a muslim majority country it's ninety percent muslim in fact of the christian community is very very small what are relations like between indonesia's majority of population and its christian minority. well i mean all the main representatives of the society an issue out the president dr we dawdle. director from their charts association all of them have stated that this is not a religious attack that terrorism is a humanity issue and in general in addition to say these are very tolerant society i mean a practice that i'm wondering at the kind of islam you know that is there is the biggest muslim country has the biggest muslim population of the world so it is really an example due to following the scene and being in general they are at their mother's society and tolerant but this is. an issue this is a radical issue and what's been the response from church leaders to such

in israel for monday's opening of the u.s. embassy in jerusalem a white house delegation including treasury secretary steve nutrition and first daughter ivanka trump have arrived in the country ahead of the festivities the move of u.s. diplomatic headquarters from tel aviv comes on the seventieth anniversary of the founding of the jewish state israel is calling the u.s. move a triumph but the decision has angered the arab world and prompted international criticism protests are already underway with more expected in the coming days. meanwhile as israel marks jerusalem day scuffles broke out after israeli police allowed a jewish visitors to access the temple mound officers attempted to separate a jewish and muslim men in jerusalem's old city temple mount or shareef in arabic is one of the holiest sites in both judaism and islam.

let's cross over now to jerusalem where our correspondent my is sweeter is standing by so my are quite a lot going on in jerusalem today let's start with jerusalem day it's usually a day of tension in the city can you explain to us what it is and why were there so many angry protests. so today is jerusalem day and it marks the day after the one nine hundred sixty seven war in this region when israel annexed east jerusalem what was supposed to be the capital of the future of palestine and has essentially held on to that area ever since then claiming that jerusalem is united and jerusalem belongs entirely to israel which is obviously a narrative the palestinian side very strongly disputes and has been one of the big sticking points in the ongoing peace negotiations that now today we as you said we saw scuffles on the temple mount at least once including just recently when police

were caught punching someone in the head when there were clashes breaking out between the israelis the palestinians and the police that were at the dome of the rock there now earlier today i was following a group of actually left wing israeli peace activists who were walking through the old city handing out flowers and holding signs in the shape of hearts saying we love you in various languages and i got a very mixed reaction from the palestinians in the area who some of them very much accepted the flowers and were appreciative and many of them tore up the flowers or threw them on the ground and said that this is not at all helping their case now so jerusalem day is always been very much attends day but we've got the collision of the new embassy opening tomorrow the nakba day the catastrophe day for the palestinians the day after ramadan the starting later in the week of the holy month for muslims and of course last night israel won the euro vision song contest that there's a lot of high tensions and the city of has already used to very high tensions all right so let's talk now about the opening of the u.s. embassy in jerusalem tomorrow it's
5:08 pm
a highly controversial move why is that. so it's hard to to understand exactly why it's so controversial without going through the entire history of the city but as we have to remember jerusalem was originally supposed to be divided between the east for the palestinians and the west for the jews for the israelis and it has remained controversial whether or not israel holds all of the land or just the west part there and because of that most countries choose not to recognize drusilla as israel's capital even though israel maintains it is their capital and to keep their and the most countries keep their embassies in tel aviv which is what the u.s. has done up until now and so this announcement that the u.s. is going to be moving their embassy to jerusalem has sparked all sorts of furor because it is basically a knowledge in a war israelis say is simply a reality for them because they say their political center is here their prime minister their congress is here this is their capital but the palestinians say this is going to completely blow up any kind of peace process that may still have been
5:09 pm
going on even though the peace process has really been stalled for many years at this point so lots of conflicting viewpoints here at all as we said a lot of high tensions in the city now well if it as you said israel considers jerusalem to be its capital all along now that the u.s. is moving its embassy there are we likely to see other countries follow suit. we've seen a couple of declaration of some countries such as a guatemala and honduras saying they will also be moving their embassies to jerusalem some time soon and a few european countries i believe. hungary romania and the czech republic have also made noises to the similar extent saying that they will consider moving their embassies here however we also have to know that there was a in the e.u. there was a statement that was going to be put out i believe on friday that was actually blocked by these very same countries condemning the u.s.
5:10 pm
is moving of their embassy from tel aviv to jerusalem as i said that was blocked but this is not a popular move on this part of the u.s. and is going to continue to inflame tensions at least for this week and probably long beyond that my issue a to reporting for us from jerusalem thank you now to some of the other stories making news around the world and officials in afghanistan say at least six people have been killed and at least twenty more wounded after militants attacked a government building in the eastern city of jalalabad and the attackers set off multiple bombs before storming the building a gun battle with security forces is reported to be ongoing. north korean state television says the government will begin dismantling its nuclear test site in the coming weeks it says journalists from several countries will be invited to witness the dismantling set to take place less than a month before a summit between u.s. president donald trump and north korean leader kim jong un. the regional parliament
