very large groups of people kill you very divided over this issue is a police prepared to deal with any violence should that be the case. there are a lot of police on the streets tonight not just riot police there are also horses police horses here we've seen water cannons is while they all trying to keep the two sides apart we've seen some scuffles very minor scuffles here so far the police have been very quick to me that is quite a different picture from what we saw on monday night where police came under fire for not being totally prepared to deal with the numbers of people that came to the streets of candidates tonight though we've got police from around the country making sure that it remains calm here and we don't see a repeat of the scenes on monday nights now the a.f.d. party that organized this rally here they've put out on their facebook page that they want this to remain calm and to remain peaceful but we'll see what unfolds over the coming hours earlier i know shot of the two at the counter demonstration
7:04 pm
so what is the message from both of these protesters. we were at the counter demonstration. yes they said that they don't want this image these the nazi salutes that was seen on monday evening being the images that come here from kennett so but of course on the other side you have people who want to represent their concerns what they say are legitimate concerns about angle america's migration policy is worth pointing out that here in saxony last year in the national elections the a.f.d. party came out is the strongest party so there is a very deep concern here in saxony about the influx of migrants into this region shallow tell some people joining us from candidates thank you. so as a demonstration and counter demonstration goes underway in chemist's it is across germany a holding public events to mock different occasion world peace state it was created

are pointing out that it's perhaps ironic that these two things are coinciding today listen to look what people said on twitter yes we have one twitter user luke is he says it's quite coincidental that both to get it now that's the anti muslim anti immigrant movement and the right wing party are calling for another race this demonstration on a day that could not be more symbolic there's another tweet here for you this is. if we can have the next tweet this is. a politician of berlin politician from the left party says seventy nine years ago today fascist germany invaded poland and began the second world war antiwar day and world peace day is an opportunity to reflect on where racism anti-semitism and militarism lead to so really making that connection between racism and what happened before world war two and germany not. not all demonstrators who are out on the streets today in ten minutes identify with the far right even or not neo nazi ism they see that they're out there too. because

of the murders that happened but a lot of people on twitter making the connection between world peace day and the demonstrations basically that look at what happened in nazi germany with using an ethnic group as a scapegoat and so that's the conversation that's happening right now i mean to say thank you so much for that definitely leaving us much to think about thank you let's now look at some of the other stories making news around the world a massive explosion at a south and german oil refinery has left at least ten people injured by officers managed to get in suing the blaze under control but smoke forced the temporary evacuation of around two thousand local residents authorities say they don't know what caused the blast. a giant balloon resembling a bikini clad said dick has been shown has been flown in london as part of a campaign to oust the mayor organizers raise some sixty five thousand euros for

trade deals and the russian investigation as you know john mccain was one of the fiercest critics in the republican party of the president he's daughter was very critical of the president as well and the fact that john mccain explicitly asked former president obama and george w. bush actually political rivals in the two thousand g.o.p. primaries or in the case of obama of course and in the two thousand a general election so the fact that he asked them to speak here today and that he explicitly asked president not to attend this so room when he spoke to he steve and he party for the president who still continued to disrespect john mccain even as he knew you were. right so alexander we've heard a lot of high profile voices but what do ordinary americans in washington think
