happened on the border between east and west even while the wall was standing people brought him objects they'd used to help them escape like this mining car. they used to build a tunnel when fifty seven people were able to flee to west berlin the museum now attracts around eight hundred fifty thousand visitors a year. we just know the walls so but in this exhibition you can see many things and many real objects and many stories and first impressed me something about this if they think they succeeded to make it will i thought it it couldn't be thought about so we have seen that. the vehicles were indeed prepared for all eventualities like this car with steel panels to protect against gunfire. the museum shows the suffering of the communist
