a big day for greece as it emerges from its final bailout program athens will now be able to tap into money on financial markets for the first time in eight years it follows years of austerity that led to widespread anger as the country tried to cut its debts we'll go live to athens. i'm sara kelly welcome to the program dozens of elderly south koreans are in north korea for a long awaited reunion with family members. and these are just the first of emotional scenes that we are witnessing the first for unions in three years they bring together families who were divided after the korean war in the one nine hundred fifty s. some haven't seen their relatives since the end of that calm. clicked the unions

more agreed to by the two korean leaders of a historic summit in april part of a recent thaw in relations between the two countries the south koreans were chosen by lottery the oldest of them is one hundred and one these brief meetings are likely to last. are likely the last rather excuse me and only time that many will see each other. let's cross over now to josh smith he is a reuters correspondent in the south korean capital in seoul and josh i mean we just saw those scenes there how are these reunions progressing. so over the next couple days these families will only have about eleven hours each through a series of several meetings and dinners to try to catch up on the years of division between their families and so it's something that many participants in the past are said comes with a lot of mixed feelings we saw some of the emotion there joy but also

a lot to talk about five people who are living out very different lives in the two different careers and what does it mean for these families that we're seeing here the families from both koreas. so for many of these people this will be as you mentioned the first and last time they may see their family members while a lot of these reunions have been held hostage to some of the geopolitics of the region north korea's nuclear program for example as well as other tensions these are the kind of things that are really affecting people's daily lives on both sides of the border here and it's something that both sides are hoping will continue if tensions continue to improve our relations continue to improve between the two sides there are unions they are part of on the diplomatic front as we mentioned the thaw between the two koreas what is the state of affairs in this process

so this is one area that both koreas are working to try to improve on this comes amid efforts to try to restart some joint economic programs potentially do some infrastructure projects as well as do a number of joint sports and cultural programs all with the aim of reducing tensions and improving relations between the two these of course all depend however on progress on issues like north korea's nuclear weapons program and so this is something that both sides are working on there remains a lot of ground to still be covered. in seoul thank you. turning to some other news now brazil has announced that it will send troops to a border town that's all clashes between venezuelan migrants and a local population the incident over the weekend has highlighted the growing migration crisis of venice wayland's fleeing the economic and political turmoil in

to the greek economy but they have the make any money many banks are still sitting on bad loans and investors still don't trust the upswing they're also shying away from greece's high taxes and labor costs so well below the e.u. average wages and taxes have risen sharply in greece since two thousand they were at a high point when the crisis really here it in twenty ten then they sank again they've picked up again since last year making greece less attractive for companies in the domestic economy greeks need to earn more money and spend more of it again almost one in five are still unemployed greece has suffered through economic austerity now the country needs to start its recovery. and for more on this let's bring in correspondent. who is standing by for us in athens so and then we have here a big day for greece a big day for europe also but is it cause for celebration. well

for the greek people definitely not there's no went out on the streets here celebrating in fact to say expect the situation to deteriorate and to get worse in the next couple of months if anything because there's more austerity in store the macro indicators the financial indicators on the books look very good for greece greece is recording record rates of growth but that has yet to trickle down to the real economy and it won't unless there are investors coming in to invest in new jobs to be created and that's what a lot of economists are urging greece to do also warning it not to let up on its reforms don't forget this is a very frail and weak economy what we're seeing is just a nascent recovery the economy has not healed here by any stretch of the

imagination and there are more than one point two million greeks who are unemployed ok so in order to implement the real economy get back on track as you're highlighting there what sort of homework does the greek government now need to do. well for stereo's everyone is warning you that the central bank governor came out yesterday ahead of this momentous moment to say do not let on these important reforms and it's no surprise that brussels will be sending in officials every couple of months to keep close tabs on the greeks and to be sure that they are continuing with these reforms they also have to bring in foreign investments they also have to create new jobs and they also have to. tackle tax evasion which is we should count to about twenty six percent of the real economy
