just a whole also coming up fears of more anti migrant on rest in germany a small town shaken after a man dies in a fight with two afghans with the far right fault here and make it another candidates. and in sports the german national football team were in action on sunday times through this summer's world cup disappointment your converts men got back to their winning way so in a friendly match with poorly. well i'm terry martin welcome to the program a shake up in sweden but its main political blocs there failed to secure a majority in the general election and the far right sees major gains the ruling central left social democrats and their allies secured forty point six percent to a slight edge over the center right alliance said one. point three percent of the

populous sweden democrats have surged into third place taking seventeen point six percent the far right party hopes to become king maker of any ruling coalition a scenario both centrist walks are falling hard to stomach. sweden's election hasn't produced a real winner incumbent prime minister stephan left and social democrat green coalition is neck and neck with the center right parliamentary block the result may force the bloc system that has defined the country's politics for decades to change using you see the no side has a clear majority it's only natural that we will have to work across the political divide to make it possible to govern sweden so regardless of the final election results this will be the death of bloc politics. the friends attempt to form
11:03 am
a new kind of government is likely to be complicated and drawn out his appeal to the opposition to cooperate across blocs has so far full and on as the leader of the second place moderate party of christe us on this for now intent on building his own center right coalition his existing alliance includes the center liberals and christian democrats. me and we will together make decisions about how we form a new and better government in sweden. that task begins literally tomorrow and it won't be easy. although both sides are short of a majority they've so far pledged not to work with the anti immigration euro skeptics sweden democrats once on the fringes the party made historic gains in the election although unlikely to be in government to me i kiss on celebrated the

nationalists new political influence. who. do you know watch friends of sweden they said on t.v. that it's hard to declare a winner of this election i know he's won the sweden democrats. the party which has neo nazi roots has capitalized on some sweet skepticism towards immigration and the establishment as the country faces a protracted period of uncertainty once things clear this week and democrats have driven a wedge into the country's political consensus. our correspondent barbara basal is in stockholm and joins us now with more of barbara as we heard their sweetness in for some difficult coalition talks have any idea how those talks might play out. of course the first the two big blocks will first start running their heads against the wall and claim victory some home or precedence over
11:05 am
the other after all votes will be counted to maybe tomorrow then they will just have to sit down at a very big table and find common ground they will somehow have to break up this old system office center left bloc kind of center right block and they sort of alternate in government that is over the sweden democrats have really sort of broken up and shaken the political system in sweden and the deficit parties if they want to stay in government they will just have to make new compromises and just find different forms of working together we've seen something similar last year in the novel and so it is doable and they need probably to learn from their neighbors but you mentioned the sweden democrats they are a force to contend with it seems they made big gains in this election how did they do it and what kind of influence could they have on the next government. part of
11:06 am
their success of course is the is the figure at the head of party chief said to me office and he is something that just didn't exist in swedish politics so far he is a forceful personality who is he is somebody who sort of dares to go out to the marketplaces and sort of shout loudly and even so if he wins with the sort of fear mongering he has so when all over the country during the election campaign he tells people yes us we need to be afraid because there are too many migrants and crime has risen in sweden that is only half true bought people believe it and he hooks into something into a sense of insecurity that is even to some swedes because this is still one of the richest and most and safest country in the world bought even swedish people feel that things are changing out there and they feel less safe and secure in their political environment barbara thank you so much that was barbara basell there in stockholm. look at some other stories making headlines around the world today seven

protests gripped the city of kenneth's two weeks ago and fears of more unrest rose again on sunday after a man died following a fight with two afghan migrants in the town of curtain one hundred fifty kilometers west of berlin some two and a half thousand protesters followed the call of far right groups and gathered there for a march post-mortem showed the cause of death was acute heart failure directly linked to his injury is afghan men have been taken into police custody. this is where twenty two year old man died after an altercation with two afghans the suspects were swiftly taken into police custody city authorities and the local church also responded quickly urging citizens to remain calm from the hopeful. i can only hope and ask that violence is not met with counter-violence.

his pleas seems to have been heard many shared the pastor's wish that there would be no escalation as in chemist's two weeks ago curtains mayor also called for citizens to keep a cool head. but i have a simple request you stay the way you are don't let external influences get to you by was later prosecutors said an autopsy showed the man died of acute heart failure not directly linked to his injuries sustained in the incident police were deployed to kryten in droves there had been calls on social media including from neo nazi groups for a march of mourning on sunday evening some two thousand five hundred participants marched peacefully at first but later the mood turned hostile as right wing extremists called for retribution. we need to wake up and see that they

don't want to live alongside us peacefully so an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth. despite the aggressive rhetoric local politicians expressed relief was kind of. there was no violence there were verbal but no physical attacks it was relatively peaceful if you've been issued on board a few moments we don't want a second cabinets the next few days will show whether calm is maintained. spawn from d.w. politics is covering this story for us and joins us now on to help us understand this we've got two suspects that have been arrested authorities don't believe that the dead man's death was caused by any injuries that he might have sustained during the altercation with these two men so why have they been arrested while there was a fight obviously and this man was attacked he was injured to the extent that he
11:11 am
was taken to hospital it turned out that he had a chronically we caught and his heart basically gave in once he was taken to hospital so in a sense his death was in some form a consequence of this attack but it it wasn't directly caused by any of the injuries so he may have been kicked or something like that but none of those injuries actually caused him to die his heart simply gave in in that stress situation so the men have been arrested for. causing serious injury that relates to a death but it's not being treated as a homicide in any form tell us about the demonstrations that followed the man's death in curtain was it anything like the far right protests that we witness in kemet two weeks ago well it was similar in the sense of course that in a very brief space of time in this case two and a ha thousand right wing supporters far right neo nazi people. convened in could and came there and demonstrated but what was not present was the kind of
11:12 am
scenes of attacks against people that looked to foreign the kinds of. intense. chanting and so on that we have seen and can that there was some sort of. how right wing nazi speech for game being given at the end but the march itself was quiet and without any incidents so where does this go from here what are police expecting or are they expecting any further developments in the case itself in the curtain case itself are they expecting any more protests well the case obviously is being investigated. it's not quite clear exactly what happened there was some sort of altercation between young men who tend to congregate in the spot with this happened. there was a woman involved who apparently is pregnant and so on so there's a whole lot of questions still to be oncet about what exactly happened so that's being investigated then no demonstrations that i know of that has been a knowledge of the moment so it seems as though the escalation that we saw in
