home watching television at the time just one day when i heard a rumbling sound i thought it was the wind and the catch i open the door water came in quickly and dragged me out when i saw outside the sea was receding i decided to run and go as the water came again for the second time yes this is all. one thing that many of the survivors say is that there was no warning and they didn't see it coming. i feel traumatized as last night when we were getting our supplies such as diesel already and going over some logistics suddenly a huge wave came and we started running with all our family members was. this you know armies thought to have been sparked by the nearby crack a tar volcano which has been erupting since june. rescue was

you. when the tsunami struck without warning dramatic footage has surfaced of the moment the water hit during an outdoor concert along the beach front. you can see the local group seventeen performing as the wave crashes down on them and smashes into the audience. well the video of that indonesian band seventeen being swept off stage is one of the most dramatic to emerge from the disaster zone it's put a human face on this unfolding tragedy in a country that has seen more than its fair share recently the lead singer later posted an emotional message on instagram saying the band's bass player and road manager were found dead he said his wife and three of the band members are still missing and he prayed that they'd soon be found. we lost our bassist benny and our

they're sharing with us show why scene of devastation something you would expect to see after a tsunami but harrowing nonetheless there there's debris everywhere there are cars that are washed there are motorcycles that are crushed how do those which are collapsed or partially collapsed there's just degree all over the place trees have fallen down and this is what we're trying to work and i can see you sounds like there's a lot of work which needs to go in for relief efforts how many aid workers have you been able to get in. yeah we're just starting there's a response we're not even twenty four hours into it yet it looks like we're going to be there for quite a while right now it is the government of indonesia which is leading the response and then of course agencies such as the indonesian red cross to court that response at the moment they have deployed approach thirty volunteers and staff we are also
7:10 pm
sending in the fourteen water trucks the indonesian red cross has become somewhat of an expert in purifying and distributing water since the indian ocean tsunami back in two thousand and four so they're using that in their response here in central spillways we and now in this current disaster response and then as you might expect people are going to need first aid them injured there's always a lot of debris which is moving around in a disaster the force of the wave even though the wave itself was less than a metre high from what we him stand at this moment it still packs a punch there's a lot of power behind it and so we're hearing that people have not just cut through scrapes but a lot of broken bones so the indonesian red cross is sending in twenty two ambulances fully trained medical volunteers and staff to be able to provide some of that first aid we mentioned at the beginning of our conversation the
