a multi national crew of astronauts will blast off to the international space station they'll lift off from the baikonur cosmodrome in kazakhstan led by german astronaut alexander gast it will be his second mission to the i assess and he'll take command of the orbiting lab later this year his team will conduct a host of experiments including some into the effects of stress on the human immune system there is maybe important for future missions to mars. is at the launch site in baikonur and sent us this report. i mean by cornu are at the world's largest spaceport to cause more drama as it's called here in the middle of the steps. no where in the world along just as many spacecraft as the displaced us even as the russian cosmonaut human regarding the first human in space to call from here.
11:06 am
there are just a few hours left until the launch. a special training brinks of the soyuz spacecraft to the ramp. security is tight especially i was told because there is a danger of espionage and here comes the rocket of a long shot at seven o'clock in the morning. right up until takeoff technicians work in the rocket and recheck everything meticulously because of the actual launch is one of the most dangerous moments of the whole flight obviously the launch is one of the more risky for use this but it's also something the crew is really looking forward to to experience these incredible forces that push the humans from the surface of this planet into orbit
11:07 am
it's remarkable the g. loads it's pretty quick less than nine minutes from lift off until you reach the weightlessness and you are traveling with almost twenty eight thousand kilometers per hour it's something to look forward to on earth these flights to other astronauts are on board alongside of the german commander alexander garrisoned at the russian sergei prokofiev and the u.s. american series a non chancellor of this imagine all of this you guys is it's always been a pleasure. we. know it's really. going. to. be. the big moment is approaching and the van all systems go everything is ready for space.

joining us in the studio now is jennifer no one from the european space agency she's head of the isa's research office thanks for being with us this morning jennifer but you helped prepare some of the experiments that are going to be conducted up there what do you hoping to learn from these experiments that can help us here on earth here in space flight is currently entering the next phase of space exploration we have been and we are utilizing the international space station to the maximum extent possible but we are already preparing for the next step we would like to go back to the moon we would like to go to mars with a human crew and that is our daily work that is what we are preparing for it will probably not come as a surprise to you when i tell you that the space environment is not really an environment for which humans were made space is actually quite
11:09 am
a hostile environment when you think about it space exposes to astronauts to massive radiation it exposes ten to zero gravity conditions to which the human body adapts and the astronauts have to live in a very confined and very confining little tin can. very close to each other and all these factors have a direct impact on to fish the ability off such long duration exploration missions and that is what we're preparing for the astronauts are going to be on the space station if we're going to work for this mission. just how difficult is it to be up there for that long period of time briefly if you can it is very challenging but for the last fifty years we have shown that it is possible to have humans constantly in space we can keep them healthy we can keep the performance up there. so we have gained a lot of knowledge on how to make humans
11:10 am
a spacefaring species there are still a lot of challenges that we need to address and that is what we do with our science program and that is what i like sun is going to contribute to with his mission for the next six months jennifer thank you so much jennifer and no one from the european space agency issues head of isa's research office thank you kewl. and you will be bringing you the blastoff live from the baikonur cosmodrome in kazakhstan in just at just after thirteen hundred berlin time that's all eleven hundred g.m.t. do join it if you can. argentina have canceled saturday's world cup warm up against israel over fears of palestinian protests the soccer friendly was due to be played in haifa but was then switched to jerusalem angering palestinians in the wake of the city being recognized as israel's capital by the united states protesters had threatened to burn jerseys of argentina's starlee n.l. messy argentina's coach had been unhappy about the scheduling of the match anyway
11:11 am
the cancellation is a blow to israel politically and to argentina's world cup preparations with the tournament in russia starting next thursday. well calls for argentina to boycott the game with israel were already making the rounds on social media before the decision using the hash tags argentina don't go and nothing friendly now some people are welcoming the move here's a prominent palestinian association tweeting we welcome news that argentina's friendly football match with israel has been cancelled the team responded to creative campaigning from fans around the world denouncing israel's sports washing of its crimes against palestinians take note some argentinian fans here also supporting the decision this woman writes i feel like my team argentina has already won the world cup twenty eighteen thank you for doing the right thing argentina and

our national sport shouldn't be used to normalize the horrible situation in gaza there is nothing friendly about shooting innocent people. criticism as well of course mainly from israel here's a journalist sharing his disappointment everyone loses israeli fans israel football association argentina football association has to scramble to find opponent really disappointing for from argentina israel will not forget this. so politics very much involved in the cancellation of the sporting event for more let's bring in our correspondent tanya kramer in jerusalem tanya the match has been canceled as we heard tell us more know about the reasoning behind that. what i see is said i mean the pressure has been mounting on the arts and t.n.t. not to come out originally be friendly was scheduled to be held in haifa a port city in northern israel there were also protests expected there but when as
11:13 am
we understand this very government pushed the game to be played and to be misled the red line was crossed for many palestinians and the head of the palestinians football association head cold has accused actually the israeli government of politicizing again palestinians of course. as an occupied city they want to see east jerusalem as the future capital of their future independent state and as far as we understand also a lot of the come pain is not to play not for the teams to play also said you know we should look at what's happening with the protests in gaza now what's also written a lot in the israeli media is also the action team media being quoted that it's not pressure by the palestinians by lobby groups but as well as the you know some of the leading players have said they might not want to come to play that game so are palestinians generally happy that the match has been cancelled turn you do they see
11:14 am
this as some kind of victory. well i've seen as you seen on those reactions and so some you know already the palestinian head of the football association has welcomed a move they said and this is the right saying it previously cold for burning a message t. shirts now is everywhere in the world of course messi is also very much loved by palestinian fans so there was a lot of pressure then and for them it's a significant breakthrough actually that they're being able as they see to prevent such a high level play a cultural and sports event to be held in jerusalem so what's at stake here in this decision for israel tania. well i think it's a significant setback but there have been a lot of angry reactions by officials say also by some israeli ministers referring to a cultural terrorism as incitement by the palestinians who understand also that the israeli prime minister binyamin netanyahu had
11:15 am
a cold the argentinean president as of last night trying you know to sainz their mind but at the end it was the game to the team to argentina and a team who decided you know that they don't want to come and play here. tony kramer there in jerusalem you're watching d.w. news thanks for being with us. we may come over week what time of i think that and thirty five we are on the seven summits and. they want to change the continent's future to be part of it and drawing down youngsters as they share their stories their dreams you know dear john has this invasion present platform for africa jordan.
