marsters a merchant isn't by no means meant to out on the brink recently dangerous times. this is the w. news live from but the german chancellor tries to ease a crisis that could bring down how government angela merkel is planning emergency talks with affected e.u. nations in a bit to solve a huge speech around where the migration with her own interior minister but what are the chances of a compromise we'll have full analysis from our chief political correspondent also
3:01 pm
coming up. fans have descended on moscow as germany kick off their world cup campaign in just two hours time can you hear nerves team get off to a winning start against mexico we'll get the latest from our correspondent at the state you. live. in a home for good to have you with us german johnson i'm going to merkel is seeking a mission seat talks with several nations on migration policy as she struggles to avert a crisis within her coalition but germany's government has denied a report that a special summit is to take place no matter who is locked in a round with her interior minister. who has threatened to define her and go ahead with plans to unilaterally tighten germany's food is on monday now america is adamant
3:02 pm
a european solution must be found. was there were for heads the variances to party off macas christian democrats with fierce fighting that the deadlock could bring down the german government he says he has no intention to split the conservative block while this is what he said to the bid i'm sontag newspaper nobody in the c.s.u. was interested in a toppling the chancellor dissolving the conservative parliamentary group breaking up that coalition. and i'm joined now by she finished school correspondent melinda crane to unpick this for us melinda what appears to be a softer tone potentially now from the interior minister who will say who for he states the beginning of a compromise between the interior minister and chancellor merkel what do you think possibly that same newspaper the builds on sunday is now reporting that mr say hope his party the c.s.u. the bavarian conservatives will give the chancellor another two weeks essentially
3:03 pm
that's what she's been asking for to try to come up with a european solution to essentially fix the broken system for refugee and migration policy within the e.u. we have a very important use summit coming up in two weeks time and this would give her some time to try to find agreements with other affected e.u. countries. this morning there had been other indications that perhaps the c.s.u. was going to remain firm and in fact at the moment they are denying that they're ready to do a compromise with the chancellor but frankly their options are very small if they were to push this to the limit and essentially go through with the ultimatum that mistress a hope for had delivered to the chancellor tomorrow then he would be out of a job and the party itself would wind up having to leave the governing coalition
3:04 pm
with not very many good options for remaining in power at the national level now america has been under huge pressure for a long time to fix this is something that's divided the european union how do you think she's going to go about putting a solution forward in the coming weeks well as you reported apparently the she is looking at trying to hold talks with affected countries and when i say affected countries i mean those on the perimeter the external perimeter of the european union that's countries like italy. lee like greece also austria all have borne the brunt of this influx of refugees in many respects without very much support with from many of the other european human union countries germany of course is also borne a big burden but the material costs and impact have very much rested with those countries and of course we've seen some political fallout from that not least in italy which now has a nationalist populist government so the chancellor has said all along we need to
3:05 pm
have a multilateral solution to what is an european problem that could go it alone solutions absolutely will only make the problem worse and in fact she repeated that this week in her pod cast we can take a quick listen to what she had to say their european challenge it also needs a european response and i think this is one of the crucial issues for europe's cohesion. i mean into remind us why the chancellor is so against that unilateral solution put forward by her interior minister well for a couple of reasons first of all it would send the burden back to those countries that have already borne the brunt of the crisis essentially germany would be saying to them look we're sending the refugees back to you and you have to figure out what to do with them it's your problem they entered your countries first so you have to cope with that that kind of unilateral germany goes it alone solution is clearly
3:06 pm
a recipe for conflict within the european union but beyond that the chancellor has been saying for months now we need multilateral solutions in general to the complex problems that face us internationally she's faulted donald trump for going it alone for being unilateral and nationalistic if she were now to agree to do the same she's essentially doing the very thing she has for sworn multilateralism has very much been her recent months our chief political correspondent linda crane thanks your analysis. well a convoy carrying hundreds of migrants has arrived in space a week off of their rescue spock's a pan-european route over migration they aquaria ship and two other boats have docked in the port of valencia ending something of an odyssey for those on board spain stepped in to offer the migrants entry off to italy a multiple both refused to let them land spanish with ortiz's say they will examine

german performance a lot of a lot of things have been said about this germany team in preparation for this world cup have they been through the right type of adversity is this the right squad to succeed at defending a title is the political clout there now hangs over the team a problem that is therefore an issue they haven't played very well going into this is going to be all of those questions will be on said this evening when they play and the expectation is for them to win and to win well i do we know anything about the line up yes. there have been some early reports about some of the decisions about a line up and there are two surprise decisions one thing that you're going to have confirmed yesterday was that julian draxler would be playing on the left which means that either marker or some measures there will be on the bench and it looks like that person will be marco royce and the second surprise is that left back jonas hector he isn't sick so that means that moment planned how it will play for
3:11 pm
him which is a bit of a surprise for the state fewer than four hundred minutes for germany so to some surprise and it seems the expectation remains for germany to win all right jonathan harding for us in moscow thank you. now goalkeeper manuel neuer will lead his team mates as they march out on to the pitch sneaky stadium in moscow but this time four years ago it was phillip lung captaining the side and ahead of this often means game he's been talking to our last go bureau chief you're here to shatter an exclusive interview with. mr lama how are you and what are your first impressions of russia. i'm doing great because i'm back at a world cup and that's always something special i get to watch lots of games and that's really nice and. i think what do you like about russia. at the moment i'd say that the people here are really excited about the world cup they're happy that they can host such a massive event. coming to see you at

a public viewing in moscow. probably watching the games at the stadium instead but i'm not here for long so i look forward to enjoying the games from home this time around i'm watching on t.v. the last time i watched the world cup on t.v. was in two thousand and two so it's really nice to be able to experience it from home again. that's my take on what's it like as a retired footballer what do you feel when you see other people playing the game. stepping away from the game as a mentor i see things differently it's really nice that i can appreciate things differently than i could during my playing days when you're playing you have to be so focused on the games ahead now i can look at the stadiums and experience everything that happens around the matches and that's fantastic because you really get to see things from a different perspective. if you compare the preparations for the last world cup which of course ended very successfully with this tournament do you think there are similarities. we know that yogi live will prepare this team
3:13 pm
meticulously he has experience he knows how to set a team up he knows how to get ready for a tournament and the players are experienced many of these players have been to big tournaments before so i have a really good feeling. how do you see germany performing. well as i said there are players in this squad who have plenty of experience have already been to big tournaments they all play for clubs in the best leagues that also play in international competitions like the champions league. but there are also young talents in the squad who are a breath of fresh air and are also gaining some experience. what about the other teams who are your favorites. in my favorites are brazil argentina the spanish and french and of course the germans. want to. thank
