a political settlement to syria's civil war. the line. i'm christine one globe welcome to the program officials in the u.s. city of pittsburgh say they're all multiple fatalities following a shooting at a synagogue have confirmed at least four people were killed us pray say that that figure could be higher and six injured when a gunman opened fire inside the house of worship for responding officers were among the wounded a suspect is in police custody. the scene of the crime a synagogue in the neighborhood of screw hill pittsburgh shortly after the shooting many questions remain but what's clear is that several people are now dead and several more are injured including police officers who were quick to move in and

surround the tree of life synagogue. the scene is very bad inside. there are multiple fatalities there are at least six injuries to include four police officers or police officers injuries at this time are non-life threatening the other individuals are critical and serious in nature very horrific crime scene it's one of the worst that i've seen and i've been on some plane crashes it's very bad the synagogue a vulnerable target on a day like today the door result been a religious service you could walk in and out only on the high holidays is there a police presidents presidents at the entrance minutes after a suspect was detained president donald trump denounced the attack saying it was more devastating than feed this week it act of mass murder is pure evil. hard to believe. and frankly something that

a gunman walked into the synagogue where shots services were held this morning and also a baby in ceremony was held this morning and opened fire on the people inside the mosque we we don't know exactly who was who was killed and who was injured there whether the baby was was hurt or were injured or killed in this in this attack and we also know that the gunman was later than confronted by police and exchanged fire with the police and later then basically gave up himself to the police where he's now in custody and what we also know is that. the f.b.i. is treating this now as a hate crime they have taken over the investigation from local officials because this is being deemed a hate crime against against this jewish community here in in pittsburgh and just to remind all of us that we are expecting to hear from the f.b.i. briefly but these have a suspect michael what do we know about him. well there are multiple

reports that the suspected shooter is a white male in his forty's who has a history and he's from pittsburgh and he apparently has a history of white extremist and semitic views he has espoused those untwist are right wing social media accounts where he attacked jewish people and held and deeply anti-semitic and extremist views he's being right now apparently has been treated at a hospital in the pittsburgh area and is in the custody of u.s. officials in our poll to me had president. what have had the political leaders been saying about this attack. vice president mike pence who's also traveling right now also condemned this this heinous act and strong words and said there is no place for this this in the u.s.

and he condemned it as an attack on religious freedom in the u.s. and he said that this was not just a criminal act but it was actually an act of evil and prime minister of israel benjamin netanyahu also came out now in a first response and said he was he was appalled and shocked by this attack which he calls and anti-semitic attack and he said that the people of israel stand with the jewish community of pittsburgh and with americans after this this heinous crime in pittsburgh all right these have me a correspondent michael take it from a washington state thank you. u.s. justice department officials have credited to d.n.a. a finger match print and misspellings for helping them find the man who allegedly sent of these thirteen suspicious packages and pipe bombs to prominent democrats
