the worst may not yet be. and for the latest on the california wildfires are joined now by journalist jason campbell donia who's in redondo beach los angeles jason thanks for being with us what more can you tell us about the extent of the damage in paradise in the north of california. it is vast to say the least and it's devastating to look at and you hear stories of people who had to evacuate at a moment's notice that fire was raging hard and shasta and it really consumed a lot of buildings and surest area nearby people are at evacuation centers trying to get ahold of loved ones and people we're getting stories that people left without cell phones without any identification whatsoever and now officials are

trying to identify them and try to get them in touch with some of their loved ones and it's very very difficult our governor elect just toured the burn zone right now and he said that it's it's it's incredible it's unbelievable it's paradise in northern california is a very wooded area and everything here in california is dry we haven't had any rain and it just went up in a matter of moments while the fires are also burning near you in the south of the state what's the situation like over there. again it's hard and we have fire fighters that have been on the frontlines now for seventy two hours straight and they're exhausted we have seen pictures of them firefighters getting into people's homes that are asked burned out and they're just trying to get any rest that they can luckily it's in the middle of the night here and

the winds have calmed across the state and the humidity is up that is helping them in their fight right now that may change later today winds are expected to get really nasty in certain areas so they're taking advantage of it they're using several helicopters there they're using crews and by and they're trying to cut shyer breaks in some of the vegetation up there and it's getting exhausting to say the least well you mention the forecast and the winds are expected to pick up again and you also say it's going to be hard for the firefighters but what does that mean for all the thousands of evacuees. well right now it's not looking very very good there some evacuation orders in south of the notes and in the san fernando valley just south of just north of los angeles there in the fire near malibu that have been lifted so there is some good news but unfortunately that can
