parts of his agenda the new york times describes the author as a senior official in the government his claims have sparked controversy and of course damning criticism from the president himself. if the failing new york times has an anonymous editorial you believe a lot of us really gotten us a story. we're doing a great job the poll numbers are through the roof our poll numbers are great and guess what nobody is going to come close to beating me in twenty twenty because of what we've done trump plates of follow this up with a tweet. does the so-called senior administration official really exist or is it just the failing new york times with another phony so trump asked if the gutless anonymous person does indeed exist the times must for national security purposes turn him over to government once the times has defended its decision to publish the editorial anonymously and while some are scrambling for clues as to the author's

has cracked sharing it's hard to describe this definitely been piling on in the past week or so i have should point out two things one is this is an administration that was as we've all seen that has weathered lots of scandals and everyone saying oh this is going to be the turning point trump is finally finished and he wasn't. that said we are also looking forward to next week or early next week a nother book coming out that really corroborates from what we've seen many of the allegations that were made in this op ed talking about the president being a more amoral not really having any guiding principles and the white house generally being in chaos of some sort so whether or not this is really the the moment that things change for trump we'll have to wait a bit and see what happens with these elections coming up later this year but it

sort of feels like there's no coming back from this latest straw on the camel's back yeah and it grows the question on everyone's lips around the world today has been who wrote that letter and we know some people who claim they didn't write that letter let's take a listen to members of his administration who have said i didn't do it and i have to tell you. i just i find i find the media's efforts in this regard to undermine this administration incredibly disturbing. and i'll answer the question directly because i know some will say gosh she didn't answer the question it's not mine. so . who did it i mean do we have what are you hearing in washington any clues to who authored this whether. well and bad as the million dollar question i wish i could envisage that brand of course the internet has begun crazy in the past two days

trying to solve this mystery some people trying to dissect the language in the in the op trying to see what word points to what person who tends to use what they're been predictions from the vice president himself to the president's children. and we should point out that this op ed was credited to a senior administration official that is as specific as it got it didn't even say that this person worked in the white house and there are around two thousand people who work for the government who could reasonably do be described as a senior administration official this is not a mystery that's going to be solved any time soon but what we should note is that we should understand why this person wanted to remain anonymous based really purely on president from the reaction to this article our correspondent in washington last week on the story for us tonight my as always thank you very much well the drum presidency and america's divisions are also things that people here in germany are watching with concern
