more on this story we're joined by our political correspondent han's blonde from our parliamentary studios and by reporter pablo foley ileus who's covering this story for us here in our studio let's start with you hons on what grounds the german prosecutors want to have pushed him out extradited to spain. well there is a european warrant of arrest all to approach the moment and this gives two reasons for why he should be extradited to spain one is sedition or rebellion the other is the misuse of public funds the german prosecutor had to decide whether there was an equivalent. equivalence in german law to these two charges and the prosecutor now decided that there was indeed such an equivalence in other words puts him on would also be liable for charges in germany for these things and has now applied for puts them on three moneths in custody pending

extradition and also for this extradition in fact to be executed pablo extradition is becoming more real possibility for pushed him up if he is extradited what can we expect to happen in spain let's not forget that these charges are incredibly serious i mean which of man could be facing up to thirty years in prison we've already seen that other members former members of his government which were part of the regional governments of the late last year are in different prisons in spain so he will more than likely be extradited be extradited to madrid he won't go to barcelona more than the highest probability and then there will be of course a trial which will happen most likely in the supreme court in detroit as well and he's facing like i said up to thirty years in prison and the reaction in catalonia
11:04 am
and from his supporters has been one of. was there last week i spoke to many people from different different sides of this issue and there isn't a very stark division between those in favor of proceeding with these charges against them on and those against which is quite worrying for people particularly in catalonia and in fact across spain that's for sure hans there is obviously a huge political dimension to this story. could the german government did end up getting involved in the matter. strictly speaking on the legal basis there is a possibility in extradition rule for the german government to decide that there is political there are political reasons behind the extradition that was applied for and for that reason the german government could involve could get involved but in fact the german government has already decided that it will not interfere in the traditional process that it would allow the courts to actually decide whether or
11:05 am
not the extradition will go through or not and it will not. intervene on political grounds that's partly to do obviously with the fact that spain is a close ally in the european union and germany does not want to will get involved in domestic affairs in spain on the other hand the judicial process that we're talking about the court case that is now going to start can still take quite a long time it's conceivable that the court might one further documents from spain for instance so it's not decided that this extradition will actually happen in a very brief period of time but it seems likely that pushed him on will spend his time in prison until the decision is taken the public the catalonian parliament understand is meeting today this news is very fresh it just just hit the news wires is there any reaction yet from catalonia from the parliament there where well just in the past few minutes because of just keeping an eye on what's been going on
11:06 am
they've agreed that they will now delegate the former president vote because it's not forget that he is a member of the parliament so now his vote will be passed on to somebody else within the catalan regional parliament and also the courts in madrid this is the other big news in spain are going to be. basically cracking down hard to put it in a sort of very blunt way on the committees of the defense of the republic of congo loney of these of these groups that have been organizing a lot of the protests that we've seen in catalonia in recent weeks as such as like the blockades on the motorways on the roads and train stations. in previous weeks in support of the switch on and the other at parliamentarians who are in prison in spain. thank you publish. here in our studio and of course hands upon from our parliamentary studios thank you both very much and of course we'll bring you any new developments on this story as they become available and let's take
