go live now to do that because one of my shrewder was standing by in the city of new bern north carolina my what is the situation room where you. will be rushed behind me you can see an example of just how strong the winds were and still somewhat are and how high the water got if anyone is missing a yacht it's in the parking lot of this hotel right here we also saw a sailboat a lifeguard vessel whole dock that had been ripped out of the water and smashed into the side of the gas station this storm let me just remind everyone was a category one and that was after a weekend dramatically coming over the atlantic ocean so we can see just sort of just struction that something even that's just a category one can cause and speaking with residents in new bern which is the town that so far has gotten the most destruction

a lot of them said you know after they had heard that it weakened they decided to stay in their homes they didn't really think it was going to be that big of a deal they maybe got some water and some flashlights and then the flooding started the rain started and they didn't stop and one thing that a lot of people have said to us is next time they are definitely going to leave when they are told to leave. and roughly two hundred people as we understand but evacuated from the city radioed in right now are all part of his being able to reach people in need to specially those people who are who have stayed but could potentially. this is something that has been a big concern of the mayor of new bern in an interview this morning said that they had rescued a few hundred people but that there are still some as of this morning that we're still waiting to be rescued and several towns in this region have imposed curfews on their residents in order to further aid and rescue workers who are getting trying to get through these flooded streets to get. people see that there's no one

in their way there's no one else on the streets driving through these potholes and possibly getting stuck and possibly needing further rescue i will say that there are a lot of folks who are out walking around here in the remains of the hurricane here just sort of surveying the damage trying to figure out what exactly happened to them in the last two days. briefly mano florence as you've mentioned the house still gone but it's and remains of what can we expect in the coming few days. we can definitely expect more rain as it continues to push west right now it's over south carolina pushing west towards kentucky where part of the appalachian mountain range is and those martin haven't seen rain like this. possibly in living memory so we don't know what's going to happen there and i saw one estimate that. florence dumped somewhere around ten trillion gallons of water on the north carolina alone and it's still moving it's still raining here as you can see we're
