down the street abandon you hear vehicles. dying on the road. it was just. it was just utter panic. this satellite image of the area around paradise shows just how devastating the raging inferno has been. much time i just. read. through a couple things in it but i didn't have time to get any variable in southern california thousand oaks is a city still reeling from wednesday night's match shooting because of the wildfires that emergency services continue to work around the clock i know that firefighters from various agencies including our fire department interact county have slept in the streets overnight to keep an eye on fires embers making sure that there are no additional homes burning or any other property to happen

whole relic efforts we are forever grateful. in nearby malibu only the super rich can afford these luxury homes but no amount of money could save these mansions from the for roche's flames the ching gulf. even celebrities like lady gaga and kim kardashian have been forced to evacuate. what continues to dampen down these fires but with more strong winds expected over the coming days the worst may not yet be over. and for the latest on the california wildfires are joined now by journalist jason campbell donia who's in redondo beach los angeles jason thanks for being with us what more can you tell us about the extent of the damage in paradise in the north of california. it is
10:10 am
vast to say the least and it's devastating to look at and you hear stories of people who had to evacuate at a moment's notice that fire was raging hard and shasta and it really consumed a lot of buildings and surest area nearby people are at evacuation centers trying to get ahold of loved ones and people we're getting stories that people left without cell phones without any identification whatsoever and now officials are trying to identify them and try to get them in touch with some of their loved ones and it's very very difficult our governor elect just toured the burn zone right now and he said that it's it's it's incredible it's unbelievable it's paradise in northern california is a very wooded area and everything here in california is dry we have an hour they had any rain and it just went up in
10:11 am
a matter of moments while the fires are also burning near you in the south of the states what's the situation like over there. again it's hard and we have firefighters that have been on the frontlines now for seventy two hours straight and they're exhausted we have seen pictures of them firefighters getting into people's homes that are asked burned out and they're just trying to get any rest that they can luckily it's in the middle of the night here and the winds have calmed cross the state and the humidity is up that is helping them in their fight right now that may change later today winds are expected to get really nasty in certain areas so they're taking advantage of it they're using several helicopters there they're using crews and by and they're trying to cut shyer breaks in some of the vegetation up there and it's getting exhausting to say
10:12 am
the least well you mention the forecast and the winds are expected to pick up again and you also say it's going to be hard for the firefighters but what does that mean for all the thousands of evacuees. well right now it's not looking very very good there some evacuation orders in south the notes and in the san fernando valley just south of los angeles there in the fire near malibu that have been lifted so there is some good news but unfortunately that can change on a dime so fischler saying if you're going to go home don't get too comfortable because we might have to yank you back out again so fire crews can get in there and help protect the structures and jason can mentone reporting for us from los angeles on those california wildfires we thank you for that. thank you.
