business news to live from far away coffee but still stuck with a new video is released of the schoolboys trapped in the flooded cave in thailand they appear to be in good health but rescuers say they still don't know how the girls went and they will be able to get the boys out of the chain we will speak with one of the diverse who has been at the site in thailand. also coming up one day after doing a controversial deal on migration german chancellor angela merkel prepares to face
8:01 am
her critics in parliament adams england to break their world cup. heat colombia in a traumatic penalty shoot out to claim the last place in the quarterfinals it is the first time that they have won a world cup shootout. i'm sorry kelly thank you for joining us. the twelve school boys and their coach trapped in a cave in thailand have been given food and medical attention but rescuers are still trying to work out how to get the group out they say that there are a number of options on the table but all are either difficult or dangerous in a moment we'll speak with one of the divers who has been at the site but first this report with some new video of the voice. if.
8:02 am
i'm in good health says each boy after introducing himself by his nickname despite being filmed in the depths of the cave the group seems in high spirits they've received medical treatment and food their first off to ten days trapped in the dark . their assurances were welcomed by their families gathered on the surface. is that. i'm so glad my son still alive and safe i'm speechless. he's the coach i'm so excited to see him. but the wait continues as rescuers debate how to free that boys. the cave complex is located in a remote part of the chiang rai region. the group is located around four kilometers
8:03 am
from the caves entrance trapped behind a series of narrow passageways. rescue workers are pumping water out of the flooded cave but that may not be enough. if the water level goes down the kids will be able to walk out from the front of the cage and if not they might have to dive if they dive they'll have to use a face mask. but diving would be a risky endeavor the conditions a treacherous and few of the boys can swim let's learn scuba dive. another option could be to keep them where they are to the water subsides but with the rainy season just beginning they could be stuck there for up to four months. with heavy rains for cars for later this week crews have been spreading gravel on roads laying
8:04 am
the groundwork for a long and arduous. this rescue operation. and we're going to be speaking with a diver who is helping with that effort who is at the scene a little bit later in the program but first to germany now where the chancellor angela merkel is set to defend her deal on migration in parliament in the next few hours she averted a potential collapse of her government yesterday after reaching a compromise with her hardline interior minister horst as a whole far but the deal which calls for some migrants to be held in transit centers at the border is controversial and it faces another hurdle before it can become a law or junior coalition partners the center left s.p.d. must sign off on the plan. first it was only a struggle between her party the c.d.u. and his posse the c.s.u. chancellor angela merkel and her interior minister. may have agreed on a compromise after weeks of discord over immigration but now they have to convince
8:05 am
the third party in germany's grand coalition the social democrats to accept their hard fought for agreement and this struggle is still far from being over the s.p.d. made it clear from the start that the posse wouldn't be pressured we've held intensive discussions this evening and we were able to make progress but we're not quite in agreement yet that's why we're going to continue to talk this week and have agreed to me she again on thursday evening that's all we can say at this point . in the towards in the start. the s.p.d. has a lot of questions about the plan to establish what are being called transit centers on germany's border with austria to screen asylum seekers they were already ruled out in coalition talks between the parties earlier this year and this is for losers in accepting it's unacceptable that we've been in a virtual city crisis for three weeks so far this issue affects only about ten
8:06 am
people each day so it's completely disproportionate for us tonight the s.p.d. could still throw cold water on the deal raising new questions about the future of germany's government. let's get more now on the future we are joined by our political correspondent well provider vald he is standing by at the german bundestag and you know robert it's supposed to be the beginning of a debate now about the budget but the situation is different after weeks of tension about migration isn't it. absolutely nobody really expects the chancellor oh all the other m.p.'s here to talk about details of the budget what we are expecting today is the first public appearance of after reaching this agreement with sees you part of a party. and she's going she has to explain how this deal how she thinks this deal
8:07 am
is really going to work out and we also going to see the opposition. trying to nail down. what they think is the biggest problem of the deal and especially interesting here is that the a of d. the alternative for germany the right wing populist party which is the biggest opposition party him parliament house the first word in this to debate today absolutely that they're going to have big platform there we also know that yesterday it was a meeting between not going markel cd c.d.u. c.s.u. and the social democrats. the s.p.d. party leader apparently said that they made some progress on the issue is there any clarity on what the social democrats intend to do. not really what we have heard from the social democrats so far is that they want to find a solution but they that that they want to take their time one has to understand that the social democrats on a very difficult situation here. on the one side they don't want to risk the
8:08 am
government they don't want to risk the stability of the government any more we have seen a very unstable face now for the last two or three weeks in the social democrats have been more or less playing the role of a bystander and they always called for c.d.u. and sees you to come back to the table to get back into russian politics as the social democrats called it. now to play that and not not to have the option to say just no we don't want this and to end the government at the end wouldn't really be something the social democrats want to cause this would end in the snap election something they don't want because polls are just not very good for them on the other side their electorate is not really fond of what has been agreed on between c.d.u. and sees you so the social democrats have to find a solution where they can say we have made all mark we have found something which is truly social democratic and on the other side which is not risking the stability of this government who have evolved with the latest from berlin thank you
8:09 am
you're welcome and we would like to return to our top story at this hour regarding those twelve boys who are trapped in that cave in thailand we know that that rescuers are still trying to work out how to get the group out and we have some expert analysis on that effort we are joined by ben graham announce a diving expert who is part of the team assisting the rescue effort and we thank you so much for taking the time to speak with us this morning we've been hearing that getting the boys out could take weeks or even months in your assessment how difficult is it to dive into and out of a cave like the one where they are trapped. it's very difficult it's. actually an extreme case it's roughly two kilometers swim in size from camp three and then three one off to meet the swimming hole and. to the actual spoke with
8:10 am
a start so it's a tough little dive and we understand you know. sorry ben for interrupting there you there winterson that some of the boys that they don't even know how to swim. given that it calmed on or do you think it could take to teach them not only how to swim but to dive so that they can make it out safely. fishing some of them to go in and going in a few hours. to cave would they get an experience done at least underdogs and this is an extreme of some passages merely diameter of six you sent me this company in the school but it's true let alone the currents and really about its ability to make you didn't do almost an impossible bird dangerous feet before and. we've heard that another option has been presented sort of the waited out option that they would just stay in this cave until the monsoon season is over but
8:11 am
you know on on the flipside the forecast is calling for more heavy monsoon rains. do you see that as a viable option the one to wait it out and how much should the rains complicate the rescue mission. it was in the room you are there with. people to look at if you didn't come they came with us so they're still attempting to enter the caves with the flow or with logic it's been safest option. and. the so is now the fun of going to the exits. my solution because yes three or four months surviving in the. woods would not be an option. the second. and i only know they still with me where so here we're here we know you have been there at the scene and
8:12 am
so we just like to ask for your assessment because you know presumably you've seen the rescuers perhaps you've had interaction with the family event what do you make of the general mood there. well the first of all it was very depressing because we went to the passing at all we were doing really really slow in strong currents and between zero visibility but it was a bit of a gap in the rain and we actually moved quite fast we were taking turns with the british team playing six lines to the room with the kits were and on the fourth year two days ago we actually found it's. if the system would flood that would mean . it would be closed from all access even though there's no way of reaching them so to tie and even talk to the full and to be locked up with a huge supply of food. to be looked in the tree of four months is a quite a bit of sacrifice of the park so really
8:13 am
a race against time the you articulating there and i've been running on so many people are looking at you know the rescuers the divers like you really as heroes in this situation and we wish you all the best with but the further efforts i know that everyone is thinking about those twelve boys and has them in their thoughts thank you jack. now let's get a quick check of some other stories that have been making news around the world in warsaw and other polish that these thousands of people protested against judicial reform coming into force a controversial new law mowers the retirement age of supreme court judges forcing a third of them out early critics say that the legislation undermines judicial independence but poland's right wing government says that it is tackling communist era corruption. former malaysian prime minister magic has pleaded not guilty to corruption charges he was arrested tuesday following an investigation into how billions of dollars were missing from a sovereign wealth fund he set up

a down so american i love i did enjoy that match last night so what we're talking about tit for tat treasuries are trade only a bit more of a serious matter leave the sport late first though we're going to be talking about u.s. president donald trump and the fact that he is lashing out now against the american motorcycle make a harley davidson because sharp says that the administration is courting motorcycle companies that want to move to the u.s. that's off the harley davidson said it's moving some of its assembly overseas now harley davidson announced last week that it is moving production of motorcycle sold in europe to facilities in india and brazil the company blamed the decision on tariffs imposed by the european union to retaliate for terrorists that trump imposed on a host of e.u. products now of course some of the other big companies that trump is referring to include those from europe and asia so motorcycle makers like yamaha honda b.m.w. to katty of course regions that the u.s.

president is looking to penalize in ongoing trade tensions now politicians on a tourist to save a disappointing news for otherwise busy days and just as the football world cup rolled around the russian government announced a sweeping pension reform pushing up the official retirement age but world cup would know world cup reform is facing resistance. it's been a long day and older plate minge of a needs a cup of tea after thirty years of working as a hospital doctor she was planning to retire next spring and just on a bit on the side but now the fifty four year old fears there's little chance of that the russian government wants to gradually raise the age of retirement from sixty to sixty five for men from fifty five to sixty three for women. they do not issue a menu my plan is in there but then once it's turned everything on its head i want tell it change of job yes i'll focus more on myself and less on earning money
8:17 am
finances the annual growth. and she's not alone russia has an aging population and too few people paying into its pension pot the retirement system needs an overhaul. the government wants to modernize the country but needs to invest more in health and education as communication choices can seem a little inevitably a doctor to announce the retirement reform at the start of the world cup hoping perhaps that the football tournament would distract people from its intentions these two. it's a puzzle it's numb. reforms would enable us to increase pensions and create something like an inflationary adjustments the kremlin has otherwise kept quiet on the issue president putin appears keen to distance himself from the reform. roger we have a few but trade unions and opposition politicians believe he's the one behind it
8:18 am
all you know they've organized demonstrations and collected millions of signatures in protest of the us more. all of the pension reform as a way of stealing our money or money zelig do so called reform is making citizens poorer we will do everything to prevent these measures from being implemented on the most which is the third. parliament has to give its approval before the reform can go ahead and not all members are in favor independent analysts also skeptical. yes. reform a speaking as an economist such reforms are only necessary when you have strong economic growth youth or not enough workers. neither of which is the case russia's economy is sluggish and the country has a huge workforce and few businesses actively hi older people so we'll all go platinum schivo end up having to work
8:19 am
a few more years. i shook my head used to because of everything my generation has seen but i really don't. you know i'm standing in the cars. and if the reform is implemented it'll whomping bolster people's trust in the russian government. their car restorer her already. there are a lot of british accents that you are hearing they're celebrating because england fans were in for voice in the english capital yesterday celebrating their win against colombia with renditions of football's coming home that's after injury magic day at the world cup that saw both england and sweden progress to the quarter finals and we have to bring in one of our favorites and englishman now to talk
8:20 am
a little bit more about this max merrill on a day of celebration also for you. they went into this game as marginal favorites but that's not how it ended well yeah i mean in england they basically would just ahead of colombia because they were missing this player as rodriguez who plays for byron munich i've been to see a side there are lots of files in the game the colombians really tried to break down england that way try to take them out of their rhythm and maybe even provoke them and as i know as an england fan it's never easy so let's see how it all pans out. harry came penalty after fifty seven minutes put england in the lead against an ultra defensive colombia's side without the services of their injured star hi mr rodriguez. in injury time england keeper jordan pickford had to produce his best save but was powerless on the ensuing corner when yet he mean up pounded the ball into the net for the last ditch columbia equaliser five you know his third goal at
8:21 am
this world cup sent the match into extra time when england was only two minutes away from advancing to the quarterfinals. after a goalless extra time england had to go through the dreaded penalty shootout jordan pickford saved carlos back as attempt and then up stepped eric dyer and finally england not only won a penalty shoot out but made it through to the quarterfinals too. so it was a great day as we hear now we know that all oliver moody our colleague there in russia was actually at that game and i imagine that there must have been a great atmosphere that certainly was i mean technically the stadium here in moscow was a neutral venue but you wouldn't know not being there last night the english fans were totally outnumbered by colombians at the venue there were far more yellow shirts than white around the stadium more than being able to see the difference you
8:22 am
could hear it the colombians made a lot of noise getting behind their team whistling the english players when they were on the bolts a huge atmosphere that they created i think it certainly helped the colombians the noise when they equalised and stuff it's time then was just tremendous but i think it also made it a little bit sweeter for the english fans who had made the trip it's a v sort of so outnumbered and yet get the victory at the end of the day but it did make a brilliant this figure in the match so what does a victory like that do for a team like england. i think it's going to be a huge boost to be able to handle that kind of atmosphere that as i say almost felt like an away game face and to be able to come through that and especially to then be able to go and win on penalties in that kind of hostile environment penalties as well was taking place in front of the columbia fans so i think that will give england a boost in terms of how they feel about that character about the spine of the same
8:23 am
how they deal with adversity and of course winning a penalty say the first time england has done the major tournament since ninety ninety six the first time they've ever done it a well cup i think this will give the england team a real advantage in terms of the mentality in terms of their attitude going into the next round and we will see how their mentality does play out we know that they face sweden next in the quarter finals max how dismayed and luck defensively very solid this is definitely the strength of the strike is all too dangerous although they do play with two up top i would liken them a bit to japan in the sense that on the one hand very very much settled in the starting eleven they've only made two changes in the whole tournament to their starting eleven on the other hand the tactically very malleable so we've seen them get used to the opponents very quickly in games have a clear plan how to stop them playing their game and they did that to switzerland yesterday as well and we can take a look how about pound out from. in
8:24 am
a match mouse by sloppiness it was perhaps fitting i know for specs decisive go came by or deflection from i like. the pool counting wiki delay into the far corner of the net it's. not that the noisy swedish fans were for the devout that i swear it's an entry course into the range in the hope of getting an equaliser which never came gas a page in their defense martin i'll send brought down by my collab. lang given his marching orders swayed in any given a free kick it was the last action of the guy in sweden that's true to that cup quarter final in twenty four years. yet great win for sweden i mean the atmosphere from swedish fans we've seen throughout the holds on a really positive and they are not the favorites and against england on saturday england will be the favorites although at this tournament the word favorite has been somewhat of a coast we saw germany and spain for instance fold so that i think it will be familiar tactics for england very rough and tumble to up top something that the
8:25 am
english players will know from their domestic league the premier league but as an england fan i'm slightly biased i would back england to go through in this so you think that they might win actually ok ok so let's turn back to you ali now because we know that there are two days off from soccer fans will be going through a minor life crisis after all of this action perhaps a bit of withdrawal there what can they get up to in moscow. well you never show something to do it and in moscow i'm sure that the street parties that have been taking place on a daily basis here around the sense especially on the calls guys to us straight in the sense of will continue fans from all over the world coming together even when that seems to be the not playing in moscow like in different cities. have already got out of the tournament so i'm sure that will continue in spite of the lack of football red square as well as been transformed into a football for the tournament there are things you can do that challenges like
8:26 am
trying to score pasta wrote a book keeper and although it does feel like a very long time considering all the football we've had over the last few weeks fans say if they really need that fix can just switch on russian t.v. they're showing highlights and reruns of notches all the time so you don't even have to go without football. ok so you can relive all the moments max i want to ask you to go out on the ledge here and actually pick out your favorites for us i mean you've already expressed your bias toward a lead so you've made that quite clear who are your favorites to go all the way they're going by side there's a lot of favorites at the start of this woman that we thought would be on the cards winning the title but out like i mentioned germany and spain the big fish that are out we look at that side of the draw that england are in and they face sweden and the other game that is croatia against russia the hosts who have surprised everyone i think they'll run out of steam against croatia who are very very strong side and could could knock out england in the semifinals and then on the other side of the draw is whether the favorites are still there france against uruguay that's
8:27 am
a big clash for a front really have to prove like they did against argentina that they can come up with it in the big games and on the other side brazil and belgium where i can't pick a favorite it's going to be really really close and a great clash as well it's witness for the fans so i think france all brazil will make it into the final and then we have surprise teams like for instance england who will face them next meryl here in the studio oliver moody with the latest from russia thank you so much to both of you lots of action coming up we look forward to it. just a quick reminder of the top story that we're following for you here at t w a new video released of the schoolboys trapped in a flooded change in thailand they feared to be in good health but rescuers say they still don't know how or when it will be able to free. i'm sorry kelly and for land it's much.
