this is g w news live from berlin ratcheting up the tensions with russia british foreign minister boris johnson directly blames the russian president vladimir putin for ordering the nerve agent attack on former double agent surrogate screwball look at the latest reaction. also coming out. one of the biggest german i.p.o.'s in decades that even been something medical equipment division.
2:01 pm
i'm sumi so misconduct to have you with us another salvo fired in the standoff between russia and western allies over the poisoning of former double agent circus cripple in britain and comments made a short while ago british foreign secretary boris johnson said it is likely that russian president vladimir putin personally made the decision to carry out the nerve agent attack let's listen to what he had to say all quarrel is with putin's crimean and with his decision and we think it overwhelmingly likely that it was his decision to direct the use of a nerve agent on the streets of the u.k. on the streets of europe for the first time since the second world war that is that is why we are at odds with russia. all right let's get more on this latest development we have our correspondent to emily sure when standing by for us in moscow and in london journalist josh bloom good to see you both josh let's start
2:02 pm
with you boris johnson saying it is overwhelmingly likely that vladimir putin himself ordered the use of a nerve agent what could his proof be here. i think is the likelihood of what this is and has come from it's incredibly rare it was in ninety six anywhere outside of nation states and the chances of someone acquiring the black market. and sharing a house it's without the knowledge of russia seems incredibly on why you know sometimes continuous months old and evidence can continues to kind of that most of the major nations of the un are coming out i mean you can't miss one seems to point to that it's pretty much proves that russia has a very major part player ok still it is a very strong accusation and really have there been any reactions from the kremlin . yes there has been the reaction now the kremlin has called these accusations shocking and inexcusable and of course they are very serious accusations considering the fact that the investigation into this incident
2:03 pm
is very much still ongoing there hasn't really actually been any direct proof as far as we know at least publicly that shows one hundred percent that russia the russian state at least is behind this poisoning of city. and russia has also continuously taken the stance of denying all the accusations and we have seen also kind of a war of words that is escalating we've seen a lot of loud statements from britain particularly today. the british ministry of defense minister of defense rather said that russia should go away and shut up and in a way this these statements that are being made from the british side are kind of playing into the russian hand today said that the minister of defense is clearly not educated he's called several times on britain to stick to diplomatic protocol
2:04 pm
so russia can really use these statements to portray britain as very much hot headed and not sticking to the facts josh as the kremlin says that its next retaliatory steps could come any minute hasn't said what those steps would be but what additional measures could we see britain take. it's hard to know that right now i think you've already seen that twenty three knots is going to russia i think also it will cost cutting out some of that could be a key point to the obvious they also. will russia clearly and i think you'll see it also begin to sneak in a. new government people who rule out of that spoil consummated and try to send a strong this is not insensible to the it's a very challenging moment as he said because i think a lot of the ukrainian want to make sure they are in their criticism of russia but at the same songs michel that maybe that's not a war once that continues. and what you said that the kremlin has been able to
2:05 pm
portray britain as hot headed here we've also seen western allies line up behind britain how is that played into the kremlin's narrative especially head of elections this weekend while in the run up to the election the count pain rhetoric very much has been that russia is strong in the face of adversity despite all the accusations that are being leveled at it including the accusations of state sponsored doping of of widespread hacking and so in a way this whole story fits in with the russian narrative at the moment in the run up to the election of this all being an anti russian campaign that the west is waging against russia but on the other hand i sort of feel like it doesn't make sense ahead of the elections because they could they were using this rhetoric anyway let me put it is currently polling at around seventy percent so he looks likely to win anyway so why rock the boat so significantly especially ahead of the

upcoming world cup where russia certainly wants to put its best foot forward all right emily sure when in moscow josh bloom in london thank you both. now to some other stories making news around the world an independent monitoring group says russian air strikes have killed at least forty six people in eastern guta this as more civilians flee the rebel held areas outside of the capital damascus a russia says more than four thousand people have left on friday russia and syria launched an offensive on the region in february north korea's foreign minister is in sweden the visit is prompting speculation that he might be laying the groundwork for a summit between u.s. president donald trump and north korea's kim jong il and sweden has been mentioned as a possible venue for the meeting between the two leaders police in miami say the death toll from yesterday's bridge collapse could rise so far they have confirmed six

peace time and the government promised to pour some of the profits back into development projects but the villagers who found the precious stone say that has not happened due to his entering creech has this exclusive report. foreheads traveled for an hour through the jungle of sierra leone and the move wanted to show us the mine that is known the world over and the head of the nearby village one year ago diggers found a huge diamant the so-called peace diamant and the more himself held it in his own hands. stay put it was i was so happy we all where the diamond was so big and the people here were happy because they thought now we'll see some. seven hundred and nine carats no one had ever seen a diamond that large five diggers walking for pastore were the ones to find it
2:11 pm
first the pastor brought the diamond to the district chief then together they personally delivered the diamonds to the president of sierra leone this was rare usually diamants us smuggled out of the region in december there was an auction in new york that raised six point five million dollars forty percent should go to the past or sixty percent to the government the government promised to spend part of the money to support the village and the district. the diamond was quickly labeled peacetime and because it was supposed to be a game changer changing the way things work here instead of a few people who get the profits from the diamond the whole community was supposed to benefits but things turned out the other way. back in the village there's no electricity no hospital not even a paved street one of the three teachers in the village show us the school where two hundred children are taught this is just it is not it is not
2:12 pm
a school this is just a part of the young not even a school building look at it that's supposed to be a school as long as we are living in conditions like this that diamond shouldn't leave the country they'll have a great time in america with a diamond but what about. god should punish you all. younger more the village head shows us where the new school was supposed to be built but there's nothing to see no construction no development but the pastor and the chief the traditional leader here in the region promised progress they told us to find a piece of land and clear it in the name of the government but we haven't heard from them since we did that. in the provincial capital we were able to interview the chief he's on the government payroll he assures us though that he has not received any money from the diamond but he is certain the government will invest one million dollars in the region patients is required. reason to give all hope
2:13 pm
right now. to go to law. shows like this for example the body in the office. and so on and so forth but i reason to believe that. in sierra leone's capital freetown we tried to interview government officials but no one would speak to us we were unable to get in touch with the pastor as well apparently he has built for a hospice in the meantime. in korea do they're still waiting waiting for school for electricity for a medical clinic they are waiting for justice and hoping a new diamond will surface some time soon for temperature soccer and the draw for the champions league for
