and this is. a big impact for the area i mean. an economic impact. from medicare the water quality. recovery. it's a big impact now looking at the pictures of the aftermath it's difficult to imagine how people are coping how exactly a survivor story. well we saw a lot of families homes in. all that we visited earlier. they were sort of scrambling for aid that was being handed out so it seemed a bit desperate to be honest. there were other survivors sort of clambering through the mines of wreckage that is you know once been there households are sort of piecing together and shifting to trying to find things like that yeah it's
4:05 pm
a difficult situation for them. and we'll see in this sort of coming days how. the rescue workers and the aid workers coming in and grapple with that challenge and obviously all eyes are now on those rescue workers because we understand that one hundred people are still missing what are the chances of they'll be found alive . well i i wouldn't rule out that there would be any more survivors. definitely a possibility at this stage the focus is on finding bodies and finding people finding the missing people and the death toll doesn't continue to climb from this event. at this stage there are very quite a long way out of range to being blocked by debris that restricted rescue workers civility to them so we may well see something like that happening but i

wouldn't i wouldn't. want to bet on that. i want to bring attention to this or you've been following about the indonesian. end of the musicians and the audience being swept away by the waves what have you found out today. we visited the site where bad were playing and we were i mean. it was quite alarming the. height of this is. the way it would have been at least part made it which was to me because authorities did previously said around to me it is. clearly in some areas this tsunami hit a lot harder and in that area i mean there were bits and pieces of. equipment you've got around. yeah it was just a sign of sort of a scene of total devastation about that gathering. being attended by at least two

benjamin netanyahu says he'd like to see a similar right wing coalition following next year's vote. correspondent some so-called joins me now from jerusalem with more on this story thank you for joining us so many of our viewers might not know that jews are exempt from military conscription in israel why has that issue driven netanyahu to call early elections . well there we're talking about ultra orthodox jews known here as a higher rate of jews or hasidic jews these are the religious jews who after they just eighteen they continue in study in the us and then there are military service is the for every half a year and the supreme court has ruled that this is not constitutional because it doesn't give equality between different israelis and therefore the minister and
4:10 pm
history of defense has compared special interests lation according to which these ultra orthodox jews will have to go and serve in the military in growing in numbers though this doesn't mean that all of them will be serving but more will have to be serving and those schools those of us where kids will not be serving they will be fined by the state so this is the law and what happened today is that there was a knock was dition party that was supposed to support this law and they said that they won't support this law and in a face the situation where he didn't have this make joran and he decided to call on early election so sammy can you give us some more context to this story as saying the opposition is against this but it's also happening against the backdrop of instability in the governing coalition. yes for sure when we would say that this is only an excuse to have early elections we know that
4:11 pm
a month ago of the lieberman who was the defense minister he left the government and since then we've had a very vulnerable coalition of only sixty one members and it was very clear that they would not be able to pass new legislation and actually this issue of this kind of law is quite convenient for netanyahu to go and clear lections about because he's presenting here the position of the ministry of defense he's a he's saying that he's fulfilling all the supreme court has said and it is more convenient for him say that talking about what's happening in the gaza strip where israel has reached a ceasefire agreement with the hamas at the time when most of the israeli public was against this kind of ceasefire but right n.b.c. sami what in this now his chances of reelection in april. well. when you look at all the public opinion polls it's very clear that the israeli
4:12 pm
public is still very much on the right and we don't see much chances of the more center left parties forming the next coalition and so it seems that there will be a similar coalition to the ship now we have to remember that they used it police investigation right there is that recommendations police that he will be tried and we're waiting for indictments so this of course overshadow the elections sammy suckle joining us from jerusalem thank you with the christmas holidays upon us many people are reminded of the virtue of giving but for one restaurant owner in the u.s. capital of washington there's no off season for generosity he is my street have paid him a visit. it's the season of giving for kasi manana this means going into overdrive
