a gunman walked into the synagogue where shots services were held this morning and also a baby in ceremony was held this morning and opened fire on the people inside the mosque we we don't know exactly who was who was killed and who was injured there whether the baby was was hurt or were injured or killed in this in this attack and we also know that the gunman was later than confronted by police and exchanged fire with the police and later then basically gave up himself to the police where he's now in custody and what we also know is that. the f.b.i. is treating this now as a hate crime they have taken over the investigation from local officials because this is being deemed a hate crime against against this jewish community here in in pittsburgh and just to remind all of us that we are expecting to hear from the f.b.i. briefly but these have a suspect michael what do we know about him. well there are multiple

reports that the suspected shooter is a white male in his forty's who has a history and he's from pittsburgh and he apparently has a history of white extremist and semitic views he has espoused those untwist are right wing social media accounts where he attacked jewish people and held and deeply anti-semitic and extremist views he's being right now apparently has been treated at a hospital in the pittsburgh area and is in the custody of u.s. officials in our poll to me had president. what have had the political leaders been saying about this attack. vice president mike pence who's also traveling right now also condemned this this heinous act and strong words and said there is no place for this this in the u.s.
10:06 pm
and he condemned it as an attack on religious freedom in the u.s. and he said that this was not just a criminal act but it was actually an act of evil and prime minister of israel benjamin netanyahu also came out now in a first response and said he was he was appalled and shocked by this attack which he calls and anti-semitic attack and he said that the people of israel stand with the jewish community of pittsburgh and with americans after this this heinous crime in pittsburgh all right these have me a correspondent michael take it from a washington state thank you. u.s. justice department officials have credited to d.n.a. a finger match print and misspellings for helping them find the man who allegedly sent of these thirteen suspicious packages and pipe bombs to prominent democrats

to end to loose one war against terrorism the other that of the syrian regime against a substantial part of its own population a successful overall solution cannot be military in the end only a political solution can be successful a solution that's under the aegis of the united nations. all right i want to bring in our correspondents yulia han in istanbul and emily chauvinism moscow you i'll begin with you in istanbul you were at that press conference that tell us about what going to machall and other world leaders have to say about the talks they've had today. now this is the first time two very powerful european leaders german chancellor machall and french president mccraw are sitting down at one table with a turkey and russia who have both actors on the ground in syria but on opposite

sides of the conflict and despite their differences they all agree that the political process must be revived the political process for syria's future to end this war in syria must be revived this is quite an important political message i think they specifically called for a cease fire in the province of live that's the last major rebel outpost in syria last month a turkey and russia brokered a deal they agreed on a demilitarized zone and this prevented a bloody offensive by the assad government on this was welcomed by germany and france and they say they hope that this deal can be turned into a more permanent ceasefire that's what they will be working for and my impression was that they all hope that this cease fire could then you know be a momentum for greater peace efforts for the rest of syria as well any outcome to you in moscow now what we have got

a mere putin's goals going into the summit and has he made progress towards achieving them. well christine the russian side very much downplayed expectations going into this summit they said that there weren't going to be probably any big breakthroughs but one thing that they were expecting and that i think you can say they did it chief is a recognition that russia really is an important player in syria going forward and in syria in determining its political future as well now put in today talked about the success of the. talks which is at peace format which was founded by russia turkey and iran he talked about the success of that and he said that that format could now be broadened to include other parties as well so what we saw today essentially was put in an arrow on inviting france and germany to sit at the century their table and one other thing that we also saw
10:11 pm
today was that going into the talks russia was also hoping for stability in syria centrally they want a military foothold there they want it to be stable and they were hoping to coax the other two to coax france and germany into providing aid particularly to a syrian held regions germany has not been playing ball when it comes to that and we saw that russia really has a lot of leverage in syria. when it comes to the assad regime and putin kind of made some threats in a way kept the door open to perhaps things escalating in live if things don't go the way he wants all right you know come back see you in istanbul and very briefly we've got two key global players in the syria conflict the u.s. and iran which were absent from the summit i mean how will this affect for the progress. well i think that's a fact that everybody was well aware of chancellor merkel said that this is just
10:12 pm
a four party summit that other you know nation's leaders must be and wolves as well particularly the u.s. and iran you were mentioning that russia's president putin also said that he will inform iran about the outcome so i think the bigger effort here is you know to bring all the to bring all these actors somehow together and not have like single different meetings because in the end if you decide about syria's future there are so many interests at stake and you have to bring them to the same table all right ladies thank you that's yulia han in istanbul in the show and is in moscow for us tonight let's now turn to some of the other stories making news around the world police in mexico have abandoned a blockade they formed in the south of the country to stop thousands of migrants heading toward the u.s. border ended the standoff after the country's national human rights commission said the rule stretch of highway without shade or water was no place to hold
