fourteen soldiers now the u.s. is denying carrying out a strike this falls a suspected poison gas attack on the city of duma which killed at least forty civilians now the syrian regime and its allies deny carrying out that attack the u.s. meanwhile has warned damascus it would pay a big price if the allegations prove correct. these pictures appear to show as strikes on the town of duma in eastern. it's the last remaining rebel stronghold following a relentless russian backed onslaught on the region which began in february the white helmets volunteer rescue groups say at least forty people including many children were specs yates in the chemical attack. is on the regime continues the intense and violent shelling barrel bombs were dropped by helicopters carrying poisonous substances. until now paramedics haven't been able to enter

because of the continuous shelling the regime is trying to wipe out this area. syria denies its government forces launched any chemical assaults nonetheless international condemnation has been swift and blunt. u.s. president donald trump took to twitter blaming russia and iran for supporting syria and describing its president bashar assad as an animal in rome pope francis during mass and simply to square denounce the attackers unjustifiable. we pray for all the dead for the wounded for the families who suffer. there is no good war and bad war. and nothing nothing can justify the use of such instruments of violence against people and unarmed populations. the syrian army released pictures which it says showed troops

moving towards to the army dismissed claims of the gas attack is fabrications the military insists it's advancing rapidly and does not need chemical weapons. and joining us now in the studios marcus time from the german institute for international and security affairs a building based think tank morning marketing nice to see you again the syrian government says it is not involved in this chemical attack do we have any evidence pointing to who may be behind it i mean we do not have an official explanation because we do not have free journalists on the ground the area is not accessible to journalists so we don't know really what happened that evening but given the last couple of years and the earlier chemical weapons attacks it's highly likely that it was the syrian government as it has been. investigated by the united states nations
8:05 am
into twenty thirty and last year where we have at least two incidents where both clearly proven that the syrian government ok now this alleged attack we're still waiting for the final evidence happened as the rebels are leaving the duma it's one of the last fronts now in the war against rebel held areas not against the law islamic state as early how close is the assad government to regaining complete control of the country not do not control over the whole territory of syria about that we have seen over the last couple of months some kind of political cleansing of ethical clans were political cleansing the syrian government is regaining territory help the rebels for four years in years and now we have two small pockets . of the rebels in there and then so. of syria and at the end of the day we'll have a division of the country between. the assad government and the kurdish government but no rebel rebel rebel hold area anymore ok and the kurds in the north of course
8:06 am
under pressure from the turkish government right now a completely different front this morning we also saw a missile attack on homes airport fourteen government soldiers apparently killed in that attack the u.s. says it was not behind it who who might have been one difficult to say highly likely the israelis because they have targeted reigning in for military infrastructure in syria for a couple of times now and these ball infrastructure to prevent an immediate maybe not the type of confrontation with israel or maybe friends because of monologue on has indicated that he wasn't ready to wait anymore he spoke of red lines again and maybe just agreed to act ok we recently saw a summit between russia turkey and iran on syria what came out of that what does it mean for the fighting and all eyes ahead for syria what we see some kind of end
8:07 am
game of the syrian civil war that everybody is expecting the war to end more or less and the division between the help territory and the syrian government held territory and given this the end game and i think in particular the extent that there is russia or and turkey trying to position themselves in territorial terms as well as political terms for any post war in syria and in the middle east in general the united states will it be playing a role in that post-war order we are having conflicting reports right now outside of washington whether the president's going to pull out american troops or not what's happening and i want to go to burger question i think to schools are fighting with the united states the international school in favor of staying engaged in syria. with regards to iran and the poles all poles wall before the middle east and the isolation of school are going strong for a withdrawal but at the end of the day have been eight days will decide what's

australia. is the first non indigenous person to be knowledge by such a ceremony which has not been performed since the one nine hundred sixty s. . it's to hungary now where the right wing nationalist prime minister viktor orban has won a decisive victory in the country's general election where bond took a hard line on immigration and on the use refugee resettlement program during the campaign in his victory speech he said the result gave hunger aryans the chance to defend themselves and to defend hungary. here's was we won a triumphant. hungary's right wing nationalist prime minister winning he's third consecutive term in office and he's fourth term overall it follows a campaign in which all band rallied almost exclusively against what he described as the poison of immigration. there's
8:10 am
a big battle behind us. we have won a crucial victory got a chance gave ourselves a chance to defend hungary. while yours was all burns populist in your eyes gave dignus edges of strain ties with the e.u. but they won his fetus party almost half the votes because of complex election laws he's on track to secure a two thirds super majority in parliament voted turnout rate close to seventy percent exceeding the past three elections it had been thought that high turnout might favor the far right opposition your beat and this into left socialists but trailing far behind the winner the leaders of hungary second and third biggest parties ever assigned following the result. i respect the decision of the voters even if it hurts and feels bad even if one expected a lot more support. but we have to accept it as part of life and part of democracy
8:11 am
when things go differently to what we would have liked. or been strong victory hands him increased legitimacy but it means almost certain trouble for independent media and civil groups at heart and likely more clashes with brussels. for the very latest from budapest let's bring in our correspond their father of author good morning farai this is another convincing victory for viktor orbán what support exceeding and also expectations. definitely i mean a two thirds majority given the fact that this was the highest award to turn out in since two thousand and two definitely gives more legit in his seat to a prime is to be coy boss if it is spotty and that's something that the prime minister and as well party members as well ah go on to make use of as they have
8:12 am
done in previous years this is two thousand and ten at the same time of course the opposition is baffled because traditionally it's the opposition that benefits from such a high voter turnout something that we have seen playing out during local elections and the february but it wasn't the case on the national level so while there is a huge victory for the fetus of party there's of course a lot of this believe on the side of the opposition some analysts actually say that the opposition especially the center left has to start from scratch zero to somehow uniting away and have a candidate in the future that people are convinced off to vote for ok vote for me it looks like it was an almost exclusive focusing on on migration that led to this overwhelming success for want. here. migration was definitely the number one topic amongst business voters placing first after the for social issues like highest salaries to high up pensions it was
8:13 am
a different picture when you look at the opposition and they are a proffer and says so depending of course all for depending on apology preferences some people said immigration is the one but other people said no it's social issues but if it comes to the bottom line of course and the bottom line is that a fetus won this election it was the migration issue without this party was campaigning on so hard the not just during this election but for many years now especially since twenty fifteen since the migration crisis began it definitely shows us it shows it to hungary that this is a very important to put a topic to voters here in hungary ok no with the two thirds of this. super majority what would that mean for or bongs legislative agenda. that's the big question what's going to happen next on the other hand of course if you look at the past in yourself probably use the veto or but you can guess what he wants to do and what he said already yesterday in his speech to defend hungary what
8:14 am
does that mean of course he's going to push for his vision for the european union meaning more sovereignty making sure that this country has more to say within the european union but not just his country but any country that european union he's going to follow up on that also of course he could make more restrictions to us sort of silence what's remaining of the critical media at least this is what critical john was a very close turned off and as you have seen in poland you could also of course somehow influence the judiciary as there was an attempt already a few years ago that could also lead to a lot of checks and balances we will have to see how that plays out and of course we'll have to see also what the european union can do to prevent that hungary is redrawing from certain checks and balances and from certain values that are integrated in the european union's constitution fallen far short of bringing us up to date from budapest this morning thanks very much. this is the job you do still

to come on the show people in the german city of munster paid tribute to the victims of saturday's that attack has details begin to emerge about the personality of the perpetrator. over to helen now and all change at the door trying to bury that's right deutsche bank is getting a new c.e.o. probably be quite a tough task that job effective immediately saving is set to take away the at the helm of germany's biggest lender and he is a veteran having walked there for almost thirty years most recently as co deputy c.e.o. now he takes over from john crying and he'll have an uphill climb ahead of him the bank has been struggling to turn a profit on declines tenure. christiane's evening has seen the dire strait of germany's largest bank from the inside deutsche bank's new c.e.o. started out as a financial advisor at one of its branches since then he's climbed the ranks to join the board of directors so he knows what he's getting into don't you bank had

hoped to make a name for itself in investment banking but the reality turned out quite different in securities trading the bank is still a straggler its investment bankers contribute too little to the bottom line while soaking up billions in bonuses each year but they've cost the bank a fortune in fines and penalties over the years and us president donald trump's tax reform will likely cost billions. and that's why i have bankers in a permanent state of crisis it's been hemorrhaging money for the past three years stanching those losses as christiane savings top priority and that means he'll have to untangle he's previous answers mistakes. and we can bring in stephanie now from a friend school of finance to talk to stephan deutsche bank has seen three top media ship appointments in six years amid pressure from investors to improve

profitability reverse that. is saving the man for the job. i think so sitting is probably not the one who will continue with the strategy that the bank is currently following given that he has been basically at the end of the private and corporate bank he would probably mean that that he would shift the focus to some extend and tries to bring back the bank to more profitable to higher profitability using that kind of strategy shift away then potentially from that investment bank business which didn't work out very well anyway what other changes does he need to make what is you really need to roll up the sleeves and get to work for the bank. i think one of the major issues is that really for particularly the investment banking part for each euro euro has to basically been spend so this is quite seems to be quite unprofitable and and i think people and also investors are
8:18 am
particularly concerned about the extent of the investment business investment banking business in the u.s. so they are probably and also the the big derivatives so there are a lot of things that need to change and what we've seen from the u.s. competitors basically they have made relatively quick and drastic changes its relative feed difficult to see whether we whether we would have to see the same was in dollar should and what i would think is that probably we see a gradual shift and an increase in the in the relative importance of the retail banking pods but i don't see that you don't expect to see drastic changes in the investment banking business and. of course this is the top job at deutsche bank i'm not sure if it's very any vehicle one bearing in mind that in twenty sixteen it was considered the most dangerous bank in the world off the i.m.f. found a potential collapse of deutsche opposed to risk to the global financial system is it still in such a tough position. i think it's to some extent it's
8:19 am
a set a dangerous bank i think the current levels of capital are relatively thin also given given the stock prices that we have a capital increases it's not really possible these days so i think. the bank has stood in a very vulnerable position and needs to return back to profitability and improve its performance such that at some point in time of a possible. account for the rez might might might be on the horizon all right it's a risky bank within capital a big task ahead of the new c.e.o. sasha steffen at the frankfurt school of finance thank you. meanwhile in london five traders from deutsche bank and british bank barclays take to the stand today in the first euro ball rigging trial now your boat or is the brussels based benchmark interest rate that banks charge each other to lend money to lend you raise the trade is a charge with manipulating that rate to their advantage at the height of the

dollars even tiny changes in the your board can result in enormous financial benefits for banks back to brian and brian investigators still looking for clues in the they are helena and we have some now emerging details are beginning to come forth about the man who drove a van into a crowd in the german city of munster on saturday killing two people and injuring many more police are saying he was wealthy and had had a number of runs with the law is also said to have expressed suicidal thoughts to a neighbor just last week people in munster while they've been attending a church service for the victims. the people of minster packed out the city's famous palace cathedral in honor of the victims of saturday's atrocity. earlier flowers were laid outside the popular pub in the old town where it happened

two people were killed and dozens more injured when a forty eight year old german man crashed his van into the crowd the driver had mental problems of most known to police he shot and killed himself after the incident. fit to show the wound in one's i've lived in munster for forty years and hardly seen a drop of blood because the people here are so nice it's such a beautiful city a new one to mention in does it start it's been for i'm relieved i'm sirleaf that it wasn't a terror attack. germany's interior minister called it a brutal and cowardly crime. i'm here today in munster to convey the solidarity and condolences of the entire government especially the chancellor angela merkel in space on the consulate police said previous petty crime charges against the driver had all been dismissed we can only tell you that at the

moment we have no indications that there is a political background or that other perpetrators were involved. he says well there's relief this wasn't a terrorist incident it's a painful reminder of how little the authorities can do to prevent vehicles being used as weapons. or for more on the aftermath let's bring in dubuque correspondent charlotte charles i'm told joins us now from the city of months for good morning charlotte what's happening where you are today following yesterday's vigil. people are just heading back to work this monday morning ops of what has been a risky weekend that has left people here in months to shake and that cost him by on the way to what people are laying flowers just behind me lighting candles to pay their respects to those who have lost their lives in this attack the question here on everybody's lips is why how did this happen what motivated this attack it's

a landslide victory in hungary's general election or bonds campaign took a hard line on immigration and on the use migration policy. to discuss the hunger in election outcome we're joined now by alexander graff lom store member of the german part parliament from the free democrats he also served in the e.u. parliament as a deputy president good morning to you mr starr thanks for being with us today are you surprised at the overwhelming level of support victor were bought as one for his anti immigrations that. well i'm not really surprised because there was a ruthless teacher mean nation on the part of the governing party or on the part of mr obama himself to ride roughshod over democratic principles over the last couple of years so all the conditions were in place for him to win a solid victory it was very solid indeed but i don't think it's a big surprise ok you think people in brussels are of very worried this morning
8:32 am
having served in the european parliament for so many years. well of course there will be some dismay but even from brussels people saw that the opposition was deeply divided particularly the socialists have taken another drubbing the liberals were divided into three parties the greens fared relatively well so the democratic forces in hungary did not unite they were divided and that of course sets the course for a strong showing by the governing party ok now orbán has vowed to use his super majority now to continue his crackdown on pro e.u. pro migrant n.g.o.s al would brussels respond to a moves in that direction. well i believe that the european parliament on thursday will debate a report on the state of democracy in hungary and of course we all know that the state of democracy is not good at all in hungary some people even speak of this
8:33 am
election it not having been fair given the fact that critical media have been muffled or even shut down over the last couple of years so the parliament will retain its political stance the european commission will probably also chime in although with more moderate tones the big question the really big question is how will the council react when member states position themselves because of course it is absolutely crucial that the member states of the european union tell victor all one that he cannot continue down his author a tarion path that's the people he listens to ok but there is a split among those member states isn't there or bonn has a lot of support from allies in poland for example in slovakia the czech republic or are we seeing a split inside the european union right now not only in terms of migration but in terms of values as you just mentioned. well it's important to make a big difference between the values that i espoused by the governing party in
8:34 am
poland which is a profoundly catholic party a very religious party that's not the case for obama who is a straightforward author of terry and i think a little bit different difference he ation is in order want it when one looks at the four countries that you've just mentioned the so-called vision for they are not identical but you are right in pointing out that of course the tendencies in these countries towards author of tarrying isn't towards an attack on the independence of the judiciary towards undermining free media that is something that these countries have in common and therefore yes there may be a split opening up but i believe that the european treaties sort of the constitution of the european union are very clear when it comes to the foundational values of the union and therefore the others are called upon to make it clear that this cannot be tolerated in the longer run what about here in berlin how do you see the government and the german parliament responding to the specter. well in berlin
8:35 am
of course there's an enormous amount of hypocrisy we should not forget that victoria barnes author of terry in foetus party is part of the party family to which chancellor merkel's party belongs as well the european people's party and why people in the bulletin will probably congratulate him from that city at the same time i'm not sure they're really happy about the strong showing the liberals the social democrats the greens will continue to be critical towards budapest and this policy line followed better dog i'm ok you mentioned the hypocrisy here in berlin or bonn has very powerful friends here in germany the bavarian conservatives have allied themselves with or bought in many ways and even members of all americans party like the health minister again fond of support of is there a unified front here in berlin against orbán at this point i know that the amount of the talk received that i just spoke of relates to two things one is the division
8:36 am
of power the separation of powers in a democracy that has been systematically undermined in hungary over the last couple of years and the second element is even worse really because in germany we stand united and i would include the christian democrats and that in our fight against anti-semitism we have a problem with rising anti-semitism in many european countries that includes germany but in hungary big dog on and his party have run a campaign and have run a communication strategy that contains anti-semitic elements for a number of years now and so therefore congratulating viktor of on his election victory at them but you know on the one hand and fighting anti-semitism on the other hand don't go well together and therefore i think there's an amount of hypocrisy particularly with the german conservatives in that case ok now there has been some support here in berlin for using our economic sanctions against syria against purdah past specifically at the e.u. level cutting off funding for example would you support something like that to bring budapest back into line. well i think that is not something for the short run
8:37 am
but we will have a big discussion about the next financial framework for the european union starting in twenty twenty one and i believe it is in order to have a link between respect for the fund foundational values of the european union on the one hand and structural and cohesion funds really huge chunks of money that come into countries that are still in the process of catching up economically and establishes such a link i think we have a bit better lever to talk to countries that stray from of values alexander graf lobster member of the german parliament for the free democrats also served in the e.u. parliament as deputy president thanks very much for joining us this morning thank you is to poland now and a close ally of hungary's and another country that's often that odds with the e.u. recently european commission vice president of france timmermans is due in warsaw today for talks on poland's controversy zero court reforms the u.s.
8:38 am
threatened sanctions against warsaw if it does not make changes to that legislation another piece of legislation that has sparked concern beyond europe is worse also controversial holocaust law making allegations of polish complicity in the holocaust a crime now this is especially troubling of course for poland's jewish population some members of the community say they're living in a climate of rising antisemitism. michael should rich is poland's chief rabbi born in new york he's called warsaw home for close to three decades he's helped to rebuild poland's jewish community following the fall of communism especially in the capital warsaw a synagogue was desecrated by the germans during the holocaust during the communist era of the jewish community here kept a low profile today they're proud of their communities thriving again but few will discuss this renaissance on camera for fear of an anti semitic backlash or new
8:39 am
situation we're hearing things we haven't heard. since think in sixty eight it's exactly fifty years. there is no place for you in poland i'll help you go to israel. and you see the characters and there's been some cases nothing physical. fifty years ago in one thousand nine hundred sixty eight thousands of jews including many holocaust survivors left poland as the result of an anti zionist campaign by the communist regime. but journalists constantly give out stayed he was one of the few practicing jews in communist poland. his son arrives for a visit these two men represent two generations of jewish life in warsaw they both accuse poland's right wing populist government of not doing enough to combat anti semitism the right wing nationalist publications claim poland is under attack by
8:40 am
jews and print caricature is like this you need to wash your hands after this what is. it it's happening now because the end is you the new polish. hasbro matters to a ball the point but this is it exists that through out the. and which has existed even under communism and reemerged after the fall of communism. poland's new holocaust law took effect in march this year it's now a criminal offense to suggest poland was complicit in the extermination of jews during the nazi occupation they brought him self wrote a column stating just that for the daily because there were bush he says he could potentially be charged for this i stated that you were as members of the polish nation bayer co responsibility for some metsi crimes committed by the third reich.
8:41 am
and i certainly hope i will go to court it could land him three years in jail if a few. discuss . what's discussed. but one sees things differently he heads the social and cultural society of jews in poland founded after world war two the group was the largest jewish institutions in communist poland at the university of warsaw when remembers the mass exodus of jews fifty years ago when anti zionist sentiment swept poland but his society is very sensitive to outside criticism especially from germany. that they're trying to make
8:42 am
pose responsible for the final solution to the jewish question. in a nutshell germans did it not the poles the gentleman to go teach us polis. he shows us parts of the warsaw ghetto or more than four hundred thousand jews were forced to live in appalling conditions he says a polish priest at this catholic church was an anti-semite yet he helped jews hide from the nazis. semitic rhetoric in poland doesn't have the same consequences it does in germany you will see. chief rabbi michael should rich is now demanding that polish politicians take a firm stand no place for anti-semitism in poland we know what it can do we've seen it here before but we in two thousand and eighteen whether we're from the right or the left or the center we will not tolerate anti-semitism. otherwise the
8:43 am
rabbi fears there could be another mass exodus of jews from poland. or something else as i'm joined now here in the studio by which i did abuse a polish service the morning show what this law has been in effect now for about a month has anyone been charged or are there any charges pending. no nobody has been charged so far and to be honest i don't believe that anybody will be charged well the polish government has clearly underestimated the international criticism and international anger concerning this new holocaust lol there's been some very clear warnings coming from israel coming from washington and i guess that it did have some it had have some impact on the war so now we hear some major politicians of the ruling flow in just sparty saying well we should be careful with that law
8:44 am
this is a very sensitive issues there are some politicians saying even well maybe we should not apply this low as so this is a signal or even a common towards the prosecutors not to push this too far that's why i don't believe there will be some some charges laid because that was only only fueled that that role ok no and now if there are going to be no charges as you mentioned pressed against anyone why did the government pass this law. in my opinion the reason was was domestic domestic politics were low and justice party is very sensitive about history about polish sacrifice during the second world war about this but three arctic narration and this party want to present itself to the voters as a party which fights for good reputation of poland as a party who does not allow does good name of poland to be to be slandered in the world. and additionally there are some right wing politicians in poland who
8:45 am
tend to see some international conspiracy against the country and this conspiracy would reveal itself by this unfortunate expression polish death camps well media around the world sometimes use this expression when talking about the german that camps that were found it in occupied poland during the war and far right wing's politicians. this is i a proof for for some attempt to rewrite history and do to make poland instead of nazi germany responsible for whole oco so this is also the justification for this new law ok now in terms of the jewish community inside poland they say that they are increasingly the target of slurs is this something that's being reported and talked about in the mainstream polish press it is however rather in private media private press because it will public media in poland it's not really public anymore it's a national media and now and it's totally controlled by the government but. in

talk football now with me in the studios chris harrington from the sports talk about the bonus league action this weekend on sunday adore men who are looking for redemption after losing six nil to byron munich last weekend they faced stood guard on sunday dress yeah that's right they were the are or were it was the theme they were looking to remain around and they were looking for revenge because they lost the first time i against to guard so we have to wait and see how it turned out but an american did score the game's first goal and it was a matter of luck ok well as dortmund coach later said they hadn't expected to win in munich anyway and so dortmund went into their home game yesterday against it guard feeling very confident that despite the fact that their opponents were unbeaten in eight outings take a look. full hope fled the states of the returning marco royce dortmund on base and whenever he's been on the pitch this season but dortmund was slow out of the

traps guests took up however was unable to take advantage with the crowd becoming restless took them took the lead out of the blue. a misfit cross from christiane pulis six finding its way past keeper run rabbit seal and. dortmund ahead despite an uninspiring first half. they reappeared after the break at different based then soon they were to milan. richie but try a seventh goalie no one would miss the games arriving after a nice exchange with teammate nuri schoene after fifty nine minutes it was guy you know the mom who couldn't pull a sick taking out maximillian feely who sucks at home with his second attempts his last goal against to cut resulted in a loss this strike completed a three nil win the atmosphere in dortmund given a boost ahead of next week's showdown against fierce rivals shaka for tie phone

call could see his first loss in charge of stuttgart. tressel saw and now you know it's been a rough season for them but but this one puts him back in the driver's seat doesn't it have reports of their demise been greatly exaggerated no one saying greatly exaggerated they comes out to expectations we're talking about gautam and the perennial karriem partner of byron munich so in terms of how they kind of crashed out and then we heard of all of this in there are a locker room where they had you seen the coaches change you know but he just broke and made it very clear the team has two goals were trying to the champions league and coming in second their big test is going to come this sunday when they face their local rival shelter in the world darby so time will tell but it's always nice to come. off the back of the way ok it is but they're still not the force that they used to be whether you look at the bundesliga or the europa league they need to

rebuild where should a rebuild begin you know a lot of question marks around peter is he or is he not the right man to move the club forward i personally interviewed murray schoene he actually liking pete to still go to europe and club the man pretty much responsible for injecting all of this you know popularity and success into the b.b.b. black and yellow program you know so that's one question mark i think if he succeeds he will strengthen that into a yes he will hang around and then they have questions up front why the striker alone he is on fire as of late dortmund have to do everything they can to secure you know him to stay in black and yellow christian pulis it's the american who scored the first goal jaden sand show is an englishman on the wing they have so much talent and the rumor mill right now kevin trap is a goalkeeper they're in negotiations with i think if they get these players on the pitch they figure out a top if stoke is the right guy they have no reason to ribeiro did become that power they once were in the league ok it'll be up to show to pull that all together

devil in all that talent ok we have another game to talk about to show you right now also on sunday frankfurt locked horns with hoffenheim and these two teams came in to match a twenty one right on top of each other and six and seven respectively actually they couldn't be more different could they frankfurt where they are grant's visitors often. pride themselves on speed and technique let's find out which style won the day. in the one tag outs hoffenheim syria now goes man in the other frankfurt's nick cave actually two coaches two different styles but each attracting the interest of pi and munich after a cautious start the game sprang to life on take a moderate speech in the keeper but not the post to hoffenheim one of the other and frankfurt had not one but two chances to take the lead incredibly by mark i rescind newquay yo bitch which is night. so no goals to report at the break but just four minutes into the second half a breakthrough it's nice work down the frankfurt right finished off by yo bitch.

the high speakers value for the elite who were then on tongue by a sucker punch to go kick finding its way to mark he played insatiate gnabry and by and loney supplied to finish. firing in his fifth goal in this many games. course it was strange the wind as both sides went for the winner. sebastian as had a fact that the closest we got to that. it ended on is even in frankfurt probably a bit happier with the point they stay ahead of hoffenheim in the race for europe. ok chris frankfurt and in the race to call fire for the erie european cup competition do you see them remaining where they are in the standings well i think it comes down to a question of consistency i personally would like to see frankfurt you know go to europe because frankfurt's a bigger city
8:53 am
a lot more going on than frankfurt than oppose the hof and i mean i'll explain that because he's going to see a club second at the start attracting players that have that season success in the top european leagues and you know when you come to a city like frankfurt maybe if you're from a city you'd like that and maybe if you're like the farm lifestyle you like a team like hoffenheim but me personally i pull it for fight for they have kevin prince boateng researching that team it be nice to see frankfurt that consistency they have. tough schedule line ahead of them you know five games left hoffenheim you know have lost to the majority of point as they have ahead frankfurt have kind of split even with their remaining opponents but there are two teams in action tonight life to coast a labor couzin these teams are neck and neck so it really depends on how these t two teams do as well because life's like we cannot forget they finished second in the league last year so that will be a tough match tonight so there's a lot of competition in the key is consistency run looking talk about frankfurt briefly think boateng can help bring that consistency to that team that you like so

much yeah definitely you know i mean he definitely has a personality he has you know done something to galvanize the personality that the team has and you know when he scores and does well the team typically does well and they do have a solid defense they could improve their off in a little bit but you know i'm pulling for frankfurt because i'd like to see the book as they could become more competitive in europe in a new boss of the but as they go would be nice as well ok new bosses talk about the old boss the new boss has fired really really really have to congratulate them for their sixth title unbelievable yeah will the dynasty continue over will find and see them someday mean i think it's going to be difficult for clubs to play catch up because you have to look at the depth that byron munich currently have they have eleven dosti the world's best goalkeeper manuel neuer is back on the pitch practicing so i do expect him to come back it's even talk carl hides roommate is in the go she has hinted that he might look to extend frank river in iraq is contracts the winning threat the buyer currently have so when you have all of these pieces

back together you know it's hard to dethrone them but you have high kiss the seventy two year old will he stay or will he not that is the big question you know he will neither confirm nor deny the answer i think their success in the champions league you know has a lot to say with that because the season's already wrapped up but all roads lead to buyer for all of the upcoming most of the german upcoming talent because. they are the powerhouse that europe other european teams know about so i think it will take some time and it will take some sort of commitment from a talent to stick with another club ok for now though they deserve all the congratulations that they're getting right now don definitely definitely chris as ever chris harrington thanks very much ok. get your minder now of our top stories at this hour missiles have struck a syrian government airbase in the province of homs the u.s. the now is carrying out the strike it comes after washington warned the syrian government would pay a big price for a suspected chemical attack on civilians over the weekend and the right wing
