we need more changing the. digital. storage market. to double your. move. this is to w. news live from berlin and clashes on the border between colombia and venezuela as the showdown over humanitarian aid heats up troops loyal to president nicolas maduro have fired tear gas at rock throwing protesters venezuela's opposition wants to bring essential supplies into the country defiance of government orders to keep the border closed also coming up to the polls close in ninety three as national
6:01 pm
election surveys show it's likely to be a tight race between incumbent president rouhani to go hungry and his main challenger actually cool i will back up we'll talk to our correspondent in a booth. my actuator thank you for joining us bracing for a showdown at the border a truck convoy carrying humanitarian aid is on its way to venezuela from colombia local media report some supplies have also crossed in from brazil as well as opposition leader who has vowed to deliver the emergency food and medicine into his country over objections from embattled leader in the last month or oh this follows violent clashes between soldiers and opposition supporters outraged over maduro's orders to block in supplies here's what gordo had to say as he sent off the aid.
6:02 pm
you only died in that because humanitarian aid is on its way to venezuela right now it's a calm and orderly process which will save lives it will mean to him it is but i don't. believe we have our correspondent at the colombian border for us have if you can hear me so the self-proclaimed interim president says the trucks carrying aid are in their way on their way into venezuela how are his supporters planning on actually getting the aid in because there are these blockades at the border that have been ordered by nicolas maduro. yes it will be a very difficult task and it's not going to be easier especially because the most of the border is closed by the authorities that still little from what we know so far we are here at the base where the humanitarian aid was actually collected and we saw the trucks just leaving with people that are planning on breaking those
6:03 pm
barriers they're going to use cranes for that they're also going to use equipment from the military to try and pass through the border despite the barricades that we've seen set up by the regiment of the cross my ludo so it is going to be difficult for sure but the equipment is there and it is a very big crowd of people who are desperate to help their country to find their families back and to have a political change in venezuela they have also been some reports of four venezuelan soldiers defecting across the border to colombia can you tell us more about that. yes it is for soldiers indeed that have not only crossed the border and show their support for one way door but also lead this movement they are at the very front line of the humanitarian aid group that is crossing one of the bridges connecting colombia and in a swell and there has been a report of another military personnel from the vin as well inside that crossed
6:04 pm
over to colombia but through the so called the n b thousand bridge where the main operation has been taking place this bridge is the one that is blocked with trailers of the venezuelan government so there seems to be a fraction in the military and there seems to be increased support for one way door but let's not forget that this is only a very small fraction of a large military operation ongoing invent as well at the same time right it really seems to come down to who the venezuelan military decides to support how much support is there still for a minute. well it is difficult to tell what we can say is that the military is certainly divided and probably what we could to distinguish is between high ranking officials and the lower ranking officials high ranking officials are privileged to they're connected to the government there even personal friends of nicole as a mother in certain cases and they are of course at least in theory the ones who have to give the orders but if you look in the lower levels there is suffering by
6:05 pm
the people by the families of these soldiers and they are the ones who are showing support for one way though especially those who are either close to the age of retirement the weaker ones the ones who are not seeing the privileges of the government those are the ones supporting wedo so far will see if their force reaches to the people and helps one way they'll get that military aide and his people and himself back into them as well in territory. reporting for us on the colombian border with venezuela thank you so much. it's. polls are beginning to close in nigeria where people have been electing a new parliament and their next president the elections were postponed by a week with delays causing tensions in the country to flare after four years of economic stagnation and failure to deal with a jihadist terrorist group boko haram president mohammad obo hari is under pressure from a challenger. long lines of voters formed outside some polling stations that open
6:06 pm
their doors later than planned. i have to a long wait at the gates of this polling station in the capital of voters rushed to cast their ballots it opened two hours later than scheduled some were overwhelmed by the crowds and upset at the lack of organization i'm not sorry we did live as this was the worst of what they do because. of course the brits so all throughout it all start and it's us i'm not such. others are who feel that the election will bring about real change. as a woman as a nigerian and show me so much as to me in the future from the. future of my children of i should keep your health care promise. that's what it's doing it's an. incumbent president who hamadou bihari voted in his northern
6:07 pm
home town of daraa where he brushed aside the prospect of defeat. you know if you lose a leg from when you accept defeat congratulate that we. don't like. his main challenger actually to abu bakar has pledged to accept the results if they are credible he and his people's democratic party have vowed to quote get nigeria working again saying that the president has wasted the last four years mugari promise to crack down on corruption and the jihadist group boko haram but the problems still persist. high unemployment is another issue affecting nigerians. many are hoping the election will be a new beginning for the country. i spoke earlier to g.w. as correspondent a char in nigeria's capital of buddha and i asked her if nigerians are concerned that the vote might not be fair after this week long delay exactly due to that fact
6:08 pm
that there is one week delay days of course skepticism and doubt that could build up over that week whether everything is going to go according to plan whether any many people ation is going to be involved any vote rigging is going to be involved in this election now at this point of course nobody not even to have a bottom line whether this election will play out fairly and it's that it's going to be transparent this is part interesting people are actually discussing politics much more openly i've spoken to a few people at a polling station and they're very opinionated about the current government something that would have not been possible possible at that extent just a decade ago so yes some change is actually taking place but as i say there is skepticism that is thrown in this election because it has been delayed by one week as you pointed out and quickly if you can funny how big of a challenge or how much clout. actually have against president mohamed.
6:09 pm
well especially the southern part of this country is rather poor especially around the delta and that's where actually has a base but in the north. president haris from that's where he will be able probably to collect a lot of votes but then again you have to make a difference here between the north east and the rest of the north because in the east you've got. you have a lot of disappointed people who did not receive what they had hoped for what they had expected from this government and that security is going to going to come down to a very two top two horse battle here between the two and is probably going to be a very narrow result. following the elections in nigeria coming to us from a good thank you so much and now let's take a look at some of the other stories making news around the world a top roman catholic cardinal has admitted the church destroyed records detailing cases of sexual abuse of children by priests german bishops made the revelation
6:10 pm
during a speech at the vatican conference on preventing sexual abuse by clergy. sudan's president omar bashir has declared a year long state of emergency and dismissed the federal government took the steps amid growing protests against his government he calls an opposition forces to engage in dialogue. in india nearly one hundred people have now died after drinking tainted alcohol and at least two hundred more have been hospitalized officials say the illegal bootleg liquor containing toxic amounts of methanol to increased potency many of the victims were tea plantation workers in the country's north the . south korean media are reporting that north korean leader kim jong un has set off for vietnam and his armored train next week he will meet with u.s. president donald trump and hondo on the three thousand kilometer journey is expected to take at least two days.

now it's not news that when you use a free app on your phone like facebook it's not really free you're paying with your data and your privacy but now a report in the wall street journal has revealed that the apps on your phone could be sending your sensitive user data to facebook even if you're not a facebook user and that includes health data and financial information a reporter out of the car is more here to tell us more about it although what apps are we talking about here is not just social media right it's through the wall street journal detested seventy ops and they found that eleven of them was sending not just your information but sensitive information to facebook without your knowledge and they also found that even even people who went on facebook had their information sent to facebook and they also there was no they also found that there is no function in this app to turn this to turn this off now we're talking mainly about health apps here one example is called instant hans right monitor and in the
6:12 pm
tests it's. in the in the test it found that like a user's heart rate was sent directly to facebook as soon as it was recorded another example is an app that helps women track their menstrual cycles. the company you know can be useful if you're trying to get pregnant for example the company that makes these and they say that they would never share you know the women women's menstrual cycle or you know preg pregnancy information with a third party as in the investigation found that that's exactly what was happening . that this information was being sent to facebook and also other examples where financial information is being shared one example here is an app for the real estate which would share you know the price of the properties that you were looking at with facebook basically revealing possibly you know how rich you are how exactly do they find this out how did this investigation happen well
6:13 pm
basically thousands of apps have facebook analytics software installed facebook uses that to get your daughter they then make targeted advertising for you like you've you've seen it many times yourself with on but you know you go online absolutely look at flights to spain the next they go on facebook and there is an ad for you know higher cars in barcelona this invest investigation finds that. software is also being used to send your your personal health health information to facebook now there is a software company that conducted this test with the wall street journal called disconnect their chief technology officer says that the way this information is being shared is he calls it a big mess and he continues saying that sharing this very personal health and financial data with facebook serves no use a purpose well that's reassuring what has facebook said about this if anything well
6:14 pm
facebook have responded and they are saying that we require after developers to be clear with the use to be clear with the users about the information they are sharing with us. and we prohibit after developers from sending us sensitive dogs so we also take steps to detect and remove that should not be shared with us so that is basically the opposite of what this investigation has found now there is there is reason to believe that the practice violates european previously law there is an investigation going on already in new york looking into this and i guess in the meantime if you're worried about your privacy should maybe to be some of those if you fire or not use facebook as if that were an office and yeah like i thank you so much. and onward to sports here are the results from match day twenty three in the in this league so far byron munich edged out heritability
