happened that. it was approximately twenty minutes parts eleven on sunday when the countess postum aunt was arrested here in the northern part of germany approximately forty kilometers far away from the tender spot and afterwards he was brought to this small police station right behind me in the village of sooty and she he was holed for several hours of a few hours and she was treated where we very well and he told us it seems to be that the family's off got alone you know was arrested as a service area yet the motor highway a seven year old son in the northern part of germany we don't know if that was a coincidence or if it was planned to arrest him after he entered germany but what we know is when the police officers control to him they had to arrest him because of the european warrant we either know don't know if he was in company but we know

where he's no i leave that to you say that he has been very nice or rather been moved from that particular police station so where is he now and what happens to push on one next. what he was brought to the prison often on moonstruck proximately thirty kilometers far away from here and it seems to be that he spends the night over there afterwards on monday you would be brought to school be it to the prosecution and over there would decide if he would x. would date to the spend as authorities in the week of whatever we don't know exactly if it will be and depends on the appointment tomorrow on monday alexander and so thank you for joining us. and i'm now joined in studio by a correspondent who's been following this story for a really long time thanks for joining us so the question on everyone's mind right now seems to be why now i mean put someone has spent five months in brussels is

travel to various countries across europe but he's only been detained now well it's sort of a very long and complex process but just to sort of sum up essentially on friday judge yet in a who's been in charge of this in spain decided to reactivate the international at the european wide arrest warrant and this also came on the same day that other leaders of the cutline independence movement were arrested and detained they're now in prison in spain because they were a flight risk. i mean this wasn't because this was an. official statement from the spanish government but there was a lot of talk in spain that they've been angered by the movement of push them on around europe and the century going to finland for example for example did the spanish government so it doesn't come as a shock that now he's been detained in germany now there was also one issue when he was in belgium originally five months ago there was an international arrest warrant
6:05 pm
for him belgium doesn't have in its penal code one of the charges which is being brought against it was pushing one which is rebellion now germany on the other hand does have a similar charge which is high treason what was decided was that they wouldn't proceed in belgium with the charges because it was going to send the turn into a big legal battle so what happened was the international arrest warrant was suspended and now it's been reactivated this isn't obviously one hundred percent official but this is what's being said in the spanish media that has been reactivated because of the end the day in germany would be essentially easier for them on to be charged and extradited back to spain i spoke to a legal expert it will take between eighteen and fourteen days on average if he is actually charged in germ. and the extradition order is put into place so two days after this arrest warrant is reactivated put on is detained what happens now if
6:06 pm
he's handed over to spanish authorities well like i said on friday you know the other leaders in the catalan independence movement are now in prison there's nine of them now in prison and you know we could end up seeing if you go back to spain he will more than likely be in prison with the with the rest of the leaders for this push for independence that we saw at the end of two thousand and seventeen waiting for waiting their trial the reaction in catalonia of course there's been a lot of anger and it's this is a very you know a subject that has divided the region of catalonia and spain in many matter in many ways because it's you know there are government party there are parties in the spanish parliament who are very much against things have gone. up rather the proceedings go in a different direction so it's very divisive i just want to draw your attention to your screens right now with seeing life pictures everywhere and i believe they'll be back in
6:07 pm
a screenshot here where protests the kind on going on and i think this was widely expected but of course as you've mentioned almost the entire leadership of the pro separatist movement behind what happens to that moment well that's the million dollar question like we're seeing i mean the sentiment is still very much there and i mean we're seeing these images i believe from barcelona i was watching regional television and there are images of protests taking place across the region of catalonia and i don't think that's going to be the end of those protests by any means in fact if anything i'd say we're going to see sort of every activation of this movement that we saw at the end of twenty seventeen it's not a subject that has gone away in spain internationally speaking perhaps it hasn't been at the forefront of news will say over the past few months in spain it's pretty much anything. anything that people can really talk about. it's a very complicated situation at the moment because what is trying century is taking place in catalonia is there is no government in the region of catalonia at the
6:08 pm
moment all the powers. that the spanish central government have with regards to the region. are related directly to the fact that in catalonia there is no regional government in place in order for power to be handed back to the region they need a government so sort of a chicken and egg situation here what the most likely outcome of what we're seeing at the moment with the arrest of the leaders is that we'll probably see a new round of elections in catalonia in the next couple of months because there is a time limit on this and if that takes place once again there will probably be a political deadlock because at the end of the day the sentiment has not gone away and there is a very very very stark divide between those in favor of this movement and those who are in favor of remaining in spain so. yes a very complicated affair indeed but thank you for breaking it down for us thank

back and expect another easy victory for the defending world champion. but that all changed midway through the race when sebastian vettel pitted during a virtual safety car face those on track to force to slow down because of a broken down car but vettel was not affected by the restriction in the pits and emerged in front of hamilton's mercedes. the german then pushed his ferrari hard and managed to fight off the britain for the rest of the race to seal a forty eight group three win and one hundred podium in his two hundred f one race . that was euphoria at the surprise triumph was visible for all to see. but hamilton was left to look on the bright side we still have great pace of course i was great at things in the race i was able to apply some pressure at the end vettel admitted he didn't look easy i was praying for so and then when i saw it obviously you know it was really full of adrenaline even though you know the race
