kind of treatment can he expect from spanish authorities. he can expect to meet and it would be put in preventive custody and then it could be a long wait spanish justice moves extremely slowly he will be held in custody for up to two years before the words trial and i think that image or government hopes that during this period everything will just they will kind of just smoke of the whole issue but i think this is misguided because it is a political issue it's not about to go away and imprisoning the leaders will not solve the problem. alexander stephen thank you both very much correspond xander drexel there talking to us in barcelona or rather in munster and stephen bergen in marsala thanks both of you very much course we keeping our viewers up to date on the story as it develops. now some other stories making headlines around the world today adult film star stormy daniels says she was threatened to keep silent about

managed to strike that a deal with washington which accents it from u.s. steel tariffs germany's economics minister i believe is looking at a similar way to avoid u.s. steel tariffs. yeah exactly well the deal between the u.s. and south korea also means that u.s. car companies will be able to export the double amount of u.s. cars to south korea without paying terrorists as well and yes peter as my you just mentioned the new german economy minister seems to be in favor of a similar compromise as well others are saying that this would not be the right way to do it and that could give donald trump a signal that his a very protective actions would be already accepted as my also stated today that germany can not negotiate as a country all those negotiations about tears and also about possible compromises will be done on the european level but yes the pressure is certainly on those

a second term the incumbent president is facing no real competition with his only challenger being one of his supporters now authorities hope enough voters will turn out to lend the election some credibility. his victory may be assured but abdel fattah el-sisi needs the numbers to consolidate his authority with nearly sixty million eligible voters the former general is hoping his supporters will march to the polling stations and there's plenty of praise for the incumbent. police everyone who vote for president. of great success for example he's building a new administrative capital. there is one rival candidate. he's not a household name and perhaps surprisingly he himself admits that he admires.

percent of the egyptian population now i previously spoke to one coptic. vote today who said that they voted to c.c. in twenty fourteen and they won't be voting for him again because they felt that the outcome sets in. but i also spoke to a coptic go to the polls today who said that you know she felt that she had to turn out to vote and it was important to show her support sisi and also for the country which is the message that sisi has pledged not just to his supporters but to the entire electorate. just looking back a little bit the former president hosni mubarak he was also at the height of the arab spring in two thousand and eleven egyptians then elected the candidate from the muslim brotherhood mohamed morsi he was affectively forced out of office by so you see how well represented are more of these former supporters in these elections . not very well representative told given that the muslim brotherhood is now
12:23 pm
classified as a terrorist organization in egypt it's probably fair to say that most brotherhood supporters to staying at home and not going to the polls at the very least there are large parts of the missing brotherhood who have either been expressed or who are in exile people with a kind of religious motivation to voting and not very well represented in this elections but at the same time it's kind of mainstream liberal voters and we've seen some opposition figures who are not religious in any sense in any public sense of the word asking people to stay home and so that seems to be a sizable part of the electorate being represented there to. it's been seven years now since hosni mubarak left office he was considered a very authoritarian leader then came the arab spring and now here we are is any

different now than it was but seven years ago. well there are critics who say that actually things should be less than a barak mubarak at the end of his tenure had he did allow some space for limited political freedoms and you know there were members in this in brotherhood in tone for example. but now you know there are critics of sisi school you say that the level of human rights at least eleven politically expression the level of crete specially. when it was under mubarak there are also concerns among a lot of egyptians vote is about me going to me and die as states egypt's finances and how this affects the poorest and it's not uncommon to hear people who are very will say well he gave up our rights so that sisi at least. the economy and that hasn't happened so we're not sure how we got to this point. thank you so much
12:25 pm
correspondent ruth michael's on there talking to us from cairo. now to sierra leone and an exclusive interview the main opposition leader there vying for the presidency has told e.w. he will call people to action if a runoff election in sierra leone is postponed due to his motto by zero one the first voting round earlier this month but failed to receive a high enough majority to win out right at the presidential runoff poll is scheduled for tuesday but the election will only move forward if it's given the green light by sierra leone's high court members of the ruling a p c party say election fraud has interfered on sunday supporters of the old took to the streets in freetown ahead of the court's decision not to be you know says his supporters will publicly object if the court rules to delay tuesday's vote through and we all said we've been preparing for this for the past five years
