still there's no consensus small group of countries including the u.s. and russia won't get signed on the u.s. delegation here is. in a way certainly protecting the interests of the united states i think their statements on the science have been. well just completely out of step with what is happening in reality and what is understood by the vast majority of countries scientists around the world. for more let's cross now to our correspondent maximillian. who's been following the talks in poland for us this conference has now gone into overtime and as we've just heard that skepticism about what's been happening there in the past two weeks tell us a little bit about the attitude on the ground there. well as you can see it's quite empty they've all been negotiated late into the night and latest draft has been
9:03 am
published at four o'clock in the morning and in another hour at ten am they're going to start their plenary sessions again they're going to rican and talk about the final draft that's on the ground and the problem here is as you said it's already been delayed by a day and there's now the skepticism well they're finally managed to reach an agreement they have the unity principle here at the u.n. climate conference is so only if everybody agrees something can be put off the ground and the criticism is hear coming from two sides on the one hand we have the american delegation for example who is already saying that pulling out of the paris climate agreement then we have the brazilians who have just elected an outspoken climate skeptic both so now who has companions saying he will go out of the players climate agreement and the other hand we have a group of skeptics who are very affected by climate change for some of the melodies the former the d.v.m. president has said he doesn't think these conferences are putting enough effort forward we've also had german research is renowned research saying they don't think
9:04 am
there's enough of bishan happening here so the mood is quite thinking will they be able to reach an agreement today ok so criticism all around tell us what the main sticking points are what's holding up this deal right now. well of course this is a long long document that's currently being negotiated the so-called rule book which will bring forward the idea of what was a arranged in the paris climate deal this is the sort of rules that will tell every country what they should do for their own country and for the benefit of the whole global community to protect the climate and there's of course a lot of paragraphs that's currently being negotiated but the bigger points are two underlying motives the one is trust that with this rulebook everybody has to make themselves transparent and that's actually the second topic transparency that everybody has to be open and putting forward their true intentions their true goals and this is where it's currently sticking and as we've heard there's a couple of climate skeptics is involved in negotiations for example the brazilians
9:05 am
of course the negotiators here still from the old government but there's sort of an attitude from the new coming government of course seeping in and there's another a couple of other countries for example of russia than the arab countries who are high on fossil fuels. who are saying well we're not so sure how and what we want to contribute to this negotiation. let's talk about germany germany has been one of the main negotiators really pushing for a deal but has it really it's reputation as a leader in the global fight against climate change. well germany has always had that reputation of being very forward about climate protection and its nuclear power as a main power source and is very high on renewables and recycling we have that image in around the world that we are kind of a climate change pioneer and germany in this negotiation is very active very engaged bringing things forward we spoke in several times to the negotiators here for example the german federal environment minister she's very optimistic that this
9:06 am
will happen today but at the same time of course germany has also issues germany has still not ended its call industries which are contributing largely to carbon emissions and the fact that germany's for example now trying to step in where the u.s. are stepping out in terms of client fund isn't really helping because that's not the action that's needed right now maximilian akasha reporting for us from poland thanks so much. all right let's have a look at some of the other stories making news around the world australia has formally recognized west jerusalem as the capital of israel's prime minister scott morrison said its embassy would move from tel aviv to jerusalem but not until a peace settlement is reached between israel and the palestinians. there are reports of renewed fighting in the yemeni city of data just a day off the warring parties agreed a ceasefire at un broke a tool that of course is
