anti semitic crimes committed in germany last year that's an increase of ten percent on twenty seventeen particularly worrying the number of violent incidents like this one in berlin has increased by two thirds if. i am concerned but not really surprised it fits with what i hear from jewish organizations and representatives when i talk to them but. it should give us the impetus to take preventative action soon and to make sure that anti semitism does not arise in the first place that as. much of this hatred comes from far right supporters but experts say some of it derives from opposition to israel including from migrants from the muslim world and germany is not alone anti semitic incidents are becoming more common in other countries to france this week reported a rise of more than seventy percent in twenty eighteen compared with the previous

year. and is unfortunately anti-semitism is on the advance everywhere in europe we need to find european solution is i support the idea of making the fight against anti-semitism a priority for the german e.u. presidency next year. another part of the picture in germany is that the jewish community is growing and demonstrations of solidarity with them by non jews are common while most germans recognize that from the holocaust comes a special responsibility to protect jews there is sadly still a minority ready to turn violent aggression against them. spidy next where the center left government is a face in an uncertain future after parliament rejected its budget prime minister petro sanchez is expected to announce on friday whether he will call an early general election the socialist premier had been depending on the support of two pro independent parties to get the budget through but both voted against after he ruled

come back if he gets no budget then he has no good this is it and i mean at the end of the day it better sanchez is leading a very minority government will say you know we represent thirty percent of the members of parliament so he's needed the support from as you mentioned before as the pro independence parties they have not given him this support for a number of reasons and one they were open to supporting him if there are sanchez was open to this to the idea of there perhaps even holding a referendum in catalonia to have a vote on the future of that. region sanchez has said no way that will not happen it's anti constitutional he had sort of made concessions in the sense that he was open to dialogue as i mentioned and he said that he would have an intermediary who would help will say in that process of sort of breaking down those barriers that

china's top directors he directed the two thousand and eight the opening ceremonies of the beijing olympics which is something we all remember now the explanation that we're being given right now is that it was pulled due to technical problems but through some reporting that our our colleague scott has done it looks like it may have been a case of censorship this film deals with the chinese cultural revolution which is a very very sensitive topic in china and the fact that it may be this again this is unsubstantiated right now but it's a rather concerning look for barely knowledge to simply parrot what the chinese government has put out saying that it's simply due to technical issues. as well today about a film that is still in the competition this is. what's going on there. indeed but we just had the red carpet for lisa marcella right behind me here and during that red carpet a bunch of protesters actually crashed as the festival director dieter costless was

posing for pictures with movie star juliette binoche and those protesters were holding signs that said kino shot streaming festival which means cinema not a streaming festival and one of the this refers to specifically the controversy around netflix which was the sponsor of marsala and one of the big things about this is the fact that theater owners of movie theater owners who signed a huge letter to teach across like asking him to withdraw the film from the competition because it was netflix that it sponsored it they're fearing for their business is basically that people are simply going to stay home and watch streaming films only if those type of films keep being clued in these festivals but peter costello. responded to these people saying you know what no we have to adapt with the times and this film is going to be included in the competition. but the film festival is renowned for. was films. oh well
