prosecution including commander in chief mean online but they say impunity in the country has placed the military about the law so the impetus for accountability must come from the international community. and for more on that i am joined now by christopher dominic's at r.t. who we just heard from in that report and who was one of the three members of the u.n. fact finding mission thank you so much for joining us this afternoon and i'd like to begin by asking you how difficult was it to gather facts for this report and get an accurate picture of the situation there in myanmar. the actual gathering of facts was not so difficult there are one point two million people in the camps. camps in bangladesh there are many tens of thousands or hundreds of them sent in camps in thailand or who have fled to malaysia and to into

the nation so as you indicated we interviewed one hundred seventy five victims and survivors and eye witnesses as well as collecting it an enormous amount of evidence . imagery video and photographs that we were able to verify a great deal of research. the challenge for us was was not the gathering facts so much as an adult a lot of the action and looking at what we could establish and corroborate and what simply were assertions that we were unable to prove were right and then doing the analysis all that was a challenging task absolutely and as you were pouring through that evidence as you were making those assertions you were acting there is a representative the end of the united nations but if possible i'd like to ask you about your personal experience as well what was the most shocking part of this mission for you we three members of the fact finding mission was supported by around about fourteen or fifteen stop off.

of the one point two million people in the case in bangladesh the children and the story. i think to me i mean on the phone really brutal and you can't listen to what's happened to kids without thinking about your own kids in the same situation and interestingly i mean you know given that given how grave some of those abuses are that you detail in this report your report claims to have found evidence in fact of genocidal intent which is a very specific term if you could just walk our viewers through what that means and what implications you believe this carries for both the myanmar government and for the international community. genocidal intent is a very specific term but it's part of the legal requirement to constitute the crime of genocide we looked generally at crimes under international law and the three remains a cat of crimes under international genocide crimes against humanity and war crimes

and we found in many areas may just reconstitute if it were the sense of crimes against crimes and in addition to requite rakhine state we examine the situation of genocide and genocide on my calories national crimes requires proof of a specific purpose this is called genocidal intent the actions must be undertaken to destroy a group in whole or in part and we looked at all of the surrounding circumstances we looked at the decisions taken by other international tribunals that have examined genocide in the past particularly in relation to rwanda and former yugoslavia and we saw in rakhine state many of the same color lines of circumstance and statements by military commanders and put right is a general situation of oppression of a minority group in the use of hate speech. and widespread nature of the

a democratic society. this is which the feebleness figure it's important for the government as it is for all democratic politicians and for most of the population as well i think to state clearly we do not accept marauding riots like these nor the hounding of people who look different or come from somewhere else and no attempts to spread hate on the streets this has no place in our cities we and i can certainly say this for the government utterly condemn that kind of behavior. tension on the east and german city of cam that's has yet to come down with further demonstrations from both right and left wing groups going forward this evening. let's get more now i am joined by political correspondent oliver salat so how much should we know about the circumstances of the killing that triggered this weekend's far right protest what we know that early sunday in the eastern german city of chemists a syrian and iraqi citizens were getting into an argument with

a german citizen and then the migrants pulled out a knife allegedly stabbed the german and he later died of his injuries there was a rumor which says that the migrants responded or were harassing a woman the police said that they could not confirm that the investigation could not confirm these rumors the prosecutor said that they attacked the german citizen without proper reason and they were taken into custody now and then as a result of the violent protests erupted in the city of chemists of police were struggling to get these protesters under control and that was just a press conference by the police of sex and money and they called this protest that we witnessed yesterday a new level of escalation so the suspects as you mentioned syria and iraq and we're seeing the far right seize on this in a very big way right that's correct and that's what we're experiencing right now

still there are new protests right now as we speak the far right to get a movement taking to the streets the second day now and they're also teaming up with the far right if tea party planning some further protests are going to take place on saturday and certainly these incidents are playing into the hands of the far right basically their argument has always been that because of the open door policy off the german government because of the refuse the well coming refugee policy there since two thousand and fifteen that because of that germany has become a more unsafe place and that this is what we are witnessing right now is an allegation of course that cannot be proved totally. certainly the problem is that we witness the mob justice fraud and it is an allegation that we have been seeing for years we've seen the far right growing in the country recently why is that tell us just briefly well interesting lee eastern germany has less migrants than the west but this is exactly where these far right movements peta and the a of the
