this is the w. new blog from brian may in the u.s. senate to react to the f.b.i. report on trying to preclude supreme court nominee republicans say there's nothing in it to corroborate allegations against brett carbonneau but top democrats are critical calling it the product of an incomplete investigation we'll get the latest from washington. the netherlands' joined other western allies in accusing russian spies of new cyber attacks that's us officials there say they foiled an attack on the u.n. chemical weapons watchdog and. germany is going to america for talks with benyamin
7:01 pm
netanyahu both say iran must never acquire nuclear weapons but they agree to disagree on the value of the international nuclear deal with terra. it's good to have you with us members of the u.s. senate judiciary committee hives have seen rather the new f.b.i. report on allegations of sexual misconduct against supreme court nominee bret's governor republican senators say the probe has found nothing to corroborate the allegations last week christine glossy for tool to the committee she was assaulted by company all when they were teenagers as the chair of the committee says there is no hint of misconduct in the latest f.b.i. report difficult. well leading democratic figures have blasted the report saying
7:02 pm
the latest f.b.i. investigation did not go far enough here's what senator feinstein a ranking member of the judiciary committee had to say let me be clear i can't talk about the details because this remains a confidential part of the background report i hope that changes are made and will be able to talk more about what the f.b.i. did later but what i can say is that the most notable part of this report is what's not in it as we noted by the white house the f.b.i. did not interview brett kavanaugh nor did the f.b.i. interview dr blasi for. correspondence stuff and the ones has been following events for us he joins us now from capitol hill where demonstrators are out in force against the findings of the investigation so stephanie let's start with where you are the middle of the protest people there in total disbelief or what's the
7:03 pm
reaction. well you can really see the protests right now behind me because of the capitol hill building behind me but the protests and this is from the woman's march this is an organization here. they are supposed to be happening in a half an hour's time and they're going to walk up to the capitol hill at least that's what's expected now in what way or to what sense that still makes that's questionable because it looks as if now that the republicans have this pretty much all tied up the three key votes three key senators who are on a little bit of a shaky ground in terms of sticking to the republican line and going forward with the confirmation they seem now to be back on track susan collins lisa murkowski and jeff flake have all said that they're really happy with the f.b.i. report that there were no cooperating facts in there. which would corroborate any allegations against sexual misconduct against brett kavanaugh so looks like the
7:04 pm
this will be a slam dunk for the republicans as of now so they republicans are obviously very pleased with this but no surprise is that of the democrats have slammed the findings of the investigation into the supreme court nominee. well i have a little trouble understanding here because there's a lot of police going on you can see this in the background right now but so here's the thing the most important thing here is that this is really really important for the republicans to get their nominee through and to get brett kavanaugh to confirm because this will stoke the republican base to go in the midterms to the elections actually however democrats are of course not really happy with with what happened here but it might turn out to be a win win for them because their base will be now stoked also to go to the midterms elections and. furthermore make it difficult in future two years for the white

house to bring candidates like mr kevin or any republican or conservative agenda through the senate and through the house stuff and siemens in washington thank you . the u.s. the u.k. and the netherlands' are accusing russia of spies of involvement in a series of cyber attacks the us has now indicted to seven russian agents in connection with attacks on domestic and international targets earlier today dutch officials said they fend off a russian cyber attack on the un chemical weapons watchdog in april investigators allege four suspects packed a car full of electronic equipment outside the organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons in the hague and left a trail of other evidence the chemical weapons watchdog says it has suffered increased cyber related activities since the beginning of the he it. all russia has denied the allegations which came as nato defense ministers as well busy meeting in
7:06 pm
brussels. this miles and friendly handshakes on the second day of nato summit of defense ministers were overshadowed by news of a possible cyber attack by russian agents in the netherlands. nato allies expressed their solidarity with the decision by the dutch and the british government to coal up russia and its blatant attempts to undermine international law and international institutions. dutch authorities announced today they had foiled a cyber attack on the organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons the dutch defense ministry said it expelled for russian nationals after they were caught spying at the chemical weapons watchdog but the defense ministers had other things to talk about as well national defense budgets were on the agenda with the us still pushing for other members to up their military spending but the term was less strident than recent spending has gone up it is clear we are making progress this will be the fourth consecutive year of rising the fans spending but we still
7:07 pm
have a long way to go. nato is investing and he's keen to show the world what it's doing with that money soon it will hold its biggest military maneuver since the end of the cold war in no way close to the russian border. area i spoke to did correspondent bantay hugo dude who is in brussels where the nato defense ministers have been meeting and i started by asking him about the accusations against russia which haven't just been leveled by the netherlands' the old nato defense ministers tried to present a united front against the former cold war for russia here and especially the british had fresh allegations the british minister said russia is acting like a pariah state this is very strong language rarely used here at nato and so it shows that there is anger and frustration among the nato members with
7:08 pm
russia because these allegations are not new this is a string of actions by russia that is outraging the nato allies and they also the british also say that russia is working with international hecho organizations and this is an orchestration attempt to undermine western democracies and international organizations so with the accusations and counter-accusations flying around it feels like there's not much room for dialogue how do you see this playing out. but the diplomatic relations between russia and the nato members have soured over the last year is over the recent years and they are at a very low point it's hard to imagine how they can get any lower off the poisoning the poisoning of a russian spy in great britain in march diplomats very exposed intelligence officers they expelled on both sides so there's not much much left
7:09 pm
what can be done although the american minister of defense mr met has said that russia has to pay a prize they can of course you know and install more sanctions against russia but the military side there's not much to do although nato regards this action as military aggression against the airlines now banned we're seeing that it appears there's a massive coordinated intelligence operation between nato members here can you tell us well. there is a reason the is not need to try to beef up its and the defense capability is this to send in the baltics which is dealing with that and nato is about to establish an operational center for side but if ends that means that they will be not only able to defend themselves but only but also to have counter. measures against russia so to say to
7:10 pm
a tech russia themselves this is in the making and this will be ex think accelerated after this new experience that was due to brussels correspondent band break at let's get the reaction from russia now and i'm joined by deductive correspondent who is in moscow the man drug how are these accusations going down in russia. well the russian government is basically saying with nothing to do with it there was no attack that led to a geisha is our observer there talking about spy mania in the west and president putin has repeatedly rejected similar charges but have also spoken to think tankers and the intelligence community in moscow and someone told me that washington is eager to impose even tougher sanctions on russia by the end of november so he asked me if russia has nothing to lose why should they why should we russians behave the way the west wants them to behave somebody else told me that the defense department
7:11 pm
is acting aggressively because they want the situation to become more tense as you know president putin said just a couple of days ago that he would like to spend less money on defense and the years to come so if this is true that is something that generals here in moscow don't like to hear and maybe this is the reason why they're acting so aggressively right now me a doctorate in moscow thank you a privately operated ship dedicated to saving refugees from drowning in the mediterranean has docked in. their carriers has had its license withdrawn so it won't legally be able to sail again of the ships operators say the move is putting people's lives at risk. this ship has meant the difference between life and death for thirty thousand people say its operators the n.g.o.s the west mediterranean launched the aquarius two and a half years ago the group says its work is vital. here and leave there is massive confusion in the mediterranean there's no real coordination to manage the

a plane she returns to every day politics while in jerusalem chancellor merkel meets israeli president rafi rivlin he appeals to the chancellor to support his country against the nuclear armament of the arch enemy iran really describes iran as a monster that should be starved and not fed. her next stop a meeting with the israeli prime minister binyamin netanyahu who also has differing views on the iran agreement there's no question you know it's not a secret certainly not a state secret that our close the deal would be wrong because our call to prayer is this where the two nuclear arsenals hope but also did something with billions of dollars and. sponsor terrorism around the world. in the middle east iraq years then as i've told the president we agree with israel that everything must be done to prevent iran from acquiring nuclear weapons even if we
