a counter demonstration. plus real madrid is crowned the king of european football yet again jubilation as the spanish giants take the champion's league trophy for the third straight year defeating liverpool in the final four talk about the match the magic and the misfortune. i'm irish waiter thanks for joining us north korean leader kim jong un says he's still committed to a summit with u.s. president donald trump in singapore next month trump first pushed for the summit and then on thursday abruptly canceled the june twelfth talks and now says preparations are moving ahead again yesterday kim held a surprise meeting with south korean president in that may have restarted the process. reaching out to keep peace efforts on track south korean president moon j. in the north korean leader kim jong un hold

a surprise second meeting in the demilitarized zone one month after their historic first encounter. later in the t.v. address to the nation president moon said kim was committed to denuclearize in the korean peninsula he also said that kimock spross has fixed will and holding face to face talks with donald trump. it would have to know one i told chairman kim that if he decides to put into practice a complete denuclearization to president trump is open to economic cooperation and ending hostile relations. i just want to make the us president called off some plans earlier in the week now says the original date remains possible. i think there's a lot of goodwill i think people want to see if we can get that meeting and get something done if we got that done and if we can be successful in the denuclearization. of the korean peninsula it would be a great thing for north korea would be

a great thing for south korea to be great for japan and great for the world great for the united states great for china. a lot of people are working on it and it's moving along very nicely so we're looking at june twelfth in singapore that hasn't changed. and it's more along pretty well so we'll see what happens. with or without the u.s. the leaders of the two koreas seem eager to hold tight to their warming relations. let's go to correspondent jason strother who's following the story for us from seoul cities in the summit would be a major political win for trump a why is it also so important to kim's unwisely so as he allegedly says fix on it. well for the north korean leader it means a lot i mean first sanctions relief the north has been hit with heavy embargoes because of its nuclear and missile program and they want relief but perhaps an even
2:04 pm
bigger reason why kim would want to meet with president trump is for recognition more symbolic to hold talks with the american president means that he's on a somewhat equal footing and there's nothing more than north korea there's nothing more than north korea wants them to be recognized as a world power and having a one on one summit with donald trump is certainly one way that kim sees he can achieve that status so this has been on again off again unless i guess on again again what do you make of moon's comments this time specifically relaying kim's message or you know moon has been the facilitator all along it was him that encouraged north korea to participate in the pyongyang winter olympics earlier this year he held his own summit. now two summits first in april and now again this weekend with kim and he's the one who's tried to convince both donald trump and kim
2:05 pm
jong un that either man is ready to speak and willing to speak with one another so you know i think it came as a complete shock to moon earlier this week when when donald trump called off the summit and i think this meeting with kim over the weekend was a way to again try to reconcile to salvage those negotiations and now the fact that trump says the summit is back on on june twelfth in singapore has to be good news the south korean president right jason strother in seoul thank you very much thank you. now to some of the other stories making news around the world the israeli military killed two more palestinians in the latest clashes along the border with the gaza strip the i.d.f. says it retaliated after a bomb was planted near the fence that separates gaza from israel the men were confirmed as members of the militant group islamic jihad more than one hundred palestinians have died since protests against the border wall began in march. and

arlin pro-choice supporters have been celebrating the landslide vote in favor of liberalizing the country's restrictive abortion law the referendum on repealing the constitution's eighth amendment passed by a margin of two to one far higher than any opinion poll had predicted once parliament passes a new abortion law irish women will no longer have to travel abroad to seek an abortion. supporters of the german anti immigration party f.t. have been on the march here in berlin for a rally they call quote a future for germany the party won nearly thirteen percent of the national vote in elections last september on an anti foreigner and anti islam platform and if the politicians were welcomed with applause as the rally got underway at will in central train station the party estimated at five thousand supporters have turned up but they were met with strong opposition thousands marched around the victory column in a counter demonstration made up of various groups who came together under a banner entitled stop the hate. i'm joined now by our correspondent thomas sparrow
2:07 pm
who is at the alternative for germany rally in front of the berlin central station and eve for him who's one of the demonstrations against the f.t.'s of thomas let's start with you give us an overview what is the f.t. protesting for or against here. well you said it yourself maya what they want is a different future for germany that's something that they've been saying right behind me at the german parliament something that they've also been saying here in central berlin of the demonstrators that we that we've met and that we've talked to that's exactly what they want now we're standing here in a bridge over the river and just a few minutes ago this was a river that also divided two clear views of germany on the one hand precisely those safety demonstrators on the other hand the anti a.f.d. demonstrators it would spin absolutely clear that there are two visions of germany here specifically what the a.f.d. demonstrators have expressed that they want is a change even
2:08 pm
a radical change would call it in german politics most of them also calling for an end to chancery. there actually multiple protests happening right now in central berlin against what a.m.d. is rallying for what do those parties have planned what's happening there. as you said yes correct there are a number of demonstrations planned here in the city i'm standing at the end of one of them here. right behind me you will see berlin's brandenburg gate and that is what these protesters that's their plan they want to march all the way to brandenburg gate and beyond so that eventually they would meet god d. protesters and put a stop as they put it to to their vision of germany at least symbolically through this demonstration today i've spoken to a number of them here and it's really a diverse crowd you have young people old people and they're really here to defend their version of berlin and what they see the city stands for which to them is
2:09 pm
openness and tolerance and in their view also something that the f.t.c. is against through their policies and through their rhetoric about. alternative lifestyles but also immigration and the economy so this is their plan for today and this is their one goal for today is to give it's to have a clear stand against the slogans that are being chanted by the a few kilometers away from where i'm standing at the moment they're just a few kilometers apart thomas so we've got these foreign supporters and her opponents in berlin around the same area is there any chance these two sides could end up meeting and clashing how are police handling this well this is obviously a very big challenge for police there's no doubt about that in fact i spoke earlier to the police spokesperson he said that there are around two thousand officers on duty here precisely trying to prevent any clashes any type of violence not only police from berlin but also from other german states in fact nine german
2:10 pm
states have also sent police officers here so it's certainly a very big challenge indeed for police thomas for the far right the rally in berlin and i ever him at the counter rally thank you both very much. onwards to sports around that have been crowned european champions very third consecutive year after defeating liverpool three one in the champions league final in kiev and joining me in this studio to discuss this dramatic metaphor is quest sorts department so why don't i go around madrid right yeah i want to know what a night extending their winning history he'd go as many expected and specifically fans imagery in typical traditional fashion they pretty much converged on the city center in madrid campaign. having a blast as always and they were in this spot last year and the season before that so clearly given all the fainted we have madrid for supporters in spain raising to

smile and of course my we have a report we should take a look at that now. liverpool started on the front first but after thirty minutes disaster struck starman mohamed salah tussled with said he ramos and was forced off with a shoulder injury after the break a lapse in concentration from one of his copy of skills to karim benzema the opener but around the trade were bracing for too long as liverpool hit back four minutes later saudi money level discours won all but then gareth bale came off the bench to produce perhaps the goal of the season his spectacular overhead kick giving madrid a two one lead after sixty four minutes fails long range slipped through his fingers and finalized you're going plops second defeat in a champions league final. three one the final score ramage read revelling in liverpool's heartbreak as they celebrated their thirteenth champions league title. so chris this was an intense game but in the end damage red did themselves another

one so now they have a third champions league title in a row have they become basically unbeatable at this point definitely i think they pretty much put their name on this premier competition in the champions league final you know because clearly winning the three peat is one accomplishment and their depth one super sub in particular it only took gareth bale two minutes in two seconds to turn into superman after he was dead to leave us all with the magical moments and he commented about his super feet on the biggest. dream come true. to do. very close. in such a. now liverpool had some bad luck early on that their star sallah going off at the game is i think is going to be really remember for the

mistakes that add a goalkeeper last made what happened there well first off defense wins championships in laura's kerio at a lapse of mental judgment clearly you know because the first goal it looked like he was trying to feed his defense the ball get the ball going in to the other teams territory and visit my stuck his foot out and then at the first go that was the first lapse in judgement and then the second one it was unclear what exactly happened but somehow i'm thinking his gloves could have been made of teflon because gareth bale scored a second goal in the ball just look like it magically just floated through his fingers you know very tough and after he commented and said he was sorry for everyone about the performance you know so although you got it you got to feel philip for the youngster i mean he's in his early twenty's defining moment will he rebound as you have the mental fortitude time will tell it's as another defeat of course for the ripple club is he cursed or is he just not up to the task you know i think your conclusion is a great motivator you saw the team rebound after more salo was taken out questionable way by sergio ramos you know but the team did rebound through my

native score goals so that's all i think credits to close up you know i think he will be back because motivating is magical and you can cloak touched or in the defining moments of the final. kind of a house challenge because the key is that it's like wrestling a little bit the most unlucky then the more all of us shoulder and it's a serious injury that's even burrows really seriously. and. the other the size of moments of gold are quite. strange. but produce all those all the old results revolve around a trip of that's. why we are not in the best mode of history. ok so we were sitting in these exactly it yesterday and you made a prediction yeah i'm feeling really prophetic right now i think you should change my name from chris to the amazing kreskin when it comes to making score predictions
