7:01 pm
what's at stake. and real madrid are crowned kings of european football yet again the spanish giants returning home after taking the champions league title for a third consecutive year defeating liverpool in the final we'll talk about the match the magic and the misfortune. hello and welcome my name is christopher spring gate good to have you with us germany's far right took to the streets of berlin know they are today supporters of the n.t. immigration alternative for germany or a hefty gathering for a rally they called a future for germany an estimated five thousand demonstrators attended meanwhile twenty train station demonstrators then made their way to the brandenburg gate they were greeted there by thousands of counter-demonstrators to two. to block progress
7:02 pm
barricades were read as police kept the two sides apart. ok let's get the latest from our correspondents on the ground now our political correspondent thomas sparrow monitoring the demonstration t.w. abraham she's been keeping an eye on the counter demonstrations for starting with you thomas the rally is over i believe what was its central message today. its central message christopher was that they want a different type of germany that they're not that they do not necessarily agree with the way things have developed they do not necessarily agree with anglo merkel they do not necessarily agree with government's policies when it comes to immigration when it comes to the euro when it comes to integration you name it it was basically a call here in berlin for a different type of germany and that was also evident from the other protesters as well it was in a way actually of different visions and well let's go to those other counter-demonstrations
7:03 pm
been monitoring them for us some of what has their message been the counter-demonstrators. and simply it's exactly what you say these are country demonstrations these demonstrations never would have happened had the added not have this show of power planned here so their main message is to say that they stand for everything that they stand against everything that the five day stands for they believe the way that they see that he does not represent the diversity and the color firmness of german society as they see it so they are here in their thousands to see that they are open they are accepting of people from different walks of life they're accepting of immigrants and people people coming from different parts of the world and that is their own vision of germany it's important to note that this is this this particular demonstration where i'm at was called for partially on social media by a collection of berlin. nightclubs something that. city is it is very well known
7:04 pm
for as it has come to define its identity over the past past couple of years but the amounts of people and the diversity and in the demonstration itself cannot be understated and from what i've seen i've seen families i've seen young people students immigrants people from all walks of life so even though it was called for initially from on social media from this group we've seen a diverse group of people that this demonstration this counter demonstration ended up attracting and their main message is that as far for today at least that they stand for everything that the odd day is not ok and back to thomas thomas the safety demonstration the counter-demonstrations both of them trying to end up in front of the brandenburg gate to actually meet each other in any way. well they directly if you will they were divided obviously by police and you could hear both sides charging if you will the other side but from what we saw standing right here
7:05 pm
. they did not specifically meet directly but it was you know way a clash of a set of ideas and a clash of visions. ok i embrace him and thomas sparrow both in different sports in central berlin many thanks to both of you. turning to other news now u.s. officials have reportedly visited north korea for talks on preparing a june summit between president of trump and north korean leader kim jong il and that's according to a report in the washington post newspaper those talks come of the south korean president in his north korean counterpart held a surprise meeting on saturday that meeting focused on keeping the korean peace process moving after u.s. president donald trump canceled the june summit than signaled it may go ahead after all. in colombia voting is taking place in the south american nations presidential election

a key issue for voters the landmark peace deal colombia's outgoing president signed with marxist fark rebels two years ago right wing candidate even ducasse says that deal is too lenient on far caruthers he wants to jail former rebels for war crimes meanwhile the leftist candidate who is double paned the role he backs the deal his party also not ruling out entering a coalition with the fox political party. now that peace treaty was signed in twenty sixteen ending a conflict that last two decades and claimed hundreds of thousands of lives but what do people think in the regions worst hit by that conflict to feed their homes filed this report from grenada a town that suffered one of the worst fuck attacks. jason kidd was a young boy when focker at a fight as a tech the town of granada although he now wags as a journalist for
7:07 pm
a local radio station it's still difficult for him to talk in front of a microphone about that day and what it did to his family. i mean i mean me about that i'm a little my brother was killed when i was eight years old and that was really hard for me you know we haven't they were when we did it but i mean it's ok that i believe that if we go back to living with the things that happened to us with the destruction of the town and so much shooting would happen here and for another i do not think we would survive. there but obviously steve perry. in december two thousand and five gorillas set off a huge car bomb at this intersection it killed twenty three civilians and five police offices. today a small museum called the room of never again serves as a memorial to the attack. if they want to preserve that but this will represent some of the victims of the conflict here in
7:08 pm
tire you know we have this block here of those who are still disappeared and these on this side were murdered and buried so many hamleys have not yet recovered from that loss and they continue to suffer their pain and some have not been able to forgive them and they've been doing this in one field but it but not. in the referendum on the peace deal in two thousand and sixteen most people in granada voted against the agreements but one and a hobby years later many seem to have changed their minds. of what a good. i would vote yes because we are at peace now before the violence in this town was unbearable for the program but more like you're living with a brother. many think it would be better to vote yes because we are searching for peace if we. no we'd be wrecking that process someone else will come up with some ways it will save. many colombians are worried that the election of a new president could endanger the peace process. but not as many as says that for
7:09 pm
his town there is no going back. what i believe that in the coming four years the government will not be able to reverse the peace process that the current president one man was started one will sound to. no one in granada expects the peace agreement to restore what they have lost but little by little they are managing to deposit their billions in a chest of memories. ok we're going to take a look at some of the other stories making news around the world in syria human rights activists say nine russian and twenty six government soldiers have been killed during fighting with islamic state militants in the country's east and as it says over forty militants died in the clashes which broke out in david ellis who are one of the few areas where the group still has a strong presence. the israeli military has killed three most palestinians in the latest clashes along israel's border with the gaza strip israel says it retaliated

after a bomb was planted near the fence that separates gaza from israel the men who are confirmed as members of the militant group islamic jihad more than one hundred police palestinians have died so far since protests against the border wall began back in march. and europe's biggest theme park has reopened off a huge fire broke out there on saturday several areas of germany's europa park have been damaged though many rides operating as normal it's still unclear what caused the blaze the park says it may have caused millions of euros into image. now the spanish capital is gearing up for one big party israel. druid returns home after the three one win over the pole in the champions league final defender said fuel ramos put in charge of looking after the trophy some have nicknamed big game
7:11 pm
isn't the captain and his team mates clearly getting to know that trophy rather well with a squad full of superstars including of course chris turner an elder have now won the champions league four times in the last five years. and joining me now to talk about all that emily short's from d.w. sports emily thanks for being with us they've done it again real madrid to. win europe's top club tournament how did they do that this time it just seems that this is the competition for around madrid i mean earlier this season they want doing very well in the spanish league in the spanish cup they got thrown out very surprisingly and it seemed as if you don was on his way out actually but they put all their focus all of the energy into this one competition and they managed to defeat liverpool three one in the final on saturday and it's claimed another victory and the extraordinary thing you know winning the title of the title this kind of serial winning of the top club tournament in europe in an age of play is
7:12 pm
moving around so quickly you know they one of the secrets of the success i think is they've kept this team together but how long can they manage to keep this team together i'm so you just said it's the consistency i mean if we look at it has fielded the same eleven players in this starting line up as in last year's final and nine out of the eleven players even played in the file before that so they won and now three times in a row and like you said the question is what's there left to win there might be some big movement in the squad one of them is more obvious it might be a match winner of saturday gareth bale he hasn't been getting the playing time that he wants at real madrid and he's hinted that he might look for it elsewhere and then the big story was obviously cristiana ronaldo he too hinted an exit he said he wouldn't make an announcement yet he would do it next week out of respect for his teammates and the fans. courted him but it's been a nice time at real madrid so these are obviously words that are very open to interpretation but he's won everything there is with real madrid and for years for
7:13 pm
almost a decade now he's been the face of around madrid he's there i can know if you ask sounds all over the world what is around madrid it's going to be christiana ronaldo he's broken records he's brought them glory so the question is whether the club will be able to replace him if that leaves is there any hint of where ronaldo might go next you know you could say the big money in china is similar to undress and yes he could be moving to japan the m.l.s. hard to tell at this point or maybe the premier league owners will see talking about the premier league how is liverpool coping after that fairly disastrous defeat last night obviously it's been a very difficult time for the liverpool players above all or askari as their goalkeeper who just had a horrible time last night i mean his two mistakes basically cos they were poor the title he cost two out of the three round injured goes but the liverpool fans are still celebrating because they've had a fantastic season you know they've come so far they played great football under here is installed this really fun to watch kind of play and they actually hope the fans feel that this might be the start of another new era of getting big titles and
7:14 pm
bring glory back to liverpool room and see if if that happens i mean nobody really expected them to make the champions league final so if you look at it that way it has been a good season for them emily short's from g.w. sports many things thank you. and we're going to finish this program with a glimpse of the world's highest musicians a french troupe determined to make it all the way to the top. masai band who we do determined not to go out on a high note was thinking maybe a metre and a half in the sky suspended between two mountains in central china. this group here slacklining come by. mining rather slacklining a form of tightrope ing with music and at least this time they pulled off a difficult balancing act and made it back to the can assure you.
